Easy to promise a guy he'll be in the two deep when you barely have enough bodies to fill a two deep!

Sanguinetti is an interesting prospect from the perspective that his name was thrown around quite a bit here early, then again after Hill flipped to 'Bama, but since Dax "came home" and Q. Johnson's commitment became more solid, Sanguinetti seemed to vanish again.

And a prospect at 5'6, 140? Sounds like me when I was still in the womb.

Let's hope.

01/13/2019 - 10:56am McElwain, Mattison,…

McElwain, Mattison, Washington out.

Gattis, Campanile in.

Was McDaniels ever made official WR Coach beyond the Peach Bowl?

OC/WR: Gattis

RB: Harbaugh

TE: Moore

OL: Warriner

QB: Hamilton

---------------------

Defensively: Brown, Campanile, Zordich, Partridge, New DL Hire

01/13/2019 - 10:16am I've written before that I'm…

I've written before that I'm actually ok with it, if his position is something like Assistant Head Coach & Quarterbacks coach. His job is to learn Gattis' offense and tailor QB instruction to meet the needs of the offense, as is done in almost every other situation.

Pep seems to be similar to guys like Warriner, Drevno, and even Brady Hoke, guys that are good at coaching and teaching a specific position but their talents are diluted or even lost when asked to coordinate an entire offense, defense, or program.

(Wasn't Harrison Bailey's hesitancy to commit to UM related to uncertainty regarding Pep still being with the program long term?)

01/13/2019 - 9:50am His name was tossed around…

His name was tossed around last week too. Experienced, good resume, from Ohio, but questions about recruiting since his last job in the college game was DL coach at Notre Dame in 1994.

And OT'ish, but maybe not since this shows there's still time and other programs who also are filling in staff openings, Alabama had both Steve Sarkisian and Chip Long in yesterday for meetings/interviews. Can you imagine one of those guys taking a position other than offensive coordinator? Would they agree to be Co-OC? And while some discussed Pep staying in the college game (Maryland, Charlotte) is it looking more and more like if he leaves, it's to the NFL?

01/13/2019 - 9:19am Michigan LB in the mid 90s,…

Michigan LB in the mid 90s, DL coach, Associate Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at Notre Dame.

Yeah, I'd say that'd be a home run hire!

01/13/2019 - 9:17am Glad you are!

You do…

Glad you are!

You do make a good potential comparison between Warriner with the OL and the potential new hire with the DL, especially the impact on the inside, ESPECIALLY with Mazi Smith on campus already and the importance of Donovan Jeter in his 3rd year in the program.

01/13/2019 - 8:44am Jerry Montgomery or Mike…

Jerry Montgomery or Mike Trgovac would both be good hires, Montgomery the better recruiter and Trgovac perhaps the better overall coach.

I wonder if maybe the Gattis and Campanile hires have taken some of the importance away from the new DL being a dynamite recruiter as many on Tuesday night were speculating.

Gattis + Campanile > Mattison + Washington

01/12/2019 - 1:38pm I was thinking the same…

I was thinking the same thing. That running back from Maryland who verbaled to Alabama but did not sign his letter maybe following Gattis, his primary recruiter, to Michigan.

01/11/2019 - 12:31pm Good for him.

Unless…

Good for him.

Unless Gattis does an Enos and goes to Alabama shortly after taking a job at UM.

01/11/2019 - 11:58am I'd be fine with him staying…

I'd be fine with him staying as Assistant Head Coach/Quarterbacks.

If he's a good position coach who just couldn't cut it as a coordinator/play caller, well, UM found success with an OL coach who fits that description.

01/11/2019 - 11:21am The problem is that people…

The problem is that people are too quick to go to extremes. If someone wanted to engage in a real conversation about the future of the offense, I think most/all would suggest bigger changes than Harbaugh (until yesterday) seemed willing to make.

But, "they need to ___" introduces a logical or rational thought/conversation whereas, "they need to fire ___" is an emotional rant. Emotion hangs lower on the tree than logic.

01/11/2019 - 8:44am Lost at Notre Dame =…

Lost at Notre Dame = Harbaugh sucks, here we go again, fire Harbaugh.

Won 10 straight = Harbaugh's the guy! He knows what he's doing!

Lost at OSU = Harbaugh sucks, here we go again, fire Harbaugh.

Flipped Dax Hill & signed solid recruiting class = Harbaugh's the guy! What a class!

Lost Peach Bowl = Harbaugh sucks, here we go again, fire Harbaugh.

Lost Mattison & Washington to OSU = Harbaugh sucks, he can't find and keep coaches, the good ones leave, he brings in bad NFL retreads, he doesn't understand recruiting, fire Harbaugh.

Get Gattis = Harbaugh can adapt and change, look at this up and comer, he can recruit! Harbaugh's the guy!

01/10/2019 - 3:58pm Could Pep just not be QB…

Could Pep just not be QB coach and Assistant HC?

Not necessarily predicting or advocating for this, but stating a possibility.

Would it really be that bad if he were just working with the QB's? He seems to get high praise from them.

Just let someone else design the passing plays and call the plays and Pep can work with the QB's on the execution of plays that other people design and call.

If you look at the state of Michigan football and of the state of this board, and you decide to abandon Michigan football and stick around this board, words are inadequate to describe your level of pathetic. What a bunch of disgusting bitches.

What's funny is I remember when Pitt hired him after NC State fired him and Pitt fans (of all people) thought they should have done better.

Then that one season comes out of nowhere and Pitt's offense beats Penn State and Clemson. After that, immediate failure at LSU.

He's quite a polarizing OC, which is a strong statement given the nature of that job already being so.

The younger folk more familiar with this individual and his position with the team and social media presence likely didn't have the same struggles as you did. This individual is rarely or never the source of new information but often the first indication that it is coming.

