Finebaum rips Harbaugh

I especially like the part when he says Harbaugh never beat Saban or Freeze for a recruit.  I guess Gary's offers weren't commitable.

[Ed-S: Consolidated this with thread by 1VaBlue1. Here's what he said]:

Angelique captured both Finnebaum's radio show and Hugh Freeze's call-in to the Mike & Mike radio show.  Most, if not all, of Finnebaum's comments came at the end of his show - designed to ellicit a response he doesn't have to acknowledge until he gets a chance to review them.  The coward ass cowardly bitch...

His satellite tour (last summer) was groundbreaking, but it also was about Jim Harbaugh. It was about promoting the brand of Michigan football, but mostly, ‘Look at me, I’m Jim Harbaugh. I’m taking my shirt off. I can come into Nick Saban’s backyard.’ But not once did he ever beat Saban for a player, did he ever beat Huge Freeze for a player or (Tennessee coach) Butch Jones, but that hasn’t stopped him from taking cheap, uncessesary shots.

What cheap, unnecessary shots were taken by Harbaugh?  He hit hard when provoked - to defend his program, but otherwise said nothing.  Finnebaum is a tool to begin with, and the lead SEC apologist to boot.

Angie has other quotes, also, including some gems from Freeze, and some good points from Mike Riley against the ban.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when we're beholden to being a hardline conference shill.

I'm aware that not all offers are "committable" nowadays per se, but according to 247 in 2016 alone, Michigan listed 11 players with an Alabama offer. Is Finebaum trying to claim that all of these players were entirely unwanted by Saban, many coming directly from the SEC footprint or being very high four star types and in one case, a five star? Kareem Walker? Devin Bush, Jr.? Ben Bredeson? Devin Asiasi? Michael Onwenu? Ron Johnson? Nick Eubanks? Eddie McDoom? Elysee Mbem-Bosse? Joshua Uche? RASHAN GARY? And that's just Alabama! Ole Miss doesn't nearly have the cache that Alabama does, though they do offer a similar type of cash, and such a list would be even longer.

In particular, I remember Eubanks going down to the wire near signing day, and anybody that tries to claim that Gary couldn't have gone to any college in the country with a football team is out of their minds. I can relate to Finebaum in the sense that I feel about Michigan how he feels about the entire SEC, and recognize that his livelihood comes from pandering to the SEC's fanbase, but once we start losing perspective of facts, especially with Finebaum being somebody who covers sports for a living, it starts to became shameful, disingenuous, and embarrassing.

player."

But let's just hold Finebaum to his lie:

If "not once did he ever beat Saban for a player," then what the hell are Finebaum, the SEC, and the NCAA worried about?  If Finebaum is correct, then this is an argument that satellite camps must return:  That satellite camps help recruits gain exposure, but do not result in Michigan getting a glut of southern talent.  If Finebaum is correct, then he is making an argument for Harbaugh and for satellite camps.

These media types are not only immoral but also ignorant:  They lie in hopes of bolstering an argument, not realizing that by so lying they destroy their argument.

Finebaum has a few very valid points. Satellite camps had been going on for years, wilh almost no push back for anyone. None. Harbaugh wasn't the first big time coach to do camps. But rather than do them on a low key, respect thy neighbor fashion, he just had to do all he could to bring attention to Himself, and UM, but mostly to himself.
It's because of this abrasive, ego driven, down right disrespectful attitude that suddenly people that never complained before started making noise. People much more respected and powerful than crazy Jim.
We can all see how it has ended, and Harbaugh has no one to blame but himself. If he would have approached this whole thing with just a little bit of class and respect for others we would not be where we are today. This is a fact.
I realize this is a hard pill for many to swallow, and some will never agree. But when you look at what took place it's very clear that crazy Jim, and now every high school program and mid major is being punished for Harbaughs low class, selfish childlike attitude towards everybody he meets. The reason so many Conferences voted this in, despite it affecting them negatively, is because their disgust for Harbaugh was greater than their concern for everyone else. That says a lot.

That Finebaum is right about your boy, he is a self promoting asshat that ruined camps for everyone. If he could have managed to show some class and respect for others then everyone would still be able to do them. But crazy Jim has no class or respect for anyone but himself. This is evidenced by His behavior with these camps, his cheap shots at other coaches on Twitter, his antics like climbing trees, sleepovers, etc.., his willingness to dump committed recruits only days before NSD, and most of all his inability to even compete with a team like Bama, and OSU. Just look at how he acted in his postgame after OSU ass raped him. He was a pouting little bitch. Just like he is now over the camps. Time to face the facts, your boy is pussified little sissy.

How was he acting selfish? He's trying to win football games, and our team before he got here was was pretty embarrassing on the field. He's trying to build the best team and restore some pride in this school again. Seemed to me like everything he did was for the benefit of the school and the team.

Harbaugh from day 1 has been nothing more than a self promoting asshole. Their isn't another coach that has taken more cheap shots at other coaches on Twitter. No other coach has done more to bring attention to himself i.e. Sleepovers, climbing trees, going shirtless, hiring family members, doing camps in other teams back yards, and maybe the worst is acting like a crybaby asshole towards the media after a loss. Harbaugh has poked just about everybody he meets in the eye, so much so that his only defenders can be found in Ann Arbor. It's only a matter of some more loses and that will change too, just like it did with Hoke. Michigan had for many years maintained a respectable program, but they have become so desperate for wins that it's evident they will be willing to forfeit all their respect just to try and compete with OSU and MSU, which hast work thus far.

Please tell me where it states that you are not able to have a camp in another state without it being disrespectful? What are the boundaries that each college has and who decided them? Is it just P5 schools that have a "designated area" or every college program? I'll help you out since you are not very good at facts.....you will not find any of those answers because they don't exist so stop making yourself look uneducated and ignorant. Recruiting is a dirty business that is all about getting an edge. He found one and the SEC got butt hurt. End of story.

If you asked anyone, anywhere outside the state of Michigan who the biggest asshole in FBS coaching is, Harbaugh would win...hands down. He would beat out Bert by a country mile.

I love it how he thinks Hugh Freeze has to be a big time college coach and make almost $100K a week.  If he wants to spend time with his family he can coach high school, run 2 hour practices, and never go on the road to recruit.  If you take the responsibility and the salary then yes, you should make some sacrifices in other areas of your life.  No one would even force him to hold satellite camps anyway.

This egghead dipshit's words should mean nothing to anyone outside the south.

He receives a paycheck from ESPN/SEC network. That's all you need to know.

I also enjoy how he lauds Freeze for going to Haiti to do volunteer work while Harbaugh was in Florida, as if to imply Harbaugh doesn't care about underprivileged people.  So not only did he forget about Gary picking M over 'Bama/Ole Miss, Finebaum also doesn't realize that Harbaugh has an annual trip to Peru where he does volunteer work of his own.  It is apparent that he was very lazy in his research for this piece.

Finebaum was one of the urban high school coaches contacted by Freeze. I found it interesting that while Harbaugh is holding camps in rural areas of the south, Freeze polls urban HS coaches who state that they have enough camps and don't need any more. Again he takes the easy way out.
