Sheesh.

So glad Michigan…

Sheesh.

So glad Michigan finally did it. This system is so effed up it’s hard to take it seriously.

It’s corrupt minor league football.

Cornelius Johnson just ran a…

Cornelius Johnson just ran a 4.45

I think that’s a pretty damn good time for him.

Very good point.

Mike…

Very good point.

Mike Hart ran a 4.69. I think Corum is faster so 4.5’s seems about right. Would be ecstatic for him if he breaks 4.50.

Chiefs, though rooting for…

Chiefs, though rooting for 49ers

31-16

Lots of chicken wings

Rutgers was on the road……

Rutgers was on the road… Maryland was at home. Oh how I wish I could wash those from my memory!

Hopefully Moore is able to…

Hopefully Moore is able to put together a staff and keep the star defensive players he currently has. No doubt I’d rather coach in the NFL than college if given the choice, so no hard feelings to those who’ve left.

I really hope we don’t end up in a situation where we’re asking ourselves if it’d have been better to poach another team’s HC rather than promote Moore, or at the very least another college team’s DC b/c that guy would have an established staff, most of which he’d likely be able to bring along with him rather than be looking to fill a college staff into mid-February.

Early to bed and early to…

Early to bed and early to rise…

The initial concern is to wonder if this is a guy who just wanted a job more than this job. Is this a Jim Harbaugh type situation all over again where every off-season we are waiting for his NFL interviews?

Rumblings about Wink and the…

Rumblings about Wink and the Cowboys too. Not sure if he’s more interested in them or them in him. Hopefully this isn’t posturing on his part. I think both he and Cullen are high risk but incredibly high reward hires.

Too soon?

Too soon?

Yes.

The current state…

Yes.

The current state of things isn’t really something I want to pour that much emotion into.

I think Michigan could do more to try to win, but they’re unwilling to do so. Imagine an NFL GM who could restructure contracts to circumvent cap hits and open up cap space, whose rivals did so every offseason, but out of some misplaced altruism determined that his organization was too morally sound to engage and put his team at a disadvantage.

Michigan football is operating like a small market baseball team right now. Rivals are doing what they need to in order to win, and your team’s only chance is to get stars to align, a hometown hero to come back and save things, and then the minute his job is done you go right back to your second rate ways.

I’d said since probably the TCU loss that this year was the last year for me, and I’m so beyond happy that things worked out the way they did. And it’s nice knowing that not every loss now ends your championship hopes.

Michigan very well might…

Michigan very well might become Stanford if they’re not careful.

Hadn’t heard that. Thanks.

Hadn’t heard that. Thanks.

Should we read anything into both Hurtt and Cullen being DL guys? (Though at least Hurtt had some experience with linebackers, a vacancy on the defensive staff still)

Cullen is DL or DC. Elston played OLB and does have some experience coaching LB though.

What I think can/should have…

What I think can/should have us a bit concerned is the last two NFL names kicked about for this job are DL guys and the attempted poaching from ND was a guy to be a recruiting coordinator among other things.

Those two things are what Elston does.

I didn’t have much to go on…

I didn’t have much to go on to defend the Minter hire as a lot of people here bitched about it.

I know/knew some people in Baltimore who spoke highly of Macdonald, even referring to him back in the winter of 2021 as the replacement for Wink Martindale, so was pretty adamant that he be given a chance, and aside from the tempo against MSU, he did pretty ok in his one year here!

So the point is that everyone is just bickering over hope. None of us have a damn clue, as evident in the last two times we got ourselves worked up over a DC hire.

Go Blue

Go Blue

Haha.

And the OP…

Haha.

And the OP described it best… underwhelming.

Fuck you Valenti for SOOOOOO…

Fuck you Valenti for SOOOOOO many reasons.

Looked quite similar!

Looked quite similar!

Same result.

Wow. Great start.

Wow. Great start.

Loving this first drive. Run…

Loving this first drive. Run effectively, set up PA.

The “let Lamar Jackson throw…

The “let Lamar Jackson throw arm punts” strategy not quite good enough.

Macdonald with a MUCH better…

Macdonald with a MUCH better 3rd quarter

Greg Roman if he doesn’t go…

Greg Roman if he doesn’t go with Jim to the Chargers?

 Not sure which Bal…

Not sure which Bal coordinator is having a worse afternoon. Probably Monken. No commitment to establish the run.

One. Kane Wommack from South…

One. Kane Wommack from South Alabama.

I guess the equivalent to that that has been kicked around here a bit would be Joe Moorhead from Akron as offensive coordinator. I can see the logic behind that. Great success in the Big Ten when he was at Penn State and some head coaching experience that could help the new guy.

I’m more concerned about him…

I’m more concerned about him being exclusively an NFL guy for the last 10 years.

Does he simply want a job rather than this job?

And I think a lot of us need to pump the brakes on the outrage. It was like this when Macdonald’s name was first mentioned.

What, the one with both Jim…

What, the one with both Jim Leonhard and Clint Hurtt spelled wrong?

I was glad to see that from…

I was glad to see that from Coach Marion. I think most of us are expecting Kirk Campbell to get promoted from QB Coach to OC and play-caller, but if not him, Marion should be high on the list. People in Pittsburgh still criticizing Pat Narduzzi for letting him get away.

