Was it just me or did it…

Was it just me or did it seem like Patterson (and McAffrey for that matter) would do the clap thing to tell the center to snap the ball, and then Ruiz wouldn't snap it, and then eventually the QBs would do the hand motion and then Ruiz would snap the ball.  I think Ruiz was having a hard time hearing the hand clap, but could see the hand motion.  This would take 2-3 seconds (or more) on every single play on offense.  I was amazed to see that the QBs could not figure this out.

T-38s

After the parachuters and national anthem, there was a fly-over of 4 T-38s.

Agree with Jgruss42

I agree with Jgruss42.  The drumline show at Revelli Hall is a great pre-game event, but you need to get there early to get a good view.  After the show, the band lines up in front of Revelli to march to the stadium.  If you stand over by the right of the stairs leading into Revelli (under some trees) you'll be right at the front of the band.  This is where they put the twirlers and drum major.

Once the band leaves you'll want to stay alongside because they have a number of fun traditions on the march over.  But, be aware that they move pretty quick, so you'll need to walk fast and dodge other specators to keep up.

As they get to the stadium, the band will turn left (to go to the entrance tunnel) and you'll veer right into the stadium.  Get to your seats as quick as you can so that you don't miss the band's entrance.

During the game, be sure to point out the cheerleaders and other things going on.  If your daughter is like mine, then she'll find the game itself to be boring and get more enjoyment out of everything else that is going on (especially the band at half-time).

Also, be sure to get a souvenier at the game.  Especially, the type of thing she'll have hanging up in her bedroom for years to come.  This is the type of trip that one remembers their whole life.

If you're there a day in advance, then I'd take her to Moe's or a similar souvenier shop to get her a maize/yellow shirt that she can wear to the game.  That way she'll feel like part of the team.

What happened to Mone?

I only saw Mone play for the first (and part of the second) series on defense.  It seemed like he didn't play after that.  Laurence Marshal seemed to get more playing time (and recovered a fumble).  Any ideas what happened to Mone?

Not a fan

I'm not a fan of the white pants, but if they keep winning, then I can set my dislike aside.

"The Catch"

I'm probably a little older than the average MGoBlogger (graduating in 93), but do recall a few memorable games.  The one that comes to mind first is the ND game where Michigan needed to get about a yard to get a first down.  Everyone expected that, and flabbergasted to see Elvis fake the hand off, do a fake pump to Desmond Howard in the flat, and then loft a high pass to the back of the end zone.  No! No!! No!!! was my only thought.  Then Desmond laid out for seemed like an eternity to make the catch.  The crowd goes wild!  One of my roommates had taped the game (yes, via VCR) back in our apartment.  As soon as we got back to the apartment, we re-watched that play about a hundred times.

Unfortunately, I was also at the MSU game (in Ann Arbor) where Desmond got tripped in the endzone and no penalty was called.  It was horrible that there was no call, but Desmond should have made the catch anyways.  He had made many other far more difficult catches.  The Big House never sounded so quiet on the walk out.

Borges' History?

Is the haphazard offensive scheme that Borges is running at UM the same he's run at other schools, or is his offense likely to morph into something else once he gets 100% his own recruits?

Also, are Borges and Hoke tied at the hip, or (if Michigan's offense continues to struggle for a couple more years) is Hoke apt to replace Borges with someone else?

Tradition?

While I enjoy most of UM's tradition as much as the next guy, I tend to flinch at that being the sole justification for doing something.  I'm pretty sure Crisler painting the wings on the helmets was (gasp, dare I say) NOT traditional at the time.

For what it's worth, I mostly liked the matte helmets.  I didn't like that the strips and wings were glossy and the blue was matte.  If they do the matte thing, I think they should go all the way.

I also liked the throwback uniforms from the night game against ND.  Didn't care for the away version against MSU, though.

QB, O-line, and others?

Has any analysis been done on the cast of characters that past 5-stars had around them?

As we all know, a good offensive line goes a long way towards making a good running back.

Also, a good QB and competent receivers can prevent defenses from filling the box to stop the run.
