since we know that Michigan …

since we know that Michigan - ECU was Peacock's highest CFB game ever and that last week's ND-Navy game hit 251k viewers as the highest non-Peacock exclusive game, it's probably fair to assume that it's somewhere in the 300k-400k range

For reference, last year's Hawaii - Michigan on BTN was about 1M viewers (although the timeslot was split with Idaho-Indiana), so probably about a 50% drop overall.

One minor correction - it…

One minor correction - it was billed as "Japan All-Star" lineup and actually featured 6 current college players in an admittedly X-league dominant lineup.

You can see the roster here - some familiar names for CFB fans

I subscribed to the Athletic…

I subscribed to the Athletic for a few years until I realized that I was basically paying money to have The Athletic writers shit on Michigan.

Deserved or not, I don't need that negativity in my life.

I wonder if Harbaugh is…

I wonder if Harbaugh is thinking that the analysts he hires can basically be mentors for these guys - I believe they're not allowed to meet students but have infinite time for coaches.

Ohio is not the football…

Ohio is not the football factory that it once was - overall FB participation in kids is -27% from just a decade ago.  This is generally concerning about the talent pool that the Big Ten can pull from, but I subsequent decline in focus from Michigan makes sense with this in context

Isn't Peters also trying to…

Isn't Peters also trying to preserve a red-shirt so that he can keep an extra year of eligibility before he transfers out?

I'm not sure how many games he's played in so far though.

That's more of a Shea…

That's more of a Shea problem than the play calling.  He missed some really open receivers deep and kept checking down

I still think this is a…

I still think this is a better team than last year even based on the painful play on the field at times.

Still going with a 9-3.

Both PSU and MSU have struggled as well so my predictions for those hasn't really changed.  Don't see how we hang with OSU though.

I'm assuming for undergrad?

If I'm comparing Ross vs Chicago I would say that it's about a push - although if your son is more interested on the academic of business he might be a better fit at Chicago.  I would be strongly tempted if it was U. Mich LSA vs Chicago though.

If you have a fast internet connection...

try cutting the cord with either PS Vue or Youtube TV - both offer BTN

Is it just me or is Simpson's FT shooting abnormally bad?

My understanding is that the NCAA average is around the 67-70% mark and Simpson is right around 51%

Incorrect time for the recruiting section: Should be 1:07:35

I initially went 107 minutes in and was confused why the recruiting section seemed to be wrapping up.

What's the competition level of the games they won this year?

Record wise they're on track to be have their best season since turing D1 but I don't follow the sport enough to know if that's more due to scheduling or if the program is actually getting better.

I honestly don't think...

Speight has the ability to make these throws.  Michigan's play calling is predicated on what the QB can throw accurately.

Just so you know, Orange Bowl tix started around $110 face...

Stubhub prices aren't bad, although they have fees on top that jack it up

It's a semi-pro league

Basically - a mixture of company teams (where all players are employees who do a mixture of regular work and playing on team) and those who train after their 9-5 is over.

NJ People (and people in the East Coast in general)...

Aspire to attend Ivy league private schools.

I can't recall any starter who was ever in the MBA program

..at least, ever since the 2000s or so.

There have been some undergrad rossers w qualified based on academic merit (e.g. Zoltan) but they were all special teamers

Nope - not for a top 15 program

What you describe is more readily available for 2nd tier MBA programs (and a handful of folks in enrolled in a special program at HBS/Stanford)

Not sure why that player went for home...

had no chance.

It's you -

Something you did is put you into the bucket that would be interested in stuff like that.  Probably an adult site or a dating/romance one.

I still can't get over his first name

Netori essentially translates to woman/wife stealer in Japanese.

I'll be there

Haven't seen a live game in a 3 years!

IIRC UCLA Anderson has a similar age profile to Ross

If a MBA program is a hard requirement he might have go down a tier lower in term of Academic - probably outside of the top 20 schools or so.

Either way...

This class looks potentially to be the best class since 2013 overall and even longer if we control for class size.

I think there's been a lot of hinting that the Game....

will likely be an afternoon game.  The only thing that's completely off the table is a night game.

The key thing to do is to make sure you live a walking distance.

Everything else will pretty much work itself out.  Enjoy your 2 years there!

Since this is a double elimination...

I guess that means that if Michigan loses there's a game two somewhere?  Maryland already lost a game IIRC.

need to win the tourney

So, Brian...

"This is why I don't report on potential transfers anymore. I would rather not spend a week with my head in an alligator's mouth, thanks."

Valdez Showers to Michigan confirmed?

