I'm not an experienced CEO like Mr. Dave Brandon, sir but I can't fathom the purpose of a meeting that long on the heels of a crisis. Action (and statements) should be swift and definitive. You don't need a goddamn meeting to say "whoops, we fucked up, sorry dudes." I can't imagine what was said the other 16hrs and 45 minutes after they found a way to eloquently say that. I don't care who you are, there's nothing you're going to be able to say after that bad of a look to make it all better. You're just wasting everyone's time. What a pack of fucking clowns.
|1 day 13 hours ago||weddings||
My good friend caused me to miss the Forcier ND game due to his wedding in NC.
The next year my cousin got married on the day of the Ill v. Michigan 1,000 pt fest and I passed on going to his wedding BC I had tickets. I feel justified in the second instance bc they later divorced anyway.
I had my wedding on a Saturday in the fall...it was on a Michigan bye week.

Unless you're one of the mescaline sniffing Tigers-fans who thought they had a chance to make the playoffs there's almost no way they could lose either trade.
There's a 0% chance they could have re-signed Price. And Frankly, their odds are better NOW to get Cespedes back than before. They had to trade both of them (and Soria, too). Unless you can prove they were offered and turned down a better prospect deal, they aboslutely won all three trades.

ACER/ASUS has some slick designs, even toshiba, my HP Elitebook is practically a macbook pro clone...
if you can spend more than 600/700 on a laptop its harder to find an ugly looking, powerful laptop than the opposite.

by and large Macbooks and macbook airs were more or as powerful than their PC counterparts and didn't look like something a soviet era architect designed with all the portability of a boat anchor.
I'm not talking software. most of the PC laptopss until the last half decade were more similar to a cinder block than a macbook.

When the macbooks/macbook airs/etc came out they were light years ahead of windows in terms of power, style, functionality. Now it's basically just preference. you can get a superior laptop to a macbook air with the same size/weight/performance/sharp design for a lot less.

I was shocked that a high profile program like USC played at a complete shithole. I'm sure the player and team facilities are nice but the fan experience is garbage and the stadium looks and feels like its a crumbling mess.
The campus was pretty nice, (with the exception of the surrounding area of the stadium which fels like Stabbsville) the coeds were spectacular but the stadium, woof.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||take away from Craig Ross blurb:||
RR was lambasted by pretty much everyone for trying to spread and shred from day 1 without any pieces (for any offense) and was said to have cost us games. However, by the end of year 2 and fully into year 3 we saw that offense start to show signs of life. He got the axe, Hoke came in and tried to slowly turn that platypus into a unicorn and other than year 1 (where he was blessed with Denard) the offense looked like it had no idea what it was trying to do.
Not that I worry about this with HARBAUGH but I think the lesson here is to have an identity and run as much of it as possible in year one, then make the transition as quickly as possible after that. People will argue "adjust the system to the players" and while I understand the calls for that I think knowing who you are and executing on that is the better play.
You may have more growing pains at the start of running what you know, but you have a higher ceiling and likely a shorter learning curve for all involved. If you're adjusting the system to the players you'll probably have an easier time at first, but your curve will be long and you're already at least calling into question the ceiling because you have no idea what the end result even looks like.

I didn't bring saad into the convo. Also not sure what you're getting at. ROR is worth 3m/y more because he's got 15lbs and an inch on Gus?
|3 weeks 4 days ago||he's priced about right.||
I know people see that as a lot...but in today's NHL...its just not.
Ryan O'Reilly has had almost identical PPG stats as Gus in Gus' two NHL years and he makes 7mm a year. TJ Oshie is another who's about the exact same player statswise and he makes right about what Gus is going to. This is a fair deal that will be a steal if Gus goes to the next level somewhere during the course of it.

take a look at the goalies with 300 wins (there's 31 of them. Now see how many have won 2 cups as a starter) (hint, there aren't many and they're all in the HHOF.

IIRC Filppula was wanting a 5+ MM deal, the Wings weren't paying that and weren't waiting, they signed Weiss for the deal on the table for Fil and moved on. Fil signed later for what he could have gotten to stay here. Was an error on his agents part. (same with Damien Brunner who wanted an absurd deal that the wings walked away from).
Franzen over Hossa looks bad now, but at the time Franzen looked every bit the player of Hossa and younger (plus a bit cheaper) I won't kill Holland for that.

with customer service reps who care more about the gum on the bottom of their shoe than you,
and uverse is the shittier, cheaper, marginally (at best) better customer service expensive, evil, horrible company.
just like the cell phone industry. There's practically zero competition and the consumer suffers. I live in a city with its own cable system (which sucks, and is expensive.) My options are literally 1) crappy municipal cable and internet which are very expensive and not even close to speed/quality of comcast/uverse 2) uverse which has substandard equipment and speeds.
I agree with whoever said it upthread, we're the richest nation in the world and we have extremely middling home use technology and a high price tag. WTF, mate?

|8 weeks 5 days ago||I'm assuming he's pissed||
I'm assuming he's pissed because Holland can't sign top end talent despite the fact that he's offered equal or better contracts to every single player we've missed out on. Or maybe it's reloading this team to be elite in the cap era without having to deal Dats, Z or Kronner. No other franchise has the combination of continued success and level of prospects we have in the system. Ignore him he's another clueless 'hockey' fan who expects the same success after the adoption of the cap as we did when we could just outbid for every superstar out there. Almost every franchise who has had success is lacking for prospects; we have a stocked system that we're going to have to find places for. People in this town don't know shit about hockey and just love to bitch.

First one was a weekend tournament for our baseball team we had as many as six games in three days depending on if we won or lost. we didn't have enough pitchers with innings available going into the tourney. I finally convinced my coach to let me try (I wasn't a hard thrower so he didn't pay me any mind during the season) got the start in day two of the tourney and tossed 7 innings (max allowable for a weekend) of 3 hit 0 run ball.
A buddy of mine and I were the OLB for our 14 y.o. football team. we were playing a team with an option QB that was just killing us. We had no answer for his speed. Coach got frustrated and called a double OLB blitz on one of the last plays before the half. We took out our teams frustration by hitting that superstar option QB so hard simultaneously that he refused to reenter the game.
