Customizes other teams championships. So, no, let's not do it.

I am tired of dirty teams vacating wins instead of taking losses. The result of the NCAA Championship game should be a Michigan victory and a Louisville forfeit. Michigan should be the champion. But the NCAA will never be that fair or that intelligent.
As for Sparty, this situation has nothing to do with them. There's a difference between "customizing other teams" and giving the correct team the National Championship for that year. If Sparty was in this situation, they would claim tne NC without waiting. The NCAA should award it to the team that didn't cheat to get there.

Cincinnati and Temple did not get Final Four banners when ours came down. That's not how it works.

That loss will always sting, and this whole situation just reopens the wound from the scar. John Beilein should be a candidate for a modern saint, by all accounts, and that year's group of players was so talented. likeable, cohesive, and fun to watch. I was entirely positive that it was Michigan's year, and when Spike went on his unstoppable run, I thought that it was all but assured.
I will always be especially proud of, and love that Michigan team just a little bit more, and it's a shame to have lost it to a program that's run the way Louisville is, and to a human being like Pitino. In any event, I'm sure that Beilein will get his eventually, at least.

You must be pretty young. Michigan's been in four national title games in my lifetime, and I'm in my 30's.

he didn't see them??? They happened, vacated or not.

When Spike had his breakout performance, I thought we had that game in the bag. Then that dopey white kid off of Louisville broke my heart.
:(

If Luke Hancock would have just missed that first 3-pointer he took off the time out, I feel we would have won the National Championship. He got on a roll from there.
We were ready to blow it open, but that shot checked our run.
Had he missed and we made our next shot, Louisville would have lost patience and gotten away from their game.

Pitino, we deserved that championship, didn't we? DIDN'T WE, RICK? SAY IT RICK SAY IT

Any evidence they provided escorts for the refs, too?

One of the greatest defensive plays in college basketball history. That's how I remember it. I don't care what got called.

Wait a second here...are you saying that you actually foul out sometime before the 17th foul committed? *obvious sarcasm*
This game still keeps me up at night if I am forced to think about it, and thanks to this thread, I might be up thinking about it later. Damnit.

Had a huge impact on the game and no one talks about. IIRC Hancock fouled out but wasn't assigned the foul. Went on to hit a key 3 and then send McGary to the bench with his 4th foul.
Ruins my day a little bit to think about it again

Jordan Morgan's charge call against Syracuse should brighten your day back up.
Otto is still dead.

We don't get it even if they did so who really cares. That was a great basketball game and they won it. Whether a player was there because he had sex with a stripper doesn't really change that.

Wow. Did not see this coming. Not shocking, though.
February 5th, 2016 at 1:39 PM ^
Bullshit. Something that needs legitimate investigating brushed aside becasue "we're self-imposing a 1-year ban".
February 5th, 2016 at 1:47 PM ^
If they get away with just a one year ban and vacating wins, they are lucky.
OH WAIT, THE NCAA IS A TOOTHLESS GROUP OF DOUCHEBAGS!
This is all Louisville will get :(
February 5th, 2016 at 1:47 PM ^
They are banning themselves from the tournament, not from the escorts.
February 5th, 2016 at 3:26 PM ^

A self-imposed postseason ban is not enough punishment. I read that filthy book and I'm convinced Pitino is "Coach Mike," who arranged the "dates" after McGee left Louisville.

Self-imposed bans have nothing to do with the NCAA's sanctions. They can still laugh in their face over their so-called "ban" and send them to Bolivia if they want to.
February 6th, 2016 at 10:05 PM ^
But the problem is they don't want to.
February 5th, 2016 at 6:03 PM ^
A two game suspension for Tressel, not even two weeks. He only had to miss the gamedays.
February 5th, 2016 at 2:07 PM ^
I think this is a really big deal. If the NCAA can come up with evidence of all the testimony thrown out there, I think the NCAA might actually lay it on them vs. just giving them a slap on the wrist and accepting this one year ban.
I'm usually skeptical of the NCAA and their discpline tactics, but I see this being viewed a lot closer to the Penn State discipline factors than your standard "money tactics" discipline. This could actually get interesting.
February 5th, 2016 at 2:10 PM ^
They didn't just say the hookers were helping the recruits with anatomy homework and get by with just a slap on the wrist.
February 5th, 2016 at 2:25 PM ^
Seemed like a morally upstanding guy that Rick Pitino

Two of the biggest scumbags ever.
The current UL kids suffer and coaches still cashing their big checks. NIght of pain, really?
