At this rate I'd be happy with 8-5. And by happy I mean I'll read about it later because I can't stomach that. We have to be better than that effort.... right!?!?!?

Mineral King called a win....

He also called McCaffrey 2nd string.

I think a lot of people owe him an apology.

But who the Fuck cares? Nothing was fixed and season is over.

QB play was much better than last year by both QB's.  The offensive line was worse. How can it be worse?  No excuse for that.  The receivers got open and made the catches so there's that. It all comes down to that line

I don’t know about the rest of you, but after the debacle of the hype train of 2017 and the dismal results, I was able to discount around 50% of this summers lies and bullshit.

The other 50% sucked me in a bit, but tonight was much less a surprise than say last years MSU loss.

I was a pessimistic as i could be. Everytime someone on here discounted ND like they did last year vs MSU and PSU and Wisconsin i ignored and fought the good fight. I knew 19 was NDs magic number.

That being said I really feel like an idiot for being TOO optimisitc. Reality was worse. My head hurts.

Why do anything other than play 3 patsies to start the year. Beat OSU msu psu and of course we will always play the best team from the west and the BIG ten championship. Thats double Bamas tough games.

When Bama wins a tough game (it is quite often I might add) it is usually in The National Championship Game. Big difference! At this point it is safe to say that EVERY game on UMs schedule will be tough. More often than not the "best  coach" on the field will be on the opposing teams sideline.

OLine was pathetic once again. Coaches didn't do anything from a Play calling perspective to try to mask the OL deficiencies. I saw enough from Runyan after 1 series, I don't know how he can possibly be the best option at LT.

Actually they did - most of the passes were quick throws and they had designed roll outs and wr screens. I think they knew that the OL was a problem going in. We also started chipping the DE in the second half - should have done that from the start.

I think this team will be better with multiple TE and backs until they get the OL sorted out. Forget the zone reads and empty looks.

I'm so sick of the hype every year with no results. I don't care if this is the thread for the offense, this program is ridiculous. Top 10 recruiting classes, all the reaources in the world, "Harbaugh". But yet we shit our pants in any game that means anything. Harbaugh is a joke. It's true and anyone that has eyeballs knows it's true. Enough with the "who has it better than us?!" bullshit, because everyone has it better than us! For the past 15 years our teams have been soft, coaching has been putrid and we're a shell of what we used to be. We were unbelievably lucky to lose that game by 7 pts. We're irrelevant. Truth hurts. And yes I'm actually sober. Just pissed.

I remember reading something last week that Jon Jansen said this OL was looking tons better than last year.  Not sure he was looking at the same thing I saw tonight.

I think I have hit a whole new stage of grief tonight.

GOOD NEWS!

We won't actually miss Tarik that much. Remember when we was all freakin about how NOW it's time to adjust expectations after he got hurt? Lulz.

He wouldn't have made a difference either.

What a bunch of buttholes we Michigan fans are.

Way to many mistakes.  Botched FG, sack to put us out of FG range, late hit, failure to knock the ball down or intercept it when it is right in front of your face.

Harbaugh cant field an offensive line. Patterson is actually a pretty good qb . but if u can’t give him time it doesn’t matter. The WR are ok TE are decent but the team needs an oline. Dantonios gonna have a field day if this is the best we can do let alone Meyer

McCaffrey is the real deal. I was in the open practice and have a feeling that he already pass Peters, based on his accuracy and consistentcy. Peter threw a lot of sloppy throw in those simple practice.

I am completely unsurprised when he become a 2nd QB. And his play wow me. He has pressure on his face as well, but make every decision right in a split second. He just need more experience. He is the real deal. there were two three plays, when the pressure comes, he make a play for a positive gain for a few yards, keep the chain moving. He will be our real deal. Give our crappy OL again, I am not suprised he will start at some point this season. This O group just cannot protect our QBs.

THey looked like a team in its first preseason game with a new QB and band aids at OT.  A month from now they have a legit chance to beat this team.  They better be ahead of Scott Frost.

I hope you’re right, but I think Frost is a significantly better college coach than Harbaugh.  He took a UCF team that was winless and had them undefeated in just 2 years - and their bowl win over Auburn is more impressive than any win by Harbaugh while at Michigan.

We could have won, we also could have lost by 28 as ND went into a shell on offense the second half.

Patterson was bad, no two ways about it. Showed some things, but overall a D+ performance. I tried to tell people to slow their roll on him, he was not a good QB last season when you look inside his numbers. He put up almost all his good number vs FCS teams, 4-8 Vanderbilt, and Auburn’s 3rd sting defense. I still like his skill set, but he’s a work in progress.

Biggest problem with Patterson is his processing speed and his tendency to hold onto the ball too long. The first sack that put them out of FG range is a good example why. It was an empty with an obvious blitz coming to the frontside. What did Shea do? Hold onto the ball too long.

He was better than I thought he would be but still wasn't good enough to mask the OL deficiencies.

One of the biggest examples of this was probably the biggest play in the second half.

We were driving and had a 2nd and 1 and then there was either miss communication or something between Higdon and Ruiz but their LB Coney came on a delayed blitz up the middle and neither got him. Looked like Higdon was going to chip and then look for a pass but regardless Patterson needs to feel that pressure and either side step it and run up a huge whole in the middle or just eat it. Instead he threw it off his back foot to a spot that clearly wasn't open.

Harbaugh can’t design or run a top flight college offense anymore.  The only decent offense was a Jed Fish creation.  It’s not Drevno or Pep, it’s Harbaugh.  I’m not saying fire him or anything stupid like that.  There isn’t anyone better available.  It’s just a fact there isn’t some glorious “fully operated Harbaugh-fence” that we are moving toward.  It will sometimes be better than this, because we have to eventually get P5 level play from at least one tackle.  But it’s never going to be great unless we get a real college OC and let him run the show.

Agreed! "Theres no one out there better" is total BS. I am so tired seeing programs rise from the dead and pass Michigan by. There are far better coaches out there than Harbaugh. Problem is he was placed on a pedestal and proclaimed the "savior" of UM football. Fact is the prodigal son has not delivered. Time will come where there will only be two options...stay the course with JH and accept the fact UM will be 8-9 win program every year, or count our losses and move forward.Other teams show improvement coming out of offseason, why does Michigan wait to do it during the season?

It not my job to find Michigan a new head football coach.  It's Warde's.

But any, literally ANY P5 coach that has won 1-2 games against top 25 teams for a few years in a row would likely be an improvement.

Many are sleaze bags with unwanted baggage that understandably disqualifies them, but here is a list of P5 coaches and where they were subjectively ranked this Spring.

I wouldn't automatically limit it to P5 but ponder for yourself.

Our offense is terrible. It’s not just the oline. Our D blew up ND’s Oline all game.

Our play calling lost us this game. How many times did shea Patterson throw the ball downfield on first down. On obvious passing downs, why did we not use misdirection, screens, slants, etc.  Who runs on 2nd and 14, only to go for it on 4th and 7.

ND beat us by being aggressive on offense and using our speed against us. We adjusted on D in the second half, but we had a “play not to lose” offensive game plan the whole game.  We have the worst offensive play calling that you can buy. Any of us, would get fired for this sad game plan.

we did use one slant in 1st quarter and it was successful on a 3rd down. they could call more with Shea's accuracy. The coach didn't help him to win. they were overconfident about their OL and DL, and when shit happened on the field, they don't have a back-up plan to fix the OL issue and implement those in their game plan. the two running call after we intercept their ball still bothers me. What the hell? just get a long throw to test their safety. didn't your coaches read Brian's post about ND's weakness?
