| 1 day 1 hour ago | Baseball Draft Rules |
You are correct in having such a young team bodes well for the future, but the baseball draft rules are a little different than other sports. IIRC, if a player chooses to enter college, he cannot re-enter the draft until after his junior year. Even if he gets drafted then, he still has the opportunity to return to school and be drafted again after his senior season (If anyone can confirm, please do so). The point being, you generally do not see many Senior studs in baseball as they would have been drafted in the early rounds after their Junior year. So while it bodes well that we have many Freshman and Sophomores for a few years, I believe "younger" teams are not as uncommon as it would seem. |

I didn't see it in this clip, but there are some pictures ciculating the internet showing him bleeding from his ear as he lies on the turf. The terrifying thing is realizing the force of the hit as the ball bounced all the way down the right field line for a triple. |

I was ecstatic when GM Thompson was able to get Lacy with the 61st(!) pick. With Rodgers running the offense, we don't need to ask our RB to win games for us, but having a threat like Lacy will prevent teams from dropping 7 into coverage every play. Throw in extending Rodger's contract yesterday and life is good in green and gold nation. |

Isn't #4 exactly what GA is? Rewarding people with choice of seats for getting there first (i.e getting their tickets scanne) |

I'd have no problem vouching these girls were sitting with me the whole time. |
| 4 weeks 2 days ago | The Points Don't Matter +1 |
This is the point which hasn't been brought up as every Junior/Senior seems to believe they will be given seats in rows A,B,C, etc. I only missed one game my 4 years at Michigan, senior year to take the EIT Exam. Yet I was still stuck in the 30th row my senior year watching people show up late and stake claim to their seats in the rows below. A part of me feels that if some seniors would've received their tickets in July and been stuck in rows 20-40 they would be all for GA to have a shot at getting front row. |
| 4 weeks 3 days ago | Ditto |
I feel your pain. My Junior year tickets were in that general range too. Basically kept the same seating group for my soph-senior years. We always had a solid 6-8 there when the band came out with 1-2 showing up before kickoff after showing friends/family around, etc. All with pretty standard numbers of credits yet we couldn't crack the first few rows for whatever reason. Hopefully with this new system you can get yourself some better seats. |
| 4 weeks 3 days ago | At Wisconsin (Sister and |
At Wisconsin (Sister and friend's went there) you present your GA ticket at the turnstile, then go to whichever section you'd like to sit in. For Michigan Stadium this would mean students have the option of going to sections 26-34(ish?). Then when you enter that section an usher gives out a ticket for your specific seat, progressing from bottom to top. This way there is still some order in the event of contested seats and students still can have some say in the angle they watch. Personally, I'm glad this happened. For all you expecting awesome seats as seniors, there is no guarantee with the old system, especially if you created a group. Had a group of about 8 friends, all seniors, still got tickets in row 28. You were completely at the mercy of some ticket algorithm. This way you at least have some say in your seating location. |

It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with Kramer and the child in the hospital. Seriously though, job well done by the Reds and what an experience for Frazier being able to completely make someone's day. |

Just incredible how our backup, unheralded, PG can come in and steal the show for the first half of the NC My favorite was Spike's fake handoff-crossover drive for a layup, starting at 1:10. That was something I thought only Trey and a select other players in college could do. For clarification I'm removing The Trey from consideration because, well... |

It seemed to me as if the original complaint was about Adidas benefiting off someone's injury, not that they're benefiting off an athlete. |

IIRC didn't we make Brock Mealer shirts (1%) following him leading the team on the field in 2010? Not a player, but same theory supporting an injured individual. |
| 8 weeks 2 days ago | I would always prefer grass, |
I would always prefer grass, but given the climate of Michigan turf is almost necessary. I don't know what the complaints are about bad hops, we practiced in Oosterbaan all winter and you get spoiled because every hop is so true and you rarely lose your footing. Hopefully this will open the field to more teams as well. I know the Club Team basically begs the Athletic Department to have tryouts or even one game at Fisher and the excuse always was they didn't want to overuse the field. Which seemed like a bunch of bull when they would have dozens of high school tournaments in the summer. |
| 13 weeks 1 day ago | Bad Shooting |
Watching a lot of games recently, I can't help but think the lack of players capable of hitting the midrange (10-17 feet) jumper with consistency contributes to the lack of scoring too. I understand the risk-reward benefit of backing up behind the 3 point line with the similar likelihood of success, but it seems defenses gain more by only needing to guard outside the arc or at the hoop. Without having a threat from the elbow/short corner the defense can clog the lane and make drives more difficult. Not to mention being in better position to take charges, which was discussed in a thread last week. But without being able to spread the defense across the entire floor inside the arc, offenses are having a more difficult time finding open shots. |

