Then you want the status quo, FSU stomping Duke and OSU stomping Sparty for FSU vs. OSU.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:23 AM ^
If either team loses...an SEC team goes.
And don't think for a second that if one of the teams lose and Mizzou WAXES Auburn that SEC fans won't be chanting SEC and taking back all of the shit they gave Mizzou last year.

winning is kinda nice.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:20 AM ^
Any mix up and the SEC plays. Two mix ups and the SEC will win.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:21 AM ^
Any sort of chaos benefits the SEC, and a lot of chaos (Duke and MSU winning) could lead to an all SEC championship game.
December 7th, 2013 at 7:17 PM ^
I agree, if both FSU and OSU lose, we will see an all SEC championship, which make it even more of a joke. It's bad enough that college football is the only major sport without a rudimentary playoff, to have two teams from the same conference and call that a championship is laughable. It's really a testament to great marketing that this sport is as popular as it is.

That will likely mean Mizzou vs. Bama in the MNC game.
Dear god no. No no no. No.

Duke wins, sparty wins and Auburn wins.
AU vs Bama in the national championship....
PAWWWWWLLLL!

December 7th, 2013 at 11:25 AM ^
and urban meyer to punch jameis winston on the sideline after he makes a good play.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:27 AM ^
I would prefer if Urban Meyer punches Braxton Miller after he makes a bad play.
December 7th, 2013 at 3:16 PM ^
December 7th, 2013 at 1:47 PM ^
Or one of the other linebackers. After Miller throws an interception.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:32 AM ^
The only thing I don't want to see is Alabama backing their way into the NC game.
FSU must win and even if OSU does not, the winner of the Auburn/Mizzou game should probably get it.
I don't really care if OSU gets in or not because I think they lose no matter who they play.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:35 AM ^
I'm in for any scenario by which Ohio State ends up in the Rose Bowl and Michigan State doesn't.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:36 AM ^
Sparty wins, crushes ohio's season. Sparty gets summarily demolished in Rose Bowl game vs Stanford. Ohio has another scandal (there's always one brewing down there) and loses major players and gets smashed in a BCS game vs (insert opponent), FSU defeats any SEC team in NC game, Michigan blows out decent opponent in whatever lame bowl we go to. Nick Saban goes to Texas, Hand comes to UM. All becomes right in the universe.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:49 AM ^
I think you have pretty much nailed it.
Living in Columbus, the only thing I really cannot have is Ohio winning a National Championship in urban's 2nd year (and claims that they would have won two straight blah blah blah...)
December 7th, 2013 at 3:19 PM ^
yeah, but adding a scandal kind of opens the doors of possibility too far. But yeah, Ohio scandal would be ideal. Especially if it includes coach/player sexual relations that are consentual/legal because of age, but frowned upon b/c of the position of power of the coach. Nobody really gets hurt, except poor Ohio fans.
Again, I'm not saying it's true, I'm just saying I read it on the internet.
December 7th, 2013 at 2:41 PM ^
I Northern Illionois blows out Alabama in whatever bowl they're in, which causes Saban to be run out of town. In addition, it would stop the media's slob-knobbing of the SEC. Then ALL THE RECRUITS

FSU isn't losing to Duke. The talent gap is simply to large.
December 7th, 2013 at 12:11 PM ^
Massey is giving Florida State a 97% estimated win probability with a median projected score of 45-20. I have to say, I would be surprised if Duke scored 20 points in this game, but I would tend to agree that the chance of an upset here would be exceedingly remote. That being said, it would probably cause the ACC to implode somehow if it happened.
December 7th, 2013 at 12:57 PM ^
Duke defense player all acc 3
FSU defense players all acc 1
I picked duke to win this one, I maybe the only one not from NC to do so.
December 7th, 2013 at 3:22 PM ^
yes, it is simple, but not *too* simple.
December 7th, 2013 at 11:50 AM ^
My initial reaction has been to consider cheering for Sparty to upset Ohio. Then, I realized that a Sparty victory would affect Michigan a lot more than an Ohio victory would, because it would help Sparty in recruiting where Ohio pretty much buys whoever they really want anyway. Besides, I detest Sparty and Ohio, but at least I have respect for Ohio.
So, my preference will have to be Ohio winning and getting crushed by FSU, Sparty backing into the Rose Bowl, where they are made to look utterly inept by Stanford or ASU, and every other Big Ten team winning their bowl games so the conference has a good record.

- OSU wins 3-2
- Auburn rolls Missouri
- FSU wins
- Sparty drops to 15, Capital One Bowl, destroyed by LSU
- OSU gets beat down in Pasadena
- FSU wins by 30
- Gardner puts up ~1,000 yards on Gergs defense
December 7th, 2013 at 1:50 PM ^
A Spartan victory is the least worst outcome. I don't think Dantonio would be able to capitalize on a Rose Bowl appearance the way Meyer would on a BCS championship appearance.

I haven't been following it all that closely (what's the point?) but I believe the current margin in the computers is something like .02, with #3 Auburn playing #5 Missouri and #2 OSU playing #10 MSU. If it comes down to the voters, Auburn rolling and OSU winning an epically ugly game just might put them on the outside.
Like I said, though, I haven't been reading any of the "experts" and I'm decidedly not an expert. It would definitely be maximum chaos, in any event.
December 7th, 2013 at 12:17 PM ^
Personally, I'd love an Iron Bowl rematch in the MNC. What I'd really want is FSU-Alabama, but that doesn't seem possible at this point.
As long as OSU doesn't win it all, then I'm okay with whatever happens.
December 7th, 2013 at 12:22 PM ^
No one outside of the SEC would watch that. Bama/LSU was disaster in terms of ratings and in the fact that no one cared about that game at all.
December 7th, 2013 at 12:46 PM ^
Correct me if wrong. MSU wins and both teams have 1 loss. Sparty gets the BCS nod on tiebreaker. No chance Ohio plays for a MNC and Sparty goes to Pasadena. Ohio gets a BCS berth and Michigan goes from Gator (projected) to BWW Bowl. Sparty gets hammered. Ohio gets upset. Michigan schools Gerg. Schadenfreude abounds.

I know it's not likely, which is why I hope Sparty wins today. I can handle teams I hate being in BCS bowls. Even if they win (which is unlikely given the level of competition in BCS bowls), it won't mean much in a few years. National Championships last forever, and I don't want Ohio State to even have a chance to pull of some crazy upset.
December 7th, 2013 at 2:25 PM ^
To me, it's OSU, hands-down. We get too many of our players from the state of Ohio, and we cannot afford Meyer to lock down the state recruiting-wise like Tressel did. If Meyer wins a NC in his second year, it's going to make Hoke's recruiting job that much tougher in Ohio.
Which means I'm rooting hard for MSU to beat OSU, and given my family roots at MIzzou, I'm rooting hard for the Tigers to beat the Tigers and end up playing FSU in the NC game.
December 7th, 2013 at 2:34 PM ^
Ohio State rips MSU so badly they drop out of the Top 14 (with a few schools behind them winning just to make sure). No BCS bowl for Sparty. Then Auburn and FSU both lose, and Alabama backs into the title game. I know, I know, them winning again would suck. But Ohio State fans have been talking all kinds of shit about how they'd beat 'Bama (now that they are sure they're safe from running into them), and it would be great to see them slaughtered even if it means another Saban victory. Plus I kind of feel that the next non-'Bama champion should have to dethrone the Tide to do it, and not via some completely freak play.
