OSU leads #2 Purdue at Halftime
35-30 OSU at the half
Hopefully this thread will jinx them. Purdue is currently projected as the #1 overall seed.

dont care
but care enough to post that i dont care

Purdue being projected #1 overall is malarkey. Have they watched any UConn this year? The huskies are unstoppable.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:22 PM ^
I really hadn't watched this UConn team until recently, but after doing so, I fully agree. I know a lot of things can happen and there are certainly other good teams deserving of 1 and 2 seeds, but exactly none of them have looked anything close to as dominant as Hurley and his Huskies, including Purdue, and I think the Boilers are easily the best team in this year's (down) Big Ten. Match-Ups in the tournament matter and all that, but I think Connecticut has a significant chance to be the 1st repeat champ since Donovan's Florida Gators.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:39 PM ^
Imagine what Hurley could do at Michigan. If only we had an opening...
February 18th, 2024 at 3:43 PM ^
I doubt us having an opening changes the odds of Hurley coming here at all.
February 18th, 2024 at 7:10 PM ^
I'd love for him to come here, but I think it's fair to say UConn is one of the 10-15 jobs that are better than Michigan.
February 18th, 2024 at 4:35 PM ^
Is it okay to hate Hurley just for his last name?
February 18th, 2024 at 2:45 PM ^
UConn beating Marquette by 28 yesterday --- that was the largest margin of victory in a game between two AP Top 5 teams ........ EVER.
I know Top 5 teams don't play every day, and perhaps Marquette isn't all that. But that's still a remarkable stat and UConn, wow, they look good.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:51 PM ^
We're allowed to be skeptical of Marquette here, considering Michigan allegedly beat them in a secret pre-season scrimmage.
February 18th, 2024 at 5:32 PM ^
The painful and--in truth--curious fact is that Michigan looked so good at the beginning of the season. Were scoring 90-plus points a game. All sorts of things might explain it, including bad coaching and coaching turmoil (and confidence, which is huge in college basketball). But they looked damned good out of the gate.
February 18th, 2024 at 8:08 PM ^
Zero depth on this team, so the easy answer is they’ve just run out of gas as the season wore on. Couple that with culture issues and Dug’s academic issues and it’s gone downhill fast.
February 18th, 2024 at 8:17 PM ^
I haven’t watched hardly any bball this season save a few excruciating moments of Michigan.

february football jones in full effect

Not used to hearing his voice these days unless its coming out of a red body condom.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:36 PM ^
Firing an underperforming coach seems to have given the OSU team a lift. Interesting.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:29 PM ^
They have some really decent talent. Like you said though, Holtmann was just a lousy coach. Just hope Warde is taking note on what a coaching change can do to a down program
February 18th, 2024 at 2:37 PM ^
It's about that time of year where Purdue starts to let everyone down. Do. not. bet. on. them. in. the. tournament.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
Purdue is going to lose earlier than expected again this year. Probably not the first round, but wherever the pressure goes up they fold like a cheap tent
February 18th, 2024 at 3:06 PM ^
Maybe this could be a wake up call for them.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:37 PM ^
Is it really though?
February 18th, 2024 at 3:11 PM ^
After years of hitching my wagon to Purdue, I expect them to fold on the bus ride to the 1-16 game.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:47 PM ^
Down 7 with 3:33 to go, I still believe Purdue will win this game - but will they overcome their reputation of choking in the tournament? I hope so.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:51 PM ^
I still think the Bigten officiating screws the Bigten come tournament time. Look at the foul disparity with OSU at 18 and Purdue at 8 in Columbus. In the tournament the officiating will loosen up and then Edey won’t spend half the fame at the line. Another reason Kofi Cockburn was hell in the bigten but didnt so shit in the tournament.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:52 PM ^
This is a logical take. For some reason, I thought the Big Ten let people bang around and the NCAA called a tighter game. I may have been mistaken.
I just noticed Purdue is 20/20 from the line. That’s incredible!
February 18th, 2024 at 4:09 PM ^
Maybe it’s just team variant. We have had some years where the bigten was a bloodbath in the conference and couldn’t do shit in the tournament. I think that’s one of the reasons Beilein’s teams were so good in the tournament, because they weren’t hyper aggressive. Perhaps it’s just the inconsistency of the bigten officiating that I’m noticing.
February 18th, 2024 at 8:14 PM ^
Yeah, the Big Ten swallowed that Izzo basketball in shoulder pads bullshit.
February 18th, 2024 at 4:27 PM ^
I think the biggest issue is that the tournament tends to be dominated by guard-centered teams while Big Ten teams still tend to build around big men.
February 18th, 2024 at 2:59 PM ^
Maybe they'll fold in the 2nd half too...
February 18th, 2024 at 3:01 PM ^
Love seeing Edey cry for a bailout foul
February 18th, 2024 at 3:07 PM ^
took them way too long to foul.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:07 PM ^
Women lost to MSU today. Man, what a rough weekend.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:08 PM ^
71 67 with 7 to go it's over
February 18th, 2024 at 3:10 PM ^
Well that just about seals up sole possession of last place for us.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:12 PM ^
So it turns out there are benefits to firing an ineffective head coach mid-season. Who knew?
February 18th, 2024 at 3:17 PM ^
Well Howard says he ain’t a quitter! So… Warde is the last hope. Ugh.
February 18th, 2024 at 5:17 PM ^
Howard can't do anything right. Just quit already!
February 18th, 2024 at 3:19 PM ^
Under at halftime was free money
February 18th, 2024 at 3:21 PM ^
They fired their inept coach before season’s end? Intriguing.
February 18th, 2024 at 3:46 PM ^
It’s basketball season?
February 18th, 2024 at 3:57 PM ^
so all we have to do is fire our coach and the team will start winning?
February 18th, 2024 at 4:18 PM ^
Man, it's gotta be tough being a Boilermaker fan right now, just waiting for the inevitable first weekend exit from the tournament.
February 18th, 2024 at 4:44 PM ^
It’s such a relief to not have any tournament stress right now - we can thank Coach Howard for that!
February 18th, 2024 at 5:13 PM ^
I hope whoever rooted for OSU loses a shit ton of money on brackets and Purdue makes the final 4. Garbage post.
Fuck OSU forever and always in every athletic situation.
February 18th, 2024 at 5:20 PM ^
After defeating OSU at home, they have improved and our team has gotten worse. Looks kinda like the players have given up this dreadful season. I doubt the team will be much improved next year, unless Howard does a major recruiting job.
February 18th, 2024 at 7:32 PM ^
OSU was 12-4 entering our game. They're 3-7 since, including today's win.
February 18th, 2024 at 7:54 PM ^
That seems to presume Howard wil be the coach next year. Hard to imagine a scenario with Howard making it until next year.
February 18th, 2024 at 6:28 PM ^
I was told that firing a coach mid season dooms a program. Is that not true?