01/08/2019 - 6:04pm First time I remember seeing…

First time I remember seeing his name kicked around on here was 2010 when some wanted him to replace Rich Rod as head coach.

Hasn't coached in college though since the mid-90s. Have to wonder about his recruiting capabilities/abilities/interest.

Though, to be fair, similar questions regarding his predecessor.

01/08/2019 - 5:59pm Given Matt's propensity and…

Given Matt's propensity and reputation for cryptic tweets and gifs, pretty safe to bet that most people understand the indication that something has gone or is in the process of going down.

Don't get mad at me. I didn't shoot your mom.

01/08/2019 - 3:07pm Damn. Figured I caught all…

Damn. Figured I caught all the talk-to-text errors. I believe he is 36. He coached a family friend at Slippery Rock for what time.

Point being that the team lost a guy who while a great recruiter is rather inexperienced. Already have something similar in Partridge. Replaceable.

01/08/2019 - 2:09pm Let's say Michigan put up 62…

Let's say Michigan put up 62 on Ohio State.

Then hired OSU's 70 year old defensive line coach to be the Defensive Coordinator.

Then hired OSU's 60 year old linebackers coach after less than a year on the job and whose previous "best" job was Boston College to the same position.

I'm going to keep my torch unlit and my pitchfork in the shed for the time being.

01/07/2019 - 1:53pm Seriously. He's going from…

Seriously. He's going from being a position coach to being a coordinator. How difficult is this to grasp?

Instead of roasting him for this, I choose to remember that he humbled himself by going from DC under Hoke to a "demotion" of sorts back to DL coach under Harbaugh.

01/07/2019 - 8:57am Wow, this reads like a paper…

Wow, this reads like a paper for an English class.

For future reference, basic rules are that after the first time, a person can be referred to by last name only. No need for "Pep Hamilton" and "Andrew Luck" 8 times each.

01/04/2019 - 9:22am Perhaps the best defense of…

Perhaps the best defense of Harbaugh's tenure as UM coach is that a third 10 win campaign in four seasons relegates the program to "average" in the minds of some of its fans.

Bang!

01/03/2019 - 11:22am Exactly.

Too many …

Exactly.

Too many "experts" here completely forget about the importance of pass blocking.

01/02/2019 - 9:23pm Here we go again.

Here we go again.

Maybe you should get a new girlfriend. I'd rather read that blubbering nonsense than garbage like this.

01/02/2019 - 3:45pm Wow. If you seriously blame…

Wow. If you seriously blame the coaches for each and every one of those missed opportunities, then any moment I spend trying to discredit you would be a waste.

You've done it yourself, and in spectacular fashion.

01/02/2019 - 2:34pm So Brad Hawkins failing to…

So Brad Hawkins failing to break up the pass in the end zone at Notre Dame. Do you blame the coaches or the player?

How about Metellus on the 3rd and long pass against Florida, where he for whatever reason stopped running allowing Franks to throw over him to the receiver for the 1st down? The one where they ran a one man route for the yardage and the safety didn't get depth. Coaches or player?

Or Patterson underthrowing Collins on the interception. Coaches or player?

Black not coming down with the ball in the end zone. Coaches or player?

Chris Partridge?

12/30/2018 - 4:01pm Yep.

Coach's fault the…

Yep.

Coach's fault the punter dropped the ball, then picked it up, then tried a damn near physically impossible kick of the ball from the side, tossing it into a defender's arms for a one in a million touchdown.

Coach's fault.

By this logic, I don't blame you for this inane nonsense. I guess it's not your fault you think this idiocy and then share it with others. I blame your mom.

12/30/2018 - 3:05pm Problem is that too many…

Problem is that too many dipshits here can't make the distinction between criticism and firing.

Many want Harbaugh fired.

When those of us who don't try to make that point, we're dismissed as thinking he doesn't deserve criticism or that changes don't need to be made.

Harbaugh should and will remain the head coach. And he has changes/improvements to make.

Both can be and are simultaneously true.

But I'm sure that what's to follow will be a litany of stupidity and logical fallacies that have become all too common for this blog.

We all watched this fanbase shit on Lloyd Carr and erroneously think that there would be a line of uber-qualified HC candidates fighting each other for this job. And we saw that wasn't the case, only to watch a guy whose team should have been playing for a NC take the job because he lost at home to a 38 point underdog, followed by a guy who was in over his head before his first press conference ended.

And now we're watching 2007/2008 all over again because the dumb faction of this fanbase is too stupid to know it's stupid and too dumb to understand it when it's pointed out to them.

12/30/2018 - 2:57pm I don't.

Two years…

I don't.

Two years before this one, his gameplans beat OSU. But Speight threw a pick 6, another pick ended up with OSU starting in the redzone, and Speight lost a fumble at the goaline.

Year later, John O'Korn couldn't hit a wide open Chris Evans, and an option route that created 3 (THREE!) wide open receivers ended up in an inexplicable ball down the middle to an OSU safety.

It's perfectly ok to have the opinion that I do, to simultaneously believe that Jim Harbaugh's the guy AND that he has to be better moving forward.

But that's a bit too complex for the MGoBlog simpletons.

This fanbase deserves for Harbaugh to go back to the NFL and leave them looking for crumbs to fill a Head Coaching position.

12/30/2018 - 2:52pm Wow does this fanbase have…

Wow does this fanbase have some really stupid and loud components.

One would think the lesson would have been learned after the outcry against Carr led to Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke. A miracle was dropped in our laps that after those two nightmares, the program got Jim Harbaugh.

But nope, dipshits gonna dipshit.

Thankfully, the MGoBlog provides them the perfect outlet for it.

12/29/2018 - 8:19pm Thoughts?
