He's not been our most productive receiver though. That's my point. He had a great first 3 games, but since you he was a freshman it's not exactly easy to simply project those numbers out for the entire year.

Perry and DPJ are more experienced than Black. Nico approached Black in games played last year as well.

In both route running and production, Perry has been our best Wide Receiver. Talk to anybody who knows and they'll tell you that the best WRs in camp have been Perry and Nico Collins. That's what we know.

I'm not making any kind of case that Black is overrated - he clearly looks like a stellar WR and missing him would be a blow. BUT, saying he's our best WR based on 2.8 games is certainly projection that overlooks the experience, production, and what players and coaches say about who has performed best this offseason.

Disagree.  How many years have we had a guy put up big numbers in the first three or so games and then either disappear or drop off drastically?  Just because he had a few good games doesn't solidify him there.  I would argue Grant Perry is hands down our top receiver and the argument can certainly be made for DPJ as well.

Agreed. The people that are trying to hand wave this off are crazy. This is a terrible development. I think it's reasonable to remove a game from the 'W' column predictions for this.

We desperately need a passing game, and this guy was going to be a key piece of the 2018 campaign. This is huge loss.

Definitely feels like we never catch a break. As for this *possible* injury, it sucks more for Tarik Black than it does for us or the team. We've got more receiving options (although he was definitely one of the best) but man, after last year I really feel for him if this true.

On the positive side who would have guessed the reciever from that class we'd get a 5th year from would be Black? Amirite?

This sucks.

It's certainly bad news if Black is indeed severely injured, but we've heard of no other severe injuries, and despite what some myopic posters might say, (THEY PLAY A FULL CONTACT GAME EVERY WEEK YOU IDIOT!!! WHAT IS ONE EXTRA SCRIMMAGE GONNA CHANGE). Getting out of camp with one or no major injuries is good for a tough camp.

If he was really seen on a cart, that's almost certainly not for a cramp. Guys can get sideline treatment for cramps and walk them off. A cart is generally not good, though sometimes results aren't known until later.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if carts were used cautiously, whenever there was a chance they were needed. Doesn't necessarily mean this rumored cart-use was just being cautious, but I don't think the team wants a situation where Grant Newsome is walking off the field on his own anymore.

Sam has stated that he hasn't heard anything definitive. It sounds like the rumors are pure speculation based on what people have seen. It sounds like Nico has been the best WR on the team in camp, so this may be a situa where our depth will conpletel mitigate an injury like this.

Is that Sam speaking behind a firewall? He'd probably be the guy with the best chance to hear first.

Collins got a lot of talk, but I haven't heard chatter that suggests he's been the best in camp, just that he's drawn chatter. But if you're on a subscription service where that sort of info is leaking out you may be better informed than me.

Maybe pushing from behind since he didn't play as much last year. It's one thing to do it in practice, probably would need to show it in a game to overtake DPJ or Tarik, though they likely would have all gotten plenty of snaps.

Sounds like he'll have his opportunity now though. Hopefully Black's injury isn't too serious and we can see all 3 of them on the field soon.

After reading what Sam posted it sounds like Tarik might be hurt. Not the same injury to the same foot as last year. But they don’t know the severity of the injury yet. That’s how it read to to me at least.
