We now need a second legend patch on the #21 Jersey.

But, I think we just saw how Funchess is helping Gallon. This would not have happened 3 weeks ago.
October 19th, 2013 at 7:37 PM ^
I wonder if they aren't helping each other off and on. Gallon had the monster game v ND and then disappeared, then Funchess had 2 monster games (with little Gallon) and now Gallon with the monster game again. Might be D-coordinators alternating on overreacting
October 19th, 2013 at 8:26 PM ^
Gallon had 184 receiving yards against ND. He was the focal point of the passing game, but then when defenses started shading a safety over, that opened it up for Funchess. Now DCs are going to have a big headache trying to figure out how to cover both.

Which means the rest of the team can play 9-on-7. Fitz, Butt, Jackson, and Chesson should be licking their chops.

QBs throw for over 500 yds more often than receivers get over 300 yards
October 19th, 2013 at 8:28 PM ^
Actually, no Michigan QB had ever passed for 400 yards in a game before, much less 500.
Gardner had 584 total yards and 5 TDs (3 rushing, 2 passing), both school records. Hard to turn the guy down for POTG after that.
October 19th, 2013 at 8:43 PM ^
He meant generally. Gallon's is a much rarer accomplishment.
October 19th, 2013 at 8:49 PM ^
Well, how often does a guy throw for 500 and rush for 3 TDs in the same game? It may have never happened before. Devin not only threw it all over the place but was a huge part of the running game, too.

Manningham, with 1174 in 2007. Braylon has the all-time single season mark with 1330; Gallon needs a hair over 83 yards per game to match that if we don't make it to Indianapolis, 71 and change if we do.
After today he's averaging 8YPG more than Braylon's 2004 season, backloaded schedule caveats and all that, though.

Funchess also got over 80 yards. Nice day for him as well.

I don't think he's quite as good as the three you mentioned - those guys scored a lot more TDs. Braylon caught 39 TDs (which I believe is a B1G record), AC 37 and Desmond 32. Gallon has 15 in his career.
Still, he's in the conversation for top 10 receivers all-time here.
