RIGHT THERE? Clean your bong out. The game has changed huge since 97 and our offense has not. OSU, Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma would kick our ass right now and have. This was the year to beat OSU's and win the Big Ten and our coaching staff shit the bed, end of story. 10 wins is our ceiling for the foreseeable future.

So he's already 2 years removed from high school now.

He has to sit out a year (assuming he transfers to an FBS school) and after only playing in 2 games this past season he's got a redshirt.

So does this mean year after next he'll be a RS Sophomore with 3 years of eligibility left?

If he plays it out, he's going to be what, a 24 year old college football player?

Unless he transfers to BYU, that's got to be awkward.

And the other extreme is he could enter the 2020 draft.

Odd.

Need Harrison 100% now. That could save the d line.

Harrison, Hinton, Uche, Paye, Jeter, Dwumfour...

would bump Michigan up to a top 5-7 class with a nice finish....especially adding Keegan, Solomon, and probably wr Johnson and Harrison at the end.

I still say Michigan goes 10-2 next season, but makes it to Indy (if Patterson comes back). Aubrey Solomon would of filled the void but when he played he did not show much in my opinion, definitely not 5 star showings anyway. Obviously young and inexperienced but did nothing, I’m sure he would of grown. Not saying he won’t be missed...just not the end here.

losing all the defensive backs and hill flipping is going to hurt the most in my opinion.

This sucks, and I wish Solomon the best.  Hope this is good for him and his family.

The conjecture and vitriol on this board make no sense.  No one yet has any idea why he's transferring.  It could be academics, it could be disciplinary, it could be that he didn't get along with the coaches, it could be that he wants/needs to be closer to home, etc.

It could also be that there are some internal issues.  JH does have a history of rubbing some the wrong way.

This sure does suck, and I hope it ends up turning out well for all involved.  Go Blue!

Next season has the potential to be very weird for Michigan under Harbaugh. The offense will have elite talent.  The defense will have a long way to go before they are ready to stop Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, and any big-time bowl opponent. The defensive line is particularly troubling -- Dwumfour and Kemp are the only experienced guys on the inside. Paye, Hutchinson, and Uche are really the only experienced guys on the outside.

It could be a frustrating year defensively if Vilain, Johnson, and Jeter aren't ready to play. If Bush, Hill, and Long all leave as well, probably not a top 20 defense. Maybe statistically we will since Big Ten offenses and weather kinda suck, but we won't be ready to compete with the big boys.

I'm fine with having an elite offense as opposed to an elite defense. Football these days is about having high-powered offenses and simply scoring at will. Fuck defense.

EDIT: Look at the four playoff teams. Oklahoma - number one in total offense. Alabama - number seven in total offense. Clemson - number five in total offense. Notre Dame is number twenty-eight in total offense, so they are certainly the outlier. ND is just a good balanced team, but I suspect they will lose one of their games.

Bet it was about academics but I have zero to back that.

Posting this deep down here to sulk openly and hopefully not before too many eyes but yeah, after that OSU game I threw the towel in spiritually for this program after 40 years of carrying the torch.  We'll have a season here or there where we might beat OSU but I think this hold out for a return to the dominance of the 70's - 90's is over.  Three reasons:

1. We're Ivy Lite.  A program hamstrung by standards and integrity that prevents us from competing with the dumb, dirty big boys, and like Ivies, we're smug about it.  Unlike the rabble, we would never compromise on these principles much as Ivy League schools.

2. We share recruits with a Little Brother University in a state that is inferior in talent relative to our main rival who has their talent rich state all to themselves.

3. Bad luck.  The Gods do hate us for some reason, such as always scheduling the OSU game on the road every year we're actually good (2006, 2016, 2018).

Hey, at least we're suddenly a basketball school.

Obviously disappointing news, but some of these posts are worse. I have yet to see one of Michigan's transfers tear it up someplace else in the last 3 years. So far, the biggest disappointment this year (as it relates to transfers or decommits) is the Dax Hill de-commitment.  Again, a disappointment to be sure, but not worth all this consternation.  Michigan's Dline has been a strength for the past 4 years, no reason to think it won't be strong again next year.

He was the guy that tweeted "Fuck Michigan", right? Well not sure why he's transferring but wish him well in his future endeavors. We gotta keep moving on. One more spot for someone else we're going after.

Did he play in The Game this year?  Not being bitter or anything, but I never even noticed him on the field the last two years.  Wasn't too impressed to be honest.

He played sparingly the last handful of games. That’s when the red lights started to go off for me. Felt more like a dude about to transfer than someone coming back from injury. Mainly because there was never any “hey our 5 star DL guy who has battled back to play all season is back” talk. Was just crickets and then he kinda reappeared.

Some slight simularities to Black (there was a LOT more chatter about his return) so you can why there’s rumors about him too.

7 players from the 2017 class transferred and you have, depending on the rumors, at least 5-6 players not playing in the Peach Bowl. It sounds like a team that has fractured interests which could crack the team unity that is needed to be a top program.

With Aubrey leaving, I'm now convinced that Zach Harrison won't be coming to Michigan. And why would he when see's a team culture that seems to be falling apart at the seams?

Yeah there has to be some of this attitude going especially given the three years of meltdowns in November then pretty humbling bowl losses.  I still think Michigan at least starts ready for Florida.  As of right now I have no idea whether they win this game given the mental rebound needed to get back on the field and practice well.  Shea and JH can only be cheerleaders for so long.  Team Captains sitting probably would not help.

With key leaders like Chase and Bush leaving I could see that defense being a hot mess next season. They lose a ton of talent and have almost nothing in terms of returning talent or leadership behind it.

Really all the more reason the offense is going to have to change philosophies and figure out how to play and win 42-38 types of games.

At this point, who cares?  No point in focusing on all the recruiting and transfer stuff as it will just make you miserable if you're a die hard.  With Michigan, almost all of the focus will be on the negative anyways in the offseason, so just wait and see who's still on the roster at the end of August next year.

Michigan will end the year with an embarrassing loss to Florida in the bowl game. Something just isn’t right with Harbaugh and it is too bad that it won’t work out for him at Michigan.
