No.  Totally unimpressed with his play once he was in.  More a deer in headlights than not.  There was a reason he was third in the pecking order.  Good young man, but definitely not the answer for us at QB.  Throws a nice ball but doesn't show the grit/fire or the sharp decision making required to succeed at the level we require to compete against the OSU's of the world.

1. UM - Especially with the long, fancy intro

2. Wisconsin - Catchy.  The three consecutive notes after On Wisconsin are quite delightful shower fodder.

3. ND - Michigan's real lil bro.  Just behind at everything from academia, to basketball, to football.  I guess they have that Heisman thing.

4. FSU - War chant.  Perfect in it's lyricless simplicity for a consistently over-served and dimwitted fan base.

Fair, but most of the hands Hellmuth calls "poor play" are not in fact that.  He just uses that as a crutch to vent like a baby.

07/12/2018 - 4:41pm Hellmuth did win the main…

Hellmuth did win the main event in the 80's unseating Chan who was going for a 3 peat.  Hellmuth is an excellent tournament player who has won the most WSOP tournaments (i.e., bracelets).  However he is also an insufferable douche who commonly insults table mates who take a pot off him for "playing poorly" next to his greatness.  Most people you'd think would be pleased that the competition plays poorly, but to Hellmuth, anyone who plays a hand in a way that does not end up with him winning is playing poorly and thus bad at poker.  Universally despised fellow.

Not sure if Joe attended UM of not but his primary backer in '09 Cliff Josephy did, and Joe is from Clinton Township.  He and his mates are all avid Michigan fans as evidenced by how prominently they represent the university.

Gotta toss some green at Yaklich and lock him down.  With this D and some better 3 pt shooting a Natty is a very real possibility, unless another 6th man white guy decides to make the NC game against Michigan his 3 pt break out bomb party as has been the case now twice in a row.

06/25/2018 - 3:20pm Jim is #1-2 in terms of…

Jim is #1-2 in terms of coaching talent and recruiting prowess.  What the other three have over him is they have had their programs better adjusted to college ball over the last three years.  In my opinion Jim's coming back down from the NFL, while great in many ways, has also hampered him in that he has projected a level of competence from his staff and players that you just don't get at the college level.  This off season has been one of reckoning for him and he is now making the adjustments required to succeed with the talent that the college game gives him.  We will be a top program shortly, leaving the two pedophile enabling schools in the dust.

06/25/2018 - 1:28pm Ohio State's only goal here…

Ohio State's only goal here is to prevent us from winning, so they're going to walk away feeling like they "won" unless we win the whole thing.  It's pretty obvious.  I'd rather we wipe them off the map and stick it in their face than win but that's just me.

Don't like it.  We should do like they do on Survivor and lay in the weeds in second place until the last few rounds so everyone else can focus on toppling the top guy.

06/01/2018 - 9:24am Gets me to thinking, living

Gets me to thinking, living here in DC, how sad it is that for people living on the coasts the stigma remains 40 years later against American cars.  Pathetic how every mini van, SUV, pick up or sedan in the DC area is a Honda or Toyota.  Should rename this town the District of Corollas.  All these federal workers, bleeding their salaries off of the American tax payer, can't even do their part to buy American...  "But Toyota employs more Americans than GM!" blah blah blah

Sad man.  For us whose hearts are bound to Michigan and the Motor City this Chrysler news does hurt.

05/29/2018 - 12:20pm We should offset this hype

We should offset this hype here with a comparison of schedule difficulty between 2016 and 2018... not even close...If we just had a normal schedule this year I'd be real hyped but with this being the hardest schedule we've probably had in 20+ years I'll go with meh until I see Shea and Warriner in action come September.

Until we see the O Line or schemes vastly improve I won't be getting excited about any QB prospect unless he comes with two tackle prospects attached at the hip.

05/15/2018 - 3:25pm True.  Poorly phrased.  I

True.  Poorly phrased.  I guess I meant to say that odd elements do occasionally show up in that area as happened to me 30 years ago.

05/15/2018 - 12:58pm Crime is nothing new to that

Crime is nothing new to that area.  One of my 9 lives passed before my eyes 30 years ago (summer 1987) as I exited the Michigan Union on South State at like 1:30 AM after Reggae Night.  Before me on South U was a brawl happening between two older white men who did not look like students or faculty, with three young black men who also did not appear be students (one appeared in his late 20s and the others were definitely high school).  As if by some act of God, the two white men suddenly fled, leaving me alone with their three adversaries, one of which suddenly walked up to me yelling something about my sneaking up on them.  He had a stiletto in hand.  His two younger comrades proceeded to yell "Cut him! Cut him!" and the older fellow swung at me, hitting me in the side of the head with the butt of the stiletto as I stood there incredulous (and drunk) with both hands up.  Had he chosen to hit me with the other side of the knife I wouldn't be here today.  By some other act of God, the younger comrades suddenly yelled "Cops! Run!" and they all fled, yet as I looked around in shock, I saw no cops.