I spent way too much timing figuring out the difference...

but it looks like there's actually a big stylistic difference so I don't think its accurate to say it's "lower" per se.

UCA = old school 'classic' style cheerleading with a "Gameday" component

NCA = more 'allstar' dance style cheereading w/ more acrobatics for both guys and gals

Here's  a good example

UofM's 2013 Routine (NCA)

OSU's 215 Routine (UCA)

It does seem correct that average competition level is higher for UCA though.

I suspect...

...that we'll actually land a deal with Under Armor and not Nike.  The only signal from the AD is that we may drop Adidas once the deal expires...I don't think there's been anything to suggest that the replacement will be Nike though.

I think the answer differs based on what you want...

Do you want go into entrepreneurship immediately? PE/VC? Join a startup...or go into a large company in an exec role?

A ranking of possible roles you want would help in giving advice.

The distinction is more from a company hire standpoint

I can totally believe that there are certain EMBA programs that offer more extensive career services but 80-90% of companies that are looking to make MBA hires have a very specific hiring cycle that only students from the fulltime programs can take advantage of.

These can be in company sponsored happy hours, specfic recruiting events and pitches organized by various Fortune 500 companies, etc.  Many of these will be either off limits to EMBA students or sheduled in such a way EMBA students will have a hard time attending.

What you WILL get is career counseling and the opportunity to network with other EMBA students who may soon be in a situation to make hiring reccomendations.  Those will be the primary levers you will be using if you are thinking about a potential career change afterwards.

A complete functional change is highly unlikely though (e.g. if you are in Supply Chain right now, don't expect to be able to switch to a Marketing role post EMBA).

Ultimately, I think the EMBA is the right answer if you are

A) Generally happy with your current company but think a MBA will get you a leg up on promotions

B)Interested in networking with a broader set of professionals

C)Learning more about business related topics

As long as you understand that the different MBA programs...

offer different things to the students it's fine.

The EMBA is more designed for companies who want to grow their internal talent (and keep employee retention) by offering a program where they would be put on an promotion track sooner or later.

It's not really meant for career switching if that is your end goal and those resources will not be made readily available to you like it is for the full time students.

EMBA programs are designed to be company sponsored...

I wouldn't pay out of pocket for them to tell you the truth.  If you're looking to spend your own money I would go for a regular full time program instead.

You're obviously not familar with what the "Bay Area" means...

unless you're also arguing that Silicon Valley is not in the bay area.

I think you need more time to prep...

No offense, but you're applying way too late in the cycle to have a realistic shot at any program worth the money.

I think you should spend the spring/summer researching schools, thinking about what you want to do after you gradaute, and focus on getting your GMATs to the 700 mark and applying round 1 for next year's cycle.

Wouldn't surprise me if we lose this one...

...the only thing that gives me pause about next year's team is the amount of coaching churn they have.

Supposedly a transfer player...

Taylor McNamara from OU, 2012 4* TE.

I guess he'll have to sit out a year?

Despite how bad we looked...

I actually felt like this was less of a tire fire than any other game we played this season since...Miami?

Am I the only one one who felt this way?

It's done in APR order

It's also primarily the reason why Northwestern will probably go bowling at 5-7.  I think they are #2 on the APR list.

He's hobbled and can't run

and getting him injured will be even worse

The strong vs average differenciation ....

is pretty touchy feely.  For example, Charlie Strong was at Louisville before Texas.  That sounds pretty average to me.  I would prefer to see the data broken out by salary or some other metric that's more quantifable.

Also, since generally blue chip programs are the ones making big name hires, the increased performance might be attributable to the programs themselves, not the hires.

That's not correct

the SUNY system doesn't have a designated flagship - there's 4 "university centers" with technically equal footing but with various states of funding.

If you look at the enrollment stats you see that Buffalo doesn't get the strongest in-state kids and that depending on what part of NY you're from you'll gravitate to different schools within the 4.

UB is not the flagship of the SUNYs

its of the 4 centers

There's something wrong with the scoring system...

if the highest ranked person is Dan Doeren

The way these things work...

Is that they identify a candicate and gets a verbal commitment from that person before they officially post it - if/when a job posting is done then it's a sign that it's already a done deal, NOT that they are beginning a search.

I think the only choice we have is to soldier on...

until the first bye week after Penn State.

A horrible game but it's still too early in a new O and D scheme to completely panic and change things up.The only thing I would change is to get Shane more snaps - I think getting at least a quarter's worth of playing time over the next 4 games would be ideal.

During the bye, if it's clear that we won't have a shot at winning the division I would want to start prepping for 2015 and start Shane over Devin vs. trying to eek out a few wins over the rest of this year.