How great is it that he…

How great is it that he seems a bit more nervous at that podium than he did at any point during the OSU win.

Says he probably won’t be…

Says he probably won’t be calling plays and seems to know who the next OC and play caller will be.

Guessing Campbell gets promoted.

Glad I checked before making…

Glad I checked before making the thread.

Thanks to the OP for doing this.

Always exciting to start a new era.

Damn you! I hadn’t thought…

Damn you! I hadn’t thought of that!

When they need to run hurry…

When they need to run hurry up, like against TCU towards the end of the fourth quarter, or Michigan State in 2020, I’d like to see them do it with some modicum of competence and success.

Said similar things about…

Said similar things about McCarthy, Edwards (though thrilled he’s coming back) and the others who, while still having eligibility, are leaving UM having no idea what it feels like to lose to OSU.

Harbaugh gets to leave on as high a note as he could have. He saved Michigan from mediocrity.

Yep! No man is bigger than…

Yep! No man is bigger than the team.

I still remember the sentiments surrounding the 2013 and 2014 OSU games. In 2013 we were so happy to have kept it close. In 2014 the people in the room all said early on how we hoped it would stay close long enough to enjoy it. From that to turning the tide in the rivalry and now national champions.

Thank you, Coach Harbaugh. I hope you like the statue that’s sure to be standing proudly in Ann Arbor.

Absolutely a legitimate…

Absolutely a legitimate concern, one shared by most (if not all).

The easing of transfer restrictions might actually help Michigan though. Maybe the message, “Come here if that’s what you want, knowing that if/when Harbaugh leaves, you get 30 days to enter the portal“ works?

I think everyone’s tired of…

I think everyone’s tired of the annual drama, but perhaps just as tiring is the reality that he’s worth it! He’s worth every bit of it.

I know no man can predict the future, but geez, if Harbaugh doesn’t get an NFL job after what he’s done the last three seasons, is it ever going to happen? Will his stock be higher next season? Will he somehow drop his demands for roster control?

The family element is why I’d think the Commanders job would be the most appealing to him. With brother John’s job security being what it is with the Ravens, Jim could move the family to DC and hire Jay, Jack & Jackie move to the area, he has the family around him even more so than in Ann Arbor, and doesn’t have to recruit his roster 365 days/year.

How happy would Fields be…

How happy would Fields be though to be traded to the Falcons and have to head back to the racist state of Georgia? Isn’t that why he fled to Columbus?

/s

Exactly.

The best step…

Exactly.

The best step for the university right now might be making what most of us suspect is the next step official and name Moore the HC in waiting.

It gives recruits, transfer portal guys, and (selfishly) us fans at least a little bit of certainty in these uncertain times!

LOVE these. They make the…

LOVE these. They make the rowing and spin sessions go by so much faster!

To be fair, 247 had Denegal…

To be fair, 247 had Denegal the 19th rated QB in that class, Orji 50th

Composite was Denegal 28, Orji 30

At this point, we’re bickering over hope and speculation, things “unprovable” until the season starts.

If it was a good play,…

If it was a good play, Gattis called it.

Fumbles and picks were Locksley play calls.

Right?

Halftime!

They’ll be…

Halftime!

They’ll be looking for him on the sidelines like he’s Bud Kilmer!

Every season, his team beat…

Every season, his team beat OSU and won a B1G championship.

Then 15-0, a national championship, and a fighting chance of going in the first round.

Go pursue your dreams.

JJ version of the Tim Tebow,…

JJ version of the Tim Tebow, “I’m coming back!”

Those young but unproven up…

Those young but unproven up and comers carry a lot more risk.

A team that whiffed on Brandon Staley or Matt Rhule may want what is likely a “safer” choice, even if the guy is 60.

If a team runs hard at…

If a team runs hard at Harbaugh, they also have to have a minority candidate lined up to interview, (and if it’s clear the team is putting you through this as a formality, why bother) and then if Harbaugh doesn’t take the job or whatever, now you have possibly several weeks of everyone knowing the eventual hire was a second tier choice, AND everyone knows you couldn’t have done due diligence since certain candidates cannot yet be interviewed. I think there’s good reason why only 1 NFL job has been filled.

The more I read and hear speculation, the more I gravitate towards the argument that Harbaugh’s agent is working on language with the university that protects Harbaugh from future NCAA reports & leaks, making it harder to fire him “with cause” and not paying him. Fired for losing? Get paid. Fired because the NCAA did NCAA things? Fired with cause and either not paid or for a lower negotiated amount.

If Harbaugh were to leave,…

If Harbaugh were to leave, DeBoer would be or have been a fantastic choice to replace him.

Hoping a team drafts him and…

Hoping a team drafts him and uses him like the Steelers use Jaylen Warren to complement Najee Harris.

Similar builds and running styles, though Corum better lateral abilities while Warren more straight line speed.

If Harbaugh goes to the NFL …

If Harbaugh goes to the NFL (and takes Minter with him), the culture argument pretty much dictates that Moore goes to HC, Hart/Campbell to Co-OC, Clinkscale to DC, and Newsome to OL, right? So looking for a TEs coach, LBs coach…
