Pretty sure that was a hoax,…

Pretty sure that was a hoax, no? Either way horrifying to see back in the day.

Can I cackle with knowing…

Can I cackle with knowing glee or just regular glee? I'm probably very late to this but when did that change? I think I noticed it a couple weeks ago. Anyway Go Blue!

The latter point is…

The latter point is irrelevant. Violating the T&C of a ticket is not the same as violating an NCAA/B1G rule. That might be enough to get the person recording kicked or banned from the stadium (assuming it's actually considered commercial use, which is debatable), but that's all.

I don't think he should have…

I don't think he should have yelled at Eddie Munster.

Would have to see another…

Would have to see another angle but honestly I guess I can see what they meant. The guy in the middle of the wedge pushes the PSU player as he's diving so maybe he wouldn't have made contact otherwise. Still, diving through the wedge is reckless enough that it should have been called anyway.

I think it would be even…

I think it would be even sweeter to make Petitti hand the trophy to Harbaugh. Will be fun to watch.

Hey, don't misgender Ryan…

Hey, don't misgender Ryan Day like that. Just because he's soft doesn't make him a mistress.

I believe it's Tony Petite-D

I believe it's Tony Petite-D

The press release by the big…

The press release by the big ten says the head coach can't be in the venue on game day. That being said it never names Jim Harbaugh, it just says "Head Football Coach." Time to promote the equipment manager to a temporary position?

Why is fuckin Thamel…

Why is fuckin Thamel breaking this story? Did they tell Day before Harbaugh? And Thamel heard it while Day was on the phone smoking in bed? "Who was that, honey?"

Their OL promised to hold…

Their OL promised to hold him until they died, til they died

He does seem like a…

He does seem like a sociopath/psychopath but I have no expertise on the matter. I agree with you though that there is something there that people are blowing past. It would have been way better to keep his name out of the spotlight but that cat's out of the bag and he'll never meet an MSU fan again who doesn't say some stupid shit.

Love that article. Pretzel…

Love that article. Pretzel me, Wetzel. I mean hold me. Yeah that's what I meant...

Rule #1 is invariably "Fuck…

Rule #1 is invariably "Fuck Michigan." This is the case for the NCAA, the Big Ten, reddit's CFB subreddit, and apparently ESPN.

That's a lot better than the standard class action where you get something like $10 each (commercial litigation atty btw)

What about Deiontology?

What about Deiontology?

And also alleged that this…

And also alleged that this is the biggest cheating scandal in college football. Someone's been reading too much Thamel.

That dude is going professional in something other than sports for sure, call Hollywood now

Seriously? Boxing out…

Seriously? Boxing out textbook is a dumb mistake?

Second time I've heard you…

Second time I've heard you guys use Snail Mail for one of these and i fucking love it (edit: the music not that they did the podcast like correspondence chess lmao)

Fuck yes Snail Mail. Whoever…

Fuck yes Snail Mail. Whoever picked that song for that intermission, bravo

That would certainly make…

That would certainly make Izzo look much more like a small child who should be put in time-out

Yeah but they're wearing…

Yeah but they're wearing helmets and cages; that guy probably barely felt a thing. Meanwhile their guy legitimately endangered our player and got an offsetting minor penalty (because ref logic).

I'm not old enough to say hockey wasn't always like this, but since I've been watching college hockey (around 15 years or so) I've seen players consistently retaliating for any big hit, legal or not. If your teammate sets himself up to get plastered and does, keep playing the fucking game.

And if you then go after the guy with a dirty hit after the puck is long gone, you should get at least a major penalty. We shouldn't have to stop play every time someone makes a legal bodycheck. Refs instead give matching minors and nothing is accomplished.

I bet that's his high school…

I bet that's his high school helmet.

Don Bosco is in NJ. The CA…

Don Bosco is in NJ. The CA school is St. John Bosco (although the namesake is the same guy apparently).

This kind of senseless…

This kind of senseless pedantry is corrupting the youth. Descriptivism is the one true way to enlightenment.

I'm actually shocked given the Fumble-palooza that was the start of the season. Getting back to even after that aberration means we actually did pretty well.

Albums:

Norman Fucking…

I've been obsessively listening to indie music on Spotify lately, having discovered some really great playlists that have introduced me to artists I'd never hear about otherwise (at least since I broke up with my college girlfriend who knew every obscure band that ever formed). So I have some effing recs here but warning that it's almost all indie rock (shrug).

Another warning: if you think you feel old looking at a list like this then don't look up how old some of these people are. I swear soon literal infants are going to be pumping out amazing indie music. At least 3 of the albums below are from kids around ages 18-20.

Albums:

Norman Fucking Rockwell! by Lana Del Rey

Violet Street by Local Natives

Invocations/Conversations by JR JR (Detroit's own!)

Heard It In a Past Life by Maggie Rogers

Better Oblivion Community Center (self-titled)

Space Cadet by Beabadoobee (ty spotify recommendations)

Immunity by Clairo (ditto)

i,i by Bon Iver

On the Line by Jenny Lewis

Father of the Bride by Vampire Weekend

EDIT: Forever Turned Around by Whitney

Fuzzybrain by Dayglow (especially the song Can I Call You Tonight?)

