Michigan will take on South Dakota State at 7:15 pm EST on Thursday, March 21. The VCU-Akron game will follow ours.

the Tennessee game a few years back. I was in biology class and trying to watch it using the CBS app on my phone, and my teacher caught me using it. He asked me what I was doing, and I said I was watching a NCAA Tournament game. He asked who was playing, and when I said Michigan he smiled and said "Keep watching and give me updates. I bet you didn't know I went to Michigan did you?" Needless to say, we were both pumped about the 30 point win!

we would play 2 games and winning them would get us to the sweet 16
Thank you, and lazy question number 2, are there any time schedules available for the 3rd round and beyond yet? Hoping for another late(er) game on Saturday.
Edit: I should prob knock on wood with the way this team has been playing.

I was doing my graduate work, but we were on spring break that week. Maybe my spring break in grad school was a little early or a little late, because I remember skipping classes to watch the first round of the tournament when I was an undergrad and all the guys watching it together. Of course I took 8 years between undergrad and grad school, so my memory may be wrong, lol.
Still, the Stu Douglas dunk is probably my favorite memory of Michigan Basketball in the last decade. That moment, was when I felt we were finally back.
He could have meant high school biology class, too.

Didn't even think of that.
What do you say when you're not being sarcastic and a total douche by saying "cool story, bro?" Whatever that meme is, that's what I'd like to say here.
That's pretty damn awesome, it's why I love this country...even our teachers have priorities in order.
Damn...and what a great game too!

I'm on Pacific Time, so unfortunately it is during my work time. Anyone know if you can watch these games afterwards on replay like you can on BTN2go or WatchEspn? I don't have a DVR (or VCR), and I was unable to find any info on the NCAA/CBS website. Really don't want to miss any of the game.

Don't have cable, so upgrading to dvr isn't an option. Finding a vcr just for this isn't ideal either. I suppose I can wait for it to show up on mgovideo (maybe late that night?), but would much prefer a more convenient option. If BTN and ESPN have their games available on replay, shouldn't the NCAA/Turner be able to offer the same sorta thing, especially considering lots of people will be at work during their games?

Thanks for the Tivo idea. Didn't realize it could work without cable. I just checked Portland craigslist though, and they're all at least $60. Not worth it to use a couple times a year.
I have a TV and antenna, though I literally only use it for a few sports games a year. I really hope that the CBS/NCAA app will have replays available like BTN and ESPN. I'm new in town and don't have many friends here, but may be able to borrow a vcr from someone. Still would much prefer a more convenient option. I'll try to e-mail CBS about the replay thing.
Really hope so too. It's commonplace on BTN and ESPN, so you'd think it wouldn't be that difficult. Just not sure why they wouldn't mention anything on the web page. Sent a "feedback" e-mail through the March Madness website but not sure where that goes. Will update if I hear back.
Check things like Ebay and other websites with used items. You'll have shipping costs, but maybe you can bid one cheap and cover them. It won't help you now because though you can get them for cheaper than $60 to get it to you by Thursday would make the shipping costs prohibitive. But if you can find one you get for really cheap (they had buy it now for $30, with $15 shipping, so if you can bid for one, cheaper than that for sure), you might solve any future problems for an economical amount.

Hopefully round 2 will also be late, for hockey reasons.

You mean round 3

Where did you find this out? I am interested in other start times.

Great info. Thx. I'm on the road all week, so I'm happy to get this info now so I can carefully plan my Thursday watching options. The prime time slot really helps.

The games are staggered, there won't be many if any Spartans in there for our night cap. Would you seriously buy tickets just to boo your rival?
March 17th, 2013 at 11:37 PM ^
You have to ask?
Those on a budget might have to skip their own game.
he's talking about Saturday and not Thursday. We will play the second game so, if Sparty wins the first game as expected, you can bet your ass that most of the fans will stick around specifically to cheer against Michigan.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:39 PM ^
I doubt they'll stick around just to heckle Michigan...then again, who knows...
March 18th, 2013 at 12:00 AM ^
I don't see why MSU would root for Michigan to lose. Personally, I'm rooting for both teams in the tourney. There's no reason not to root for B1G teams
March 18th, 2013 at 12:16 AM ^
Except Wisconsin. Fuck Wisconsin.
....you don't let an irrational hatred dictate the choices you make.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:39 PM ^
Being in the same region is actually even BETTER for Michigan. The ticket packages are only good for one of the regions. Michigan State fans aren't going to buy both sets of packages, so they'll stick to cheering for their own team.

Sparty at noon, so hopefully their fans won't stick around 5 hours to troll us.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:48 PM ^
there just to hang around with their MooU friends.
March 17th, 2013 at 11:44 PM ^
Tickets are only good for certain sessions unless you buy a weekend pass I believe. Meaning that ushers will come around and kick people out at certain times. Odds are very few MSU fans will be around when Michigan plays and vice versa

And yay Raftery, even if it means we get Uncle Verne too.

Verne does not know what's going on anymore. 5 years ago, they were my favorite team, but he can't do the job at this point. Raftery is the best though.

ONIONS!!!
March 17th, 2013 at 11:04 PM ^
I long for Gus/Raftery. Though McDonough/Raftery/Bilas is pretty good.
What the heck is that little squeal that Raferty does at the beginning of the game that sounds like Beaker from the Muppet Show?
He's saying "They're going man-to-man!" He really likes man-to-man defense. Not sure what he does if a team starts out in zone.

The tickets come in two sessions on Thursday. I would guess there are a decent amount of MSU fans who will sell their evening sessions and UM fans who will sell their afternoon sessions. Going from 12:15 to literally close to midnight is a long day. People may try to get some of their money back when their team isn't playing. Saturday would be interesting with UM and MSU theoretically playing back to back.

It's probably much better for me that it is on at 7:15 PM on Thursday, although I was not above scheduling this game as a "meeting" with our office administrator and booking our conference room (with its 60-inch TV) if needed.