Watford gets a T on a review for an elbow during a play but Nix gets away with a blatant dong punch while standing around. What has home court advantage come to in the Big Ten? I think Dantonio found a new lineman though. |
| 13 weeks 5 days ago | ^This |
Sugar Bowl was definitely my favorite Michigan "event" As far as strictly games, probably UTL or comeback vs Wisconsin in 2008 since I'm from Wisky and was getting crap at halftime from all my friends back home. Some pretty great memories representing M for the Club Baseball team too. |
| 14 weeks 22 hours ago | I didn't find Dakich very |
I didn't find Dakich very useful at all as a broadcaster. IIRC he had MSU at #5 in his B1G Rankings during the Wisconsin game (and OSU #1, not IU). Then he is moaning about how UW didn't foul in a tie game and let Hardaway take a high degree of difficulty 3, which probably only goes in 25% of the time anyway, maybe less on the road. Not to mention he was babbling about how our bigs couldn't match up against Berggren, when halfway through the first half he only had 3 points. Luckily I couldn't hear most of the Game That Never Happened due to the bar noise and just being numb. |
| 14 weeks 2 days ago | Similarly, |
I'm getting tired of the "Haven't faced an environment like this" cliche. Does that mean playing at the Schott, Assembly, and Kohl, along with being #1 for two games and having that bullseye on your back, couldn't help prepare us for Breslin? As for silver linings: We get to watch the best player in the country. Even the Sparty fans I was watching with were giving Trey his due. Unfortunately I think he got a little frustrated with how the game was going and it resulted in foul trouble like the charge off the inbound. |
| 14 weeks 2 days ago | Avoid 4/5 matchup |
Looking ahead to the B1G Tournament, it is VERY important to get one of the top 3 seeds. There will be a 4/5 matchup in the quarterfinals(!) between two of the above mentioned teams. Its going to very hard for anybody to win 3 games in 3 days against the competition above so you want one of the bottom 7 teams on Thursday(Friday?). And not even making the B1G semis is probably a surefire way to drop a seed or two given the other 4 teams that will advance. |
| 14 weeks 3 days ago | Having the stats right in |
Having the stats right in front of me, two matchups stick out: Timmy vs Dawson and GRII vs Payne/Nix. This could be a tough matchup for Timmy beause Dawson will be stronger and appears to be completely recovered and confident in his quickness following his knee injury last year. GRIII will be more athletic and quicker than the Payne/Nix matchup he ends up with. However, as we know, he hasn't shown much in the way of creating his own offense and opportunities for rebounds may be limited going against a bigger natural post like Payne and Nix. I think we have a huge advantage with Trey. Hopefully we wipes the floor with Appling like he did last season. That being said, I think we need to win one of the above matchups and at least have a push on the other to win tomorrow night. Certainly doable, but going to need to show some moxie and killer instinct that we've lacked in our losses this year. |

I'm amazed that changing a team name to the Pelicans has now been bumped to the SECOND stupidest front office move this year. |

Agreed, Levert's line: I can see what Brian/Ace says about this kid being really good in the future, but he's still a half step behind the college game. |
| 14 weeks 6 days ago | I really don't have a problem |
I really don't have a problem with it in this instance. Playing Top 5 team, buzzer beater to force OT, they were unranked. We all know Wisconsin has a good program, but they still weren't getting respect this year, even after beating Indiana in Bloomington. I think this win, and the way they got it, will finally vault them back into getting the respect they feel they deserve. Also, this was a better win than us vs UCONN in 2010(?) |
| 15 weeks 2 days ago | Split our toughest matchup |
Around halftime of the game, a thought occurred to me that Ohio is the worst team we match up with against all year. They are the only team who have multiple guards who can defend our backcourt and Thomas matches up against GRIII, who is still a freshman and we really can't sub for him. You could obviously make a case for Indiana too, but I feel that is more about their superb talent than individual matchups. Bottom line, I'm glad we made it through the season series with a split and hope we don't see them in the postseason as Craft is the only person I am confident can slow down Trey. |
| 15 weeks 2 days ago | Consistency |
The play was a no call based on the previous Craft foul on GRIII. The refs (correctly) decided not to call a flagrant and instead let the players determine the outcome of the game. After not calling what could have been a flagrant by Craft for contact above the shoulders, they had to be consistent and let Timmy have an opportunity to make his defensive play. |

| 16 weeks 3 days ago | I agree that Morgan seems to |
I agree that Morgan seems to be underappreciated (by myself as well) as the last line of defense. While the list merely addresses defense stats, when watching games I feel that McGary collects a large amount of rebounds Morgan does not. Compund that with the amount of times J-mo seems to get stuck on the block without making a post move, bringing the offense to a crawl, and you can see why the debate is at least logical. |

Agreed, that's why I love him as a 6th man this year. I feel him a Caris are just a half step away in adjusting to the college game. When they do, be it the end of this year or next, watch out. |