Songs:

Essentially by Japanese Breakfast (look up JBrekkie pls she's so goddamn good)

It Might Be Time by Tame Impala

For the First Time by Best Coast

Are You Bored Yet? by Wallows feat. Clairo (I think the whole album is good but only have listened once so I didn't put it up there)

Some others I'll have to look and update this if anyone is interested in this type of music.

Agreed. I thought last year…

Agreed. I thought last year it might happen since the UFR got a sponsor. It would definitely help and would allow for full-season UFR stats. I think he might actually do it this year TBH; he was much less optimistic about our chances so maybe it doesn't hurt as much (it does)

Probably because each other…

Probably because each other by itself could be plausibly denied as a judgment call. But added together and contrasted with the calls against us, it was a complete travesty. Also we STILL would've won if Samuel didn't slam into his own guy on that 3rd down, allowing him to immediately change direction and our guys broke contain not expecting it. Fuck JT being short (he was), that play was so lucky it hurts.

Exactly this, and fuck the…

Exactly this, and fuck the tv networks. My hypothesis is that Thanksgiving fucks us (idk when the Game started being this weekend, fwiw). Many UM students come from around the country and world, and can't come back so soon from Thanksgiving whereas most OSU students and fans are from somewhere in or near the hellhole of Ohio. Even some of my friends from the state of MI couldn't convince their parents to let them come back in time. Plus Ann Arbor is closer to any part of Ohio than Columbus is to most of Michigan. Add all that up plus the states of the programs and you get a sea of red (not to mention that red is easier to see against the bunch of maize, blue, and gray that our fans wear).

Fuck Ohio, fuck it being the last week, fuck tradition, fuck the B1G re-scheduling fucking the MSU/OSU home/away balance, fuck everything that contributes to our disadvantage.

I mean this is the coaches'…

I mean this is the coaches' poll so it's basically toilet paper but yeah I assume the top 4 will be the same

It gets harder and harder to…

It gets harder and harder to not violate the "no politics" rule these days especially when it seems like the vote counts show that we have a more conservative readership here than my personal views. Which is fine, to be clear. Because being a conservative is not necessarily being supportive of the current state of things.

Hint: he's not the OP. And…

[Edit: oops I read the wrong username, turns out he is the OP so ignore if you already read that part of my comment]. You made it about politics.

Now you've made the…

Now you've made the political discussion explicit, rather than the humorous reference in the OP (not condoning the sentence in the OP). You did the very thing you called out because you have the exact same (well, mirror image I guess) bias: you think it's okay when it's your side and you're just joking sarcastically about the other side being obviously a bunch of idiots or some conspiracy or whatever-the-fuck.

The point is the rule is NO politics, not "NO politics except my snide little comment right after calling out someone who disagrees with me for insulting my politics"

I got kicked out of the…

I got kicked out of the bball national championship game because the old couple in front of us, KU fans, got offended at our language. We didn't tone it down because we were pissed (in multiple ways) and it was late in the game, and because these people seriously took offense to every single "curse" word including "damn it" and "penis" (to be clear I said much worse).

The old man went to get an usher, came back, and angrily said "TELL HER WHAT YOU SAID!" thinking I would be ashamed of it. I opened my mouth happily about to oblige when she said "it's fine, I don't need to know, just come with me."

If you are reading closely you'll see that I said this old couple was a pair of KANSAS fans. They got two Michigan fans kicked out of the National fucking Championship game in which Michigan was playing and their own team was not. We had a good laugh about it given the situation. Then we drank heavily and lost a bunch of money playing poker while heavily inebriated, as one does.

Now that he mentioned it I…

Now that he mentioned it I kind of agree upon re-reading the OP. Hint: yesterday was also election day.

You forgot a section, I…

You forgot a section, I think. Where's my cursory bitching about the refs?

As someone who went to law…

As someone who went to law school, that sounds very very difficult and unadvisable. Very few things are as important as starting off on the right foot your first semester and the usual advice is don't even plan to have a part-time job and plan to lose your significant other. Serious stuff. I'd advise someone to do a different type of grad school for your grad-year football eligibility and wait on law school---honestly waiting on law school is something 50%+ of law students should have done.

But the question still stands: how the heck is he planning to transfer and have eligibility? Did he graduate undergrad in 3 and still has 2 of eligibility? Is he planning to drop out and do something else? Honestly it's very hard to transfer law schools except the window between years 1 and 2, and that's if you kill it during 1L. Good luck to him regardless.

The issue with looking at…

The issue with looking at QBR alone is that it only accounts for passing attempts and whether or not they were successful. Several of Shea's issues wouldn't be reflected in his passer rating. E.g.: when Shea throws a short completion when he has someone else wide open downfield, that's a positive event to his QBR; when he takes a bad sack or scrambles when he doesn't need to, his QBR is unaffected because those are considered running plays; most importantly, his inexplicable inability to keep/run the ball has a huge effect on the function of the offense, as does his ability to get the ball out on time or to open guys (plus the hampering of the offense if we have to dumb it down and go half-field reads), and those things don't show up in the QBR.

Shea is a decently accurate thrower; he's just not seeing the field for some reason.
