OT: Is anyone else enjoying watching SEC D getting run?

Submitted by VictorBlue on
Is anyone else enjoying their NYE by watching these vaunted SEC Defenses getting lit up today? Must be a bitter pill for ESPN to swallow while broadcasting their pet conference struggling in prime time. Gives me Hope that our return to prominence can be sooner rather than later. HARBAUGH GO BLUE

OSU had a pretty bad loss to VT and the rest of their non conference schedule wasn't spectacular by any means. Not having a conference title game screwed the Big 12 but based on what we saw today from TCU and what is probably going to happen to OSU tomorrow, TCU has a right to be bummed.

I hate this argument for TCU v OSU

TCU lost #5 Baylor

OSU loss bad VA Tech

TCU played 9 conference games.  OSU 8.  So they had 1 more legit game than OSU did who did a round robin of 3 nobodies in the conference.

Both beat Minnesota - TCU dominated, OSU was a close game.

But again TCU replaced 1 baby seal with a conference game.  9 conf games is better than 8.

I agree that's the optimal scenario for the BIG and think OSU can beat Alabama.  If they had Barrett I would really like their chances.

I don't like either team and these comments are strictly from an objective betting point of view.

Urbs may be a better overall coach than Saban.  Saban's a roster cheater and relies on superior firepower to win.  If the game is close late I start to like OSU.

It would be so great to see the meltdown on 11W if Ohio State struts into the final and then has their hopes and dreams crushed by Oregon or Florida State.  It would be the best of both worlds: another SEC team goes down and Ohio State comes up short again.

If the SEC loses enough games this year, they might not have so many autobids into the playoff and "major" bowl games next year.  Most of all, every game the SEC loses now hastens the Big Ten's return to being seen as "elite" by the rest of the country.  Imagine Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State all ranked in the top 15, with Sparty ranked just high enough for the Big Ten East to be called "The best division in college football."

Love seeing the SEC getting beat. But I think I will pull for OSU to beat Bama and then get pummeled by Oregon. Also rooting for Baylor, Wisc, and Minny tomorrow.

Dan Mullen - getting run out of the Orange Bowl

RR - got dominated by BSU for all bu the last 10 minutes

Ole Miss - DESTROYED by TCU

I think Oregon wins it all by a bunch and destroys FSU tomorrow.  Too cold for those Florida boys out in Cali.  Bama should take care of OSU.  I see Jones choking big time

Sparty is in definite trouble against Baylor.  I think Briles has a point to prove and Dantonios crew is in for ass-whoopin'

Oh and we have HARBAUGH!!!!!   Who's got better than us?  NOOOOOBODY!!!

One could/should say RR's team dominated all but the first 10 minutes of that game.  I just don't think that now that we have Harbaugh anyone should be so dismissive of RR's talent.  The guy is a great football coach and had a top 10 team at AZ with a freshman at QB and starting RB (got hurt in the 1st half on a helmet-to-helmet hit).  Also, he may be the only one to beat Oregon this season... Cu'mong man!

Don't forget ND beat LSU as well, they're like honorary ACC.

Georgia did beat L'ville, but if you count ND and this game it's something like 2-6 versus the ACC.

The SEC is crazy overrated. But hey, Arkansas did dominate Texas.

I don't mind seeing the ACC lose, either. There's the Notre Dame angle and the fact that -- when academics are considered -- they're a much more natural enemy of the Big Ten than the SEC is.

Lack of QBs as well this year in the SEC.  Still matters.  Marshall at Auburn was probably their best and Prescott I guess 2nd.  It drops off substantially from there.  But yes I am enjoying it.  I love GA Tech offense - its impossible to take your eyes off, and I can root for them since they are a good academic institution and seem to have a good guy as a coach.

And sorry when it comes to the 2 evil empires tomorrow I will root for Bama.  OSU showed you dont need to be in  great conf to get in the playoffs.  They had 2 wins all year of any note - Wisc and MSU, and I'll throw in Minn there for 3 wins.  The rest were bad teams.  And they lost to a bad team.  Win the Big 10 and you are in.  TCU got robbed.

Then I guess I'll root for Nike to beat FSU and Bama.  Not any good options in this playoff.

My only sadness is not being able to see GA Tech destroy Michigan State's defense in this manner - that was supposed to be the game before Delaney stepped in and got Michigan State BEHIND Miss State in the last week (They moved Miss State up 3 slots for being idle) so that the Big 10 could have someone in the Citrus.  (I guess some weird rule does not allow Big 10 inboth Orange and Citrus)

Sparty definitely won't be scared, but I think Baylor has a lot to prove tomorrow. They felt they deserved a spot in the playoff, and if they want to prove that they deserved it (although it doesn't benefit them very much), they need to hammer sparty. I'm not expecting a 42-3 mashing, but don't be shocked if Sparty comes in a little too confident and falls behind early then struggles to overcome the defecit. Go Bears!
