OT Friday Fun. Gone but not forgotten.

Submitted by Goldenrod Mandude on December 8th, 2023 at 1:15 PM

Alright.  Thought we could have a little Friday fun.  Who is a poster that is no longer around that you remember despite their absence?

Mine is Pony Conquerer.

I could never tell how old that dude was or if he was sane, but he holds a special place.

I don't remember UMBig11 being banned, I think he disappeared on his own once he was outed as a total fraud, but not until first throwing quite the hissy fit.

[edit @ 4:50] other than one post in October 2021, he stopped posting in July of that year but continued down voting his perceived enemies for several months.  The last negvote by him was in Jan 2022; his account remains active (not blocked).

There was a guy I saw on a plane leaving Chicago for Orange County with mgoblog open and UMBig11 on his screen and he tried to hide his screen from me since I was wearing a michigan shirt.

I couldn't tell if he was responding to UMBg11 or if he was him.

But every time I saw that username posting, in my mind it was him.

I didn't say it was an interesting story.

What happened to Dr Mantis?  He posted a ton and then all the sudden disappeared during the start of covid and nothing since from last I saw (2020)

Pony Conquerer had to be late teens / early 20s. I can't imagine they were any older than that.

They also seemed to have a lot going on that spilled onto this blog and made for some very weird moments.

To answer the question though, CRex, RollDamnTide, THE KNOWLEDGE, to name a few. Someone mentioned Ecky Pting's diaries as well, which were pretty good.

well please consider posting more than once a decade.  i hope you like minneaopolis. i remember many years ago helping my oldest brother move out of the calhoun bay beach club (a very cool apartment).  pretty sure putin lives in your general area.  like you, he's a very good guy, but if he offers you some polonium tea, just say 'no'...

very grateful to be home 'up north'.  you are at least as far north though, so if the northern lights kick up you just need to find a place where the city lights aren't polluting the view.

WD of course.  He's a fan's fan.  If anything, his apparel posts saved me time looking at stuff I would never buy.

I occasionally see a tweet of his.

I wish that marsupial was being mentioned in this thread.

There was a poster with Violins in his name, and it was supposed to be a riff on violence. In one post, he called out someone by name that we both knew. He went to college with her at Michigan, and I knew her later in life, when our sons played on the same baseball team. He was brutal. It was kind of weird to actually name the person, a private citizen, outright.

I didn't know being sane was a prerequisite. Damn!

Whiteshoes from MLive/here. Not sure if the more reserved 'shoes here is the same but the other guy I believe had a band for fun and had been a Capital One Bowl President. Or I imagined it and should not be here given requirements.

Ace is very woke and made that obvious shortly after raising a bunch of money so he could tend to his health. A bunch of douche bags got their douchey panties in a twist because they felt his politics justified their decision to aggressively, publicly, and obsessively criticize his approach to self-care. At some point I think the situation was causing a lot of stress for everyone and he decided to start his own blog.

Last I knew he was still on Twitter, but I assume he no longer is, given Ace's wokeness and Twitter, er, X's, um, cesspoolness.

Plenty of folks from the old Haloscan days.  I am thinking particularly of the coach who always talked about the X's and O's vs the Jimmys and Joes--cannot remember his name...

Not a particular "poster", but man I miss the season schedule posters.... I used to decorate my office cube with them just to irritate the residents MSU/OSU folk....

WD--the dude is a Stalion's level super fan...and a fashion icon.

DISCUSS MAN was strange and fun. Someone mentioned Dr. Mantis Toboggan and I agree. Fun poster.

Sorry, but Pony Conquerer was just irritating to me.

Also, Wee Bey Brice and Stringer Bell. I changed my username to Clarence Boddicker in response to them--why go with fictional Baltimore criminals when Robocop is right there to provide inspiration?
