OT: More OSU related news from blog?

Submitted by Catchafire on January 16th, 2019 at 7:54 AM

I tend to go to 11w from time to time and always enjoy their articles on our program.  I would personally love to read more analysis and dedicated articles as it pertains to their program, especially if it is biased and slanted in Michigan's favor.  Am I the only one that would like this?

Go to their damn site if you want the content, numbskull.

Hey I really like political and religious websites, do you guys think we can post those topics here?

OP-

You’ve picked out the single most unredeeming aspect of Eleven Warriors.  The low-grade fan trashtalk, slagging their rival with slanted and often times flatly incorrect media links, rumors and innuendo.

I could never understand that part of collegiate sports blogs.  The attitude seems to be that fans of the home team are in some sort of safe space room where they are just talking with their buddies.  Instead of what is in fact the case, which is that they are publishing writing that will be read and criticized by thousands.

I like mostly everything else about Eleven Warriors except what seems to get you off.

I love that site’s architecture and graphics.  Their resident artist Walt Keys is amazing and fantastic.  I want to know what is going on with their athletic department and sports programs.  I want to be able to discuss OSU football with the most devoted OSU followers and hold my own with them.  I want to be conversant with their university culture.  I want to know what is happening in Ohio.

Since I was personally kicked out by Ramzy, I no longer do it, but I liked going there and posting clear-eyed, sourced corrections to some of the stupid stuff that some of their readers posted about Michigan.  Some of their readers hated that.  The smart ones got it.  And I’d much rather have a conversation with a smart OSU fan than a dumb Michigan fan.

I think there could be more OSU analysis here, and an understanding of what they are doing, etc. And yes, I have read articles at 11w as it pertains to Michigan. It really depends on the writer and the slant. I would welcome that.

A lot of fans at both sites are pretty much "F OSU" or "F Michigan." And a fair amount of those same fans are pretty much trolls about the other team. So the comment sections are often worthless.

But yeah, as I recall, Bo Schembechler knew OSU well and and knew Woody well and focused on beating OSU above all else. Tressel focused on beating Michigan above all else. I personally think Michigan needs to focus as much energy as possible on beating OSU. Anyone who says it is just another game and doesn't have that game circled and highlighted and burned into their skull doesn't get rivalries and doesn't get what needs to happen.

Sure! And while we’re at it let’s go get some ice picks so we can gouge our eyes out afterwards.

Pass. Hard pass. I’d rather not give them any more oxygen than they already have.

Our record against OSU is 1-13 since the inception of this blog, 11W and Ozone Michigan Monday. All three heavily evaluate Michigan football but that’s circumstantial.

Yes. You are the only one. If you want OSU garbage, then keep visiting 11 Warriors and whatever other shitty OSU blogs are on the Internet.

Sorry, we have better things to do with our lives than living and breathing hating our rival. The fact that we take up that much mental real estate in their brains is hilarious

I almost forgot to add; Brian Cook had the funniest line about 11W.  Brian said that, “for a Michigan blog, 11W sure did have a lot of Michigan content.”

When I met Jason Priestas (11W founder and co-owner), I ran that line by him, crediting Brian.

And I am delighted to report that it drew the most painful smile from Jason that anybody can imagine.

Can I summarize this with a European military history comparison?

We are France. A once upon a time Empire which could rival any on earth. Numerous colonies. Great achievements in architecture and art. Class all the way. Even our most venerated Emperors or Kings are not tremendously as despised as those of other vast former empires.

OSU is Germany. They come along and ruthlessly kick our asses whenever they feel like it. They take over our cultural centers and museums and while they gaze at the ancient art we possess, they aren’t quite sure what it is and certainly do not understand it. They end up trying to steal it or trade it for a cooler or a spittoon.

Of course as France, we mount a dedicated and token resistance. Hiding in basements and church vestibules, singing the old songs and remembering the days of past glory. All the while hoping and praying that one day the siege of the culturally primitive Germans ends.

Then, one shining day, there is an invasion of the beaches. The Germans fight, but are outmanned and outschemed. We celebrate the great victory and barely notice the markings on the tanks chasing the Germans back to Germany.

Those tanks are labeled SEC or sometimes ACC.

How about we change history and next time kill the Germans ourselves?

We are the truly hated academic and sports royalty of the B1G when you consider all the major collegiate sports of football, men’s basketball, men’s hockey, and baseball.  I’ll perhaps grant you women’s softball to add to this list.

OSU is the Nuevo-rich prince that spends their time laser focused on attempting to beat us on both an academic and sports level.  They truly started both sides of this dual quest around 1990 or so.  They started raising incoming standards on their students, hiring better thought of academics, et al.  Even though they reign over us in the world of football for the past 14 years or so, they still suffer from envy on other fronts.  Thus, they never publicly discuss those areas where they trail us....especially various academic ranking and any sports area where we excel.

Back during the Zach Smith ordeal I started following an osu writer on twitter for news updates.  it lasted about 2 weeks and I couldn't stand it anymore so I unfollowed.  the less I see about those chuckleheads the better.
