I think both things can be…

I think both things can be valid: There's a lot of problems around admissions/NIL but part of being the head of the program and being successful is understanding what you are working with and adjusting. He's not navigated the challenges and his answers are complete failures at every level of roster construction and development. Just didn't work.

TBH, as someone refuses to take personal shots at Nook because he's still a great Wolverine whom I have had the opportunity to know a little bit from campus days, and just from an objective assessment, the Sanderson incident was enough (regardless of the spectrum of fault) to move on. The separate temperamental (perceived and otherwise) incidents taken together have cast a pall over the program in the absence of winning and has quickly destroyed the foundation of the uber successful previous regime.

As for Warde, this is completely different than Jim. Even the #fireharbaugh crowd had to admit that his track record as a HC probably leveraged another shot to right the ship - throwing out the COVID year, it's different looking at a 9-3 perennial team that couldn't be its arch nemesis than a first time head coach trending exponentially downward with few assets to build off of. Then again, I can't figure the AD out on any given day.

I've started every b-ball…

I've started every b-ball post with "I knew Juwan and love Juwan..." as a preamble to contextualize my criticism as coming from an objective POV with a subjective foundation. I knew Juwan and love Juwan, but the the gravity of the team, fair or not, is on him. Its makeup, its portal and roster misses and basketball IQ are all grounded in a set resonant bad decisions that have been exacerbated by an unhelpful admissions department, IRL health concerns and one too many intemperate interactions. Some bad luck, sure? But he has not set up the team or culture to survive modern day athletic travails.

The Harbaugh comparison is no analog. To state the obvious, his track record and rope was much longer that Nook's. That's just real talk. I also feel like with bball, you can turn around the culture much quicker and this season feels like 2 year's of precipitous fallout with no realistic hopeful foundation in sight.

Again, love the guy and what he's done for the U, but it all feels off and futile to keep this regime.

Settling on a definition of …

Settling on a definition of "bust" is a challenge, but I am a Desmond contemporary and thought he was the Second Coming when drafted to the Washington. Didn't seem like a fit from jump, given the way Washington was constructed, but still thought he was underutilized to the point of "bust-ish" perception. The Resurrection in Green Bay and a SBMVP, notwithstanding, I thought he was a HOFer coming out of the Heisman year...

Also, thought Wheatley was going to be the next Jim Brown. Still the most impressive athlete I've seen live on a college football field to this day. Again, what separates underachieving/surprising disappointment and "bust" has a few subjective filters, I guess.

This is the most Michigan…

This is the most Michigan response, ever. Well played.

Agree - hard to read and…

Agree - hard to read and harder to write. I am a Fab Five vintage alumnus and those were such fun, heady days at the U. Watching those guys play pickup at the SQuad courts and seeing them lumber into the MLB all emerging from a tiny red Toyota (?) that, to this day, seemed like a magic trick.

My SQuad buddies played Tecmo Bowl with Jinx while they mooched Cottage Inn and happily signed t-shirts that they didn't get a dime off of. All of them were mythical and just normal guys at the same time. Big Nook was the nicest, most sincere out of them and I have great personal affection for him despite some very out-of-character incidents that don't square with the guy who was magnanimous with us non-student athlete sycophants.

All that preamble is to say, this isn't working. Obviously, the lack of roster construction, development and recruiting coherence largely fall on the HC. Some of it unfair, but in a result-driven business you cannot shirk from the the fact that the buck stops there - no matter how you got there.

Those are just facts. Forget that the "vibe" and "feels" around the program have taken precipitous nosedive with no offramp on the horizon. It's okay to have zero vitriol for Juwan and say "thanks for your service." He'll always be a legend and icon in A2, but this is untenable on almost every level from perception down to actual play.

Will Warde pull the trigger? Probably not. In fairness to Juwan, he probably deserves one more shot to get it right given the portal, NBA, an adversarial admissions department and severe health scare - but it is unconceivable, as of this writing, what foundation that would be based on. Anyway, I hope he can move on with some grace. Go Blue!

Same. I got a list of problems with Warde, but feel the handwringing over this transition and the aspects he is responsible for, is a bit overboard. Balas (which is his right) is just sharing his agenda. Any opportunity for the fanbase to freak out is fair game as opinion, but as reported fact is bit dubious.

First season, epic. Second season, picked up where it left off but steadily started to regress back to the (Star Wars Expanded Universe) mean. Third season? Laughable descent into Book of Fett incoherence.

I would like to know if writers and show runners were all drugged or replaced this season. I haven't had the time to vet who is still involved in the project other than the Mouse money machines.

Sparty forgets their coach's…

Sparty forgets their coach's disrespect and public embrace of The Horror and his "moment of silence" comment spurred Mikey's "Little Brother" jab. Just because he performed some kind of emotional alchemy, turning it into a redwood sized chip on his and the program's shoulder, doesn't erase the chronology of events. THEY made it a big deal despite it being a relatively benign and oft-used pejorative. Good for them, but to equivocate some disrespekt as justification for the increasingly sinister motivational responses and violent in-game impulses - not so much.

Having to parse MSU insolence is a loathsome, but illuminating, exercise since their Pravda  chamber seems to have an alternative facts problem.

Uhhh...not cool. we've heard and seen him speak - he's a bright, thoughtful young man that seems universally loved (making this even more hurtful) - and yes, it could be any number of meanings with "glitch," but misses the point. As sincere as he sounds in his statement, he would have been better off saying that he was unaware of how this retweet would be perceived and, upon reflection, realized the implications of what was being conveyed through Ye's absurd and hateful trope.

Met him as well in a parking lot off of Stadium as I sulked back to my tailgate after the first Tressel reckoning in A2. He was incredibly gracious and sincerely just happy for himself and his team, as opposed to that kind of existential perma-schadenfreude you get from most their clan.

That was glorious and I had just found out that I was admitted early to the U in my senior year of high school.

1991, 31-3. In my sophomore year, my roommate's dad, who was a Buckeye alum, brought him and some of his buddies to our house on Cambridge Court and bought us beer. Some of the worse fucking beer I've ever imbibed: Cincy Cream Ale and Rhinelander.

Looking back, I think they were punking us as we guzzled the swill (not saying no to free brews and our party ball was tapped - dating myself even more) and all wound up with sour stomachs for the rest of the weekend.

The game itself was a classic in all the ways that I remember meaningful November football - it was a late Thanksgiving so the game was right before break and winter exams: Party time. Also, it was so gray, but not ridiculously cold like it should be for Big Ten Country! The rout was on from the get and we never worried about the outcome. Our boda bags were full of 7&7 (refilled with Stadium Sprites and asspockets of Seagrams 7 secured at Stadium Liquor on the way down) and my buddy's dad and his retinue were a bunch of angry old men who were only getting the last laugh regarding our bowels. Never in danger of losing and rubbing it in was our only revenge.

Added bonus for the euphoria was sweeping ND/MSU/OSU despite it being a typical Michigan year of my college days: 10-2 with a Rose Bowl loss. Then on to some serious underage drinking and burgers at Charlies...a lifetime ago, figuratively, and literally.