As these were the days before cell phones, I just quietly walked home with blood pouring down my ear.

So yeah, not surprised that things aren't markedly better nowadays.

05/10/2018 - 12:01pm Where your argument fails is

Where your argument fails is since you are putting Bird on the floor at the same time as these others, that means they all have access to the same contemporary nutrition and exercise technology and advancement. If Bird has access to all the modern benefits at his peak he would still be a monster that would dominate.

Most of us from Michigan are Lions fans and we need the Browns to always be terrible so we're not alone as the only non-expansion team to never make the SuperBowl.  Definitely want JP to have a monster year, but would be pleased with another 0-16 coming out of Cleveland.

05/05/2018 - 5:57am You win.

You win.

05/02/2018 - 4:58pm I'll agree with Brian that

I'll agree with Brian that this OL schematic dysfunction was a big part of the problem, but I'm dubious of his interjection at the outset with the complexity of JH's system.  When I see Meyer insert QB after QB after QB on the fly into his system and each one appears to do better than the last, and see Michigan QB after QB struggle, and not throw to wide open targets or check downs because eyes are elsewhere, I stop to wonder if our coach isn't projecting a little too much Andrew Luck genius, or NFL level competence out of his QBs, and if he needs to simplify things a bit.

With that in mind, I am loving hearing what Newsome is saying about Warriner.  Bodes well.

05/01/2018 - 5:39pm First time in a while I feel

First time in a while I feel like we're going to be sneaky good, but that schedule is just brutal.  Going to come down to coaching, period.  We'll need some schematic magic on offense akin to PSU's effort against us last year to make it through.  I feel like JH has dug deep and done some soul searching this off season and we should hopefully see some more variety on offense that carries us over the top vs the majority of this insane schedule, but hard to see us run this table.  Go Blue.

04/28/2018 - 2:27pm Didn’t TB12 go in the 5th?

Didn’t TB12 go in the 5th? Just sayin.

04/28/2018 - 9:53am It’s not a talent problem.

It’s not a talent problem. It’s an offense problem. I hold to my belief that JH’s offense requires more QB reads and offers less safety valve on break downs relative to many other college offenses. The key to the long term success of our program is JH realizing this and adapting, knowing he will not always have an Andrew Luck manning the helm.

04/27/2018 - 6:13pm After reading just like 5

After reading just like 5 twitter reactions to that linked announcement I redoubled my firm belief that Twitter is the single biggest piece of shit invention of all time comprised 99.9% of material that makes any reader dumber or more pissed off for having read it.

04/26/2018 - 8:46pm I'm not buying.  Still hold

I'm not buying.  Still hold our problems at  QB the last severals were 30% talent, 70% card castle, pro style schemes over-reliant on picture  perfect pass pro that set our QBs up for failure with anything  less than  Andrew Luck level football  acumen.  When Meyer can plug in absolutely any QB he wants and Ohio never skips a beat, year, after year, after year, you start realizing it's not the talent as much as the QB friendly scheme.  Having Shea is awesome,  but we need to see some coaching and play calling adjustment this year because if it's the same ole offense, no bueno.

04/26/2018 - 8:41pm Quite the contrary.  Michigan

Quite the contrary.  Michigan fans tend to have ridiculous expectations year in, year out.  This will be the perfect storm of a season where we have our strongest team in a decade combined with the hardest schedule we have had in decades.  We'll go 9-3 or 10-2 and everyone will blame Harbaugh for not pulling monkeys out of his ass to go undefeated against this insane schedule.

Do not mix expectations with standards however.  As Michigan we very much have the right to set very high standards for our football program as the winningest of all time, but many are smart enough to not expect a team facing this brutal schedule to achieve that standard of winning this year.

I remember back in the day when every other irrelevant word random people uttered in gest didn’t make national news.

04/22/2018 - 9:48pm Yeah, because mental

Yeah, because mental disorders are something only kids deal with and growing up makes the problems magically go away?  Not sure what is more sad, this kid's situation or people like you persecuting a kid with a mental problem.

04/22/2018 - 9:45pm Gotta second this. The kid

Gotta second this. The kid even posted a pic of the report affirming his mental disorder.  He's a kid, he has mental problems, can't come to grips with his situation, and now he has a metric ton of adversity staring his future down for him.

Animosity against a kid with mental problem who has not actually harmed anyone yet is awful.  This kid deserves sympathy and help.  Please don't post again here for a while.
