I know the NFL and college are different, but people have been going to games at Lambeau, Soldier Field, and Foxboro in the dead of winter for years. The fans there don't seem to care enough about the cold to decide they won't go to the games.

If the fanbase is as loyal as it claims to be, it'll show up for a winter night game. Of course, having a winning team certainly helps.

At least not in Columbus, for sure. They don't have that many police officers to spare all in one single location on a Saturday.

It'll likely never happen in Ann Arbor, too, although the chances are slightly greater than zero.

will be at noon.  There is no way in hell ABC/ESPN puts this game opposite either of the two HUGE SEC games on that day.

Noon, people will watch.

Any other time, only Michigan and Ohio State fans watch.

Bo always said that toe meets leather at noon for this one, but a night game in late November would be miserably cold. Which means passing the ball would be hard. Which means that kid who lit up MSU for half a hundred would have problems.

Which means they'd only beat us by 20.

I did not shell out $1,500 to go and experience The Game at the Shoe. We're fighting for the Shit Bowl, they're gloating about dominating the B14G, and I fear that their loser fans would have kicked my 42-year-old ass.

Been there twice in the 1990s and was very low keyed, when it was a rivalry, and couldn't believe how bad it was. Maybe now they are bored and more civililzed but I doubt it. Have respect for their team and coaches, but root for their opponent every week based on a significant portion of their fan base. My dream scenario is that they finish 5th this year so their fans can cry about disrespect and Urbs can eat pizza.

Gene Smith has said OSU-Michigan will never be a night game while he's at OSU.  I don't see any reason he'd change that this year.

Used to look forward to this game for years. Now I am sad to think we'll get blown the eff out in prime time for all the world to see. Hopefully Harbaugh will be anointed the new head coach right after the game. I will be pulling for Michigan to have the greatest game and surprise the fuckeyes but really feel This is going to be one corn hole of a game for us.

Maybe it is because I was at OSU for some of the Cooper years, or maybe I actually listened to my parents when they talked about counting chickens before they hatched, but I think a night game this year is not a good idea for Ohio State. No offense, but it is up there with your App State rematch. At best we can meet expectations and put up 60ish points and beat you by 40 or more. Let me bring up Exhibit A. Last year was supposed to be a slaughter. DG on a broken foot was a 2 pt conversion away from ending our winning streak. I'll let you pick Exhibit B. Almost any John Cooper season from the 1990s. Now, we weren't favored by as much as we likely will be in a few weeks, but we had teams that looked better on paper and on the field up until we got on the field. Exhibit C. Earle Bruce's last game. Fired before The Game, playing as the underdog at Michigan. Leaves Ann Arbor with a victory. Do I seriously expect you to win? No. Do I think you could win? Of course, it is why we actually play the games. Injuries, some well timed turnovers, you guys believing you can win, upsets happen. Do I think it will be closer than folks think? Until I see otherwise on a scoreboard with time running out, I think it will be closer than conventional wisdom will expect it to be. Hoke has managed to play us close. A closer than expected noon game will be not great but could get lost in later games. A close game at night would only get magnified.. We need a ton of help to get in the playoff. A night game against a bad Michigan team has a very tiny chance of helping that cause and a much greater chance of hurting it.

Going between the MSU-OSU and the ALA-LSU game last Saturday night and the difference was remarkable. The two top teams in the Big Ten do not compare very well with what is being played at the top of the other power conferences. You are delusional if you think otherwise. Then we have the case of the Brady Hoke led Wolverines, embarrassing isn't really strong enough of a word but it will do. If the The Game was relevant outside of Michigan and Ohio then it would be great viewing at night, but as is, it's best not to show off how awful we are in prime time to the entire country.

Ohio State learned a lot, and changed a lot after the 2002 riot.  The university specifically purchased the Holiday Inn on Lane ave just so they could put an end to the Hiney Gate.

The only reason for them to have it at night is to show off to the playoff voters.  Which won't work, because:

A- Michigan is terrible, and this win will mean nothing to anyone outside of the 2 fan bases.

B- People will be so unbelievably drunk that it will end up being a black eye for the university.

And C- Ohio State can't get around their awful loss at home to Va Tech, and even worse strength of schedule.  Their only big win is to a Michigan St team who's only big win was by 5 points over a Nebraska team who has beaten no one.

will be night games and then you'll have to flip back and forth between 5+ good games while the 8 hours before that game aired you got to enjoy the unimaginable treat of watching games like Syracuse vs. UConn or Maryland vs. Indiana on national television while LSU vs. Georgia is relegated to FoxSports36 or something because it's the 12th most important game airing at 8pm.
