White pants for road games permanently: your thoughts?
I'm a big fan of the white pants on the road.
And Harbaugh said today that they're gonna be permanent, as opposed to a one year deal which it was supposed to be.
Harbaugh says the white pants on the road will be a permanent thing. He's a fan of that.

So this is a postmortem for the Maize pants on the road, if you will.
Aside from that small block of the mid-70s and last year, we have worn Maize pants on the road literally since Maize pants were first introduced to the uniform back in the 1930s.
I've gotten so used to the white pants that it almost feels weird when I see Maize pants on white jerseys from practice shirts. It also probably gives me a more favorable view since we went undefeated in B1G road games last year for the first time since 1997.
Not to mention winning a bowl game by 34 against an SEC division winner in their own state.
Are you happy about the white pants staying? Will you miss the Maize pants?
Was not a fan at first. Warmed up to them. There's some history behind. They have a cool old school look. Harbaugh likes them. Sold.
Also, looking at that 2 on that jersey, the new 2 looks cooler.

I'm not a fan of the white pants, but if they keep winning, then I can set my dislike aside.

They're not awful, but I don't really like the white pants. Also, I'm not sure throwing back to 1974 & 1975 is the best choice, since both years Michigan lost to OSU and finished second in the conference.
they also wore them in 1973, went undefeated and tied no. 1 osu, missed a field goal in 74, that was good, and lost at the end of the game in 75. not bad really. 2 losses in three years, with a 8 point loss to undefeated oklahoma in the bowl game. t think i could live with that now.
Prefer maize, but white's cool. Just a bit disappointed not to have maize with white at all.
Prefer traditional maize pants that's what I grew up with but the white unis grew on me for sure. Almost looked NFL!

The all-whites look good up close, but the combination of white with thin blue and yellow stripes looks dingy from a distance / on TV.
Go back and look at the Florida game UFR videos. The up-close shots look good. The distant ones look like dirty laundry.
White with a little bit of yellow in it does not look good from a distance.
For a long time I was all about bringing back the white pants. Now that I've seen them on the field, I'm still all about the white pants. Think they look great, given that it's pretty much a note-for-note throwback uniform from a pretty damn successful string of teams in the 1970s. Great work all around, love that Harbaugh has this kind of respect for the program's history.
circa 1974
...they're the same damn uniform...

They're just pants.
Maize is definitely better.
White is an MSU color not a Michigan one.
But it's not really a big deal.

But, respectfully, I believe he is completely wrong on this one.
There's nothing wrong with the all-whites. They're fine. But the maize pants are classic. The whites aren't a "throwback" to anything, despite what some people seem to think. They were an alternate for a little while in the 70s- that's not the same thing.
I'm fine with the whites for a while or every so often, but I don't want them to be permanent. It's maize and blue dammit, not 90% bleach with accents.

They weren't an "alternate" in the 1970s--they were the road uniform for, what, four seasons? You know, that era where two uniforms-one home, one away-and one helmet were more than enough.
They were the official road pants in 1974 and 75.
