Very happy they made it to the Round of 16 and if you had told me we would get through the Group stage I would have been happy and perhaps a little suprised.  However, how we did it, and particularly Bradley's play, makes me think we should've won the group.

On the glass half full side, there have been several pleasant suprises from the team, so I'm not all doom and gloom.  I just don't get what is up with Bradley.  Maybe I'm being hyper critical.

I guess I look at it like Ohio State's football season last year.  I'm glad we went 12-0 in the regular season, but the way we did it at times had me very worried about the CCG and the bowl game.

I'm awaiting the trailer for our next game.

"They weren't expected to make it this far (cue clips of people saying the U.S. won't advance). Against the odds, they survived the group of death (clip of some U.S. goal highlights). Now,  they take on Belgium in the knockout stage, where it's win or go home. FIFA World Cup. United States. Belgium. Tonight, 6:00 P.M. on ABC."

You know, my mother was cheering on Germany, being German herself, and now she won't answer her cell phone AND she owes me $20 because we're out of the Group. To this, I say, "Pick up, mom...the trolling will not take long."

Other than that, very nice to see us going to the knockout round again. If I am not mistaken, we will play our as yet unknown opponent on Tuesday at 4 PM, which works MUCH better around this employment deal.

Some have already stated that Belgium isn‘t necessarily a bad match up for us. I feel that way too. Especially when you consider the other 1st place teams. Maybe we really can get some more icing on this cake. Go USA!

Our corner of the bracket isn't as dominating as it could be. Argentina is the best team (?) and they haven't looked great at all. I would take our theoretical route into the semis over any other team, especially second place teams.

Belgium, Argentina, and the Netherlands are our projected opponents.  The only one that really makes me worry is the Netherlands and Australia kept them within reach throughout their match.  If we had won, our projected path would have been Algeria, France, and Brazil.  Algeria is definitely the weakest of all of the teams we would face on either side but I want no part of France or Brazil until the final.  Germany can have their win.  Works for me.

Watched the match from Grant Park in Chicago with tens of thousands of other U.S. fans. Disappointing to lose, but thrilled to advance! Go Von Trapps!
