OT- The most beautiful place in the world
So my Mom is from the East Coast and has been to a lot of places. The other day she told me she thought Arcadia Bluffs was the most beautiful place she had ever seen. What do you think? What is/ are the most beautiful places in the world? Places we should visit. (obvs, a full Big House after a nice win, but where else?)

My bathroom after I've had my second cup of morning coffee.
(But really, most beautiful place I've been might be Iceland - we stayed in a cabin at the bottom of Kirkjufell.)
There's a road overlooking Jerusalem that was pretty amazing at sunset - just the history encaptured in that view was awesome
The lawn of the Four Seasons Maui overlooking the ocean.
Too bad I can only afford to visit it once a decade.
When we stayed in Maui (see post above) we rented the condos across the street from the Four Seasons. It is absolutely awesome.
Cool story bro moment: Joe Montana and his sons were playing football on the beach in front of the Four Seasons, and I got to catch a pass from him. Unfortunately, he would not let us take pictures or it would have been monumental (pics or it didn't happen).
Can you give me some details about the condos?
We want to go back in a couple of years, but this time it will be with kids. Love the Four Seasons, but there is no way we can afford it for 4 people, and now we need a lot more space.
We were thinking of renting condos. We thought we would have to go out to Lahina or Kihei. But if we could get something near the Four Seasons that's big enough (2 BR, 2 BA) that we could afford, that would be ideal.
I believe they were the Ho'olei condos and villas (essentially across the street from the Grand Wailea Resort and down the street from the Four Seasons). Came with beach passes, towels, chairs, umbrellas, etc... Look through VRBO or other rental sources. Only downside - in order to get all of the shit (i.e. beer) down to the beach we had to take one car and fill it up while the others walked down.
It was definitely not cheap as we rented one of the nicer/larger units with ocean views (we stayed with 2 other couples and went big). But it is absolutely cheaper than getting multiple rooms at the Four Seasons, and ours had a ridiculous gourmet kitchen/outdoor BBQ, etc... Highly recommend it.
This makes me really sad to think about how awesome it was and how long it will be before I go back. Please go and I will live vicariously through you.
EDIT: By the way, ours was a 3 BR/3.5 BA unit, and I believe it was just over 3000 per couple for the week (the cheapest rooms were like 600 at the Four Seasons at the time we went).
+1,000.
I know it won't be cheap, I'm just trying to beat the Four Seasons which only works when you are going with Honeymoon "play money".
Now that family reality has set in, I can't touch $600+/night x 2 rooms for a week at the Four Seasons. Even a $5000 a week condo beats that.
I will post pics when I go.
Hope it works out - I will definitely be going back, probably when the kids are old enough to enjoy it and not give me an aneurysm. 8.5 hours on a plane with those two, and I would be escorted straight to jail when we landed (bless their little hearts).
Enjoy and post pics so I can cry!
My kids will be around 13 and 16 when I can afford to go and have the time to go. So we will be past the "are we there yet" / "this is boring" / "I just want to watch TV" stage of their lives. They may actually enjoy it.
I hope your kids still like you when they are teens. That is always the challenge.
careful upbringing of your children can avoid most all of that. years ago my kids told me that they'd never get the 'teen disease', their words for that problem you describe. so far the oldest 3 have avoided that completely. we'll see about all the younger ones, but my hopes are high.
I stayed in Kihei and found a condo on AirBnb for pretty cheap (Maui Vista - nothing special but practical) at $125/night for a 1 bedroom. Best part is the beach across the street.. We visited about 8 beaches while we were there and Charlie Young Beach was still our favorite. Practically had the beach to ourselves since the access is down a side road and not seen from the main drag.
You can always go to the Four Seasons for happy hour and all beaches in Maui are public. Kihei is more of a beach town and you can walk to many outdoor restaurants and a really good beginner surf spot at Kalama Park. Wailea is much more residential...beautiful and upscale but a more quiet vibe if that's what you want.
So condo's will probably be the way to go. Look up property management companies on the island and you'll find things that will give you the extra space than a hotel room. It probably won't be directly on the beach but they'll be a short walk/drive.
One of the companies that my family has used in the past to rent condo's is http://www.harrishawaii.com/.
More affordable than Ho'olei and you can still walk to the Grand Wailea.
My coke dealer's living room.
I was waiting for your response. Half expecting "My mother in law in a coffin". (Kidding! of course!)
Your response was funnier. Rest assured, there will be a "ding dong the wicked witch is dead" Posbang thread eventually. Assuming she doesn't outlive me.
Sydney (obviously)
Colorado Rockies
some of those resort island chains in the Southwest Pacific Ocean that have over water bungalows
Cascade Mountains
certain places in Alaska
I almost thought there was yet another post about Rutgers, tongue-in-cheek or otherwise.
Me arsehole.

I visited there in High School and I just remember this strange, almost weighty calm to the place.
Awesome. The view from Fiesole overlooking Florence is breathtaking like this too.

National Parks: Zion and then Yosemite Valley (Have been to Yellowstone, Teton, Arches, Banff and many other similar places)
Island: Santorini (Also Kawaii >> BoraBora)
Golf Course: Pebble
Coast Line: Big Sur
City: Stockholm
Other: Norway Fjords
Hikes: Angels Landing
Underwater: Great Barrier Reef
Thankfully there are many more
Definitely Norway. The fjords are indescribable.
My wife and I are vacationing in Tromso, Norway this winter. Really hoping to get some good northern lights views.
but of the places I've been to, the canyon country/high desert areas of southern Utah and far western Colorado are the most magical to me. Arches, Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce, Colorado NM, they're all fantastic. The Rockies in Colorado are a close second, with the Pacific coast from redwood territory up to Seattle a solid third.
Went on a 7 day white-water rafting trip starting at Lee's Ferry and ending just past Lava Falls on the Colorado. Slept under the stars, hiked up into side canyons and rode rapids rated 10 on the technical scale which were nothing short of amazing. Had one hell of a good time!
but pictures, or it didn't happen. did your avatar accompany you? how could she paddle with those t-rex arms?
Lots of pics on my GoPro which unfortunately has to be returned cause the USB port is loose meaning I cant charge it or download anything.
But here's one i had on the phone with me and the avatar.....
in Mt. Zirkle wilderness area North of Steamboat Springs. It's about an hour's hike from the main parking area. It gradually tightens and the small stream narrows as you reach its end and the tougher walking in the mountains above the tree line. It's not particularly stunning, but it is more or less perfect and being there means some of the best flyfishing and backcountry camping there is.
Also most of the Fox River between Seney and Germfask.
