Sucks for Nebraska as a football team and for the young man. Hope he learns how dangerous DUI can be and why there are such serious repercussions for doing so.

Better to get caught doing something stupid and face the consequences yourself than to hurt other people and watch them pay the consequences. Hope the discipline he faces helps him understand how life-altering some mistakes can be so he can steer clear of them in the future, both for his sake and for everyone around him.

Few weeks ago there was a DUI accident near the entrance of our subdivision.  Our neighbor told us the sheriff made the drunk guy stand there and watch as they used the jaws of life to extract the innocent people he injured.  Only after they were taken away by ambulance did the sheriff take the drunk guy to jail.

They'll do anything to avoid a good ass-whuppery in Nebraska.

EDIT: I know I'm making light of something serious. Respect to those more serious comments here. Does look like one of their more important players. Revise expectations upward.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Yes, I have a pretty clear idea of the impact of an anonymous message board comment. But a good friend lost her husband to a drunk who was driving with his license revoked, and we do tend to make light of such incidents.

I think Jamie said on the podcast that one of Nebraska's starting ILBs is also out for the year with an injury. That defense was bad to begin with.
