Bell's Two Hearted until I can't see straight.
Mitch McGary Celebration Drinking Thread
this is my favorite beer. I'm so happy it's available here in madison, too! ... that being said, I am drinking boxed vine because I'm poor as hell. love you, grad school.
Guinness Extra Stout
Lemon-lime gatorade, bitches.
Canada House whisky on the rocks for the night
MITCH MC-GA-RY !!!!!!!!!! MARCH MADNESS 2013 WE BE DANCIN DEEP
There is about a 0% chance that Hardaway leaves after this season...there is no way he would put in two years of work and jump ship right before a recruit like this walks in the door
... and double cheers. a toast to our poorness & to your wonderful logic re: Hardaway Jr.!
Castillo Silver (delicious and rather inexpensive) and diet Coke (because I am fat and don't need to be that much fatter)
So I'm going to hit the Walker pretty hard in hopes of falling asleep before 10.
Damn. I got old.
It's not the Red
Running around his house re-enacting scenes from Titanic while his wife reads mystery novels
so can't get too smacked...Blue Moon please, Cheers!
Samesies. Except for the Blue Moon part. For me it is going to be Green Flash S.D. IPA.
Last night a bomber of Avery Maharaja was the choice.
johnnie walker green label, pounding that ish all night
After I'm done acting like this from the news...
I'll calm myself down with a nice glass of red wine to cap off the day. Girls can get away with this.
I hope. Me I'm trying to bring some sophistication to this damn trailer park. Thus, a skyy vodka martini
And it read:
JOHN BEILEIN'S A PIMP!!!
I will be having a White Russian for White Thunder!
I love that song. And good call on the White Russian.
Brooklyn lager, though in the village and not Brooklyn.
There's only one drink you celebrate with: Jameson's. Although, that's my drink of pity, anger, and "just bored" so maybe this is just me.
I'm right there with ya.
Found OSU tickets at a semi-reasonable price AND Mitch McGary? This definitely merits a drink. Some superschnapps and hot chocolate. Bonus points to anyone who knows what "superschnapps" are.
had to double take this was you. I guess I get bonus points for knowing what SuperSchnapps are
As an undergrad living in the dorms....Budweiser and PBR in my mini fridge! ...'merica
You're a student in the best possible time in recent memory. All sports looking at major upswings. Enjoy your years, and your national championships.
Thanks man. I've got two years left after that I can only help something special happens. If not, it's never a bad time to be a Michigan student. I'll enjoy every second of it
Thanks to Mr. Trombley.
Doesnt get much better than having a friend work at a Budweiser distribution center does it Mr. Kaminski?
That man has a lot of mouths to feed...
This recent Michigan grad is sticking to Bud Light and PBR, so no worries. Those darn student loans are forcing me to continue to drink like a student.
Not the worst punishment in the world - Cheers!
I've been out for 10 years. Bud light was something I treated myself to when I was sick of Milwaukee's best. It was and always will be my beer of choice. Don't ever change and become a fart sniffer.
That's how I feel about my rotation of Bud/PBR...even though I do enjoy PBR. I'll be a Bud Heavy man til the day I die. And to you Tom from AA, it could be worse...you could be drinking Crystal Palace. That shit will put hair on a woman's chest or take her nail polish clean off.
Oh Crystal Palace, it makes me slightly sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
3 Maize and Blue Bong Hits for Mitch Mcgary going BLUE!!!!!
I had a tall hooters cup of captain and the Dr. and now have switched to pounding bud light. It's great to be a Michigan .Wolverine!
Bells Third Coast, soon to be followed by Fat Tire out of a can.
Have you tried the Ranger IPA?
One of my favorites right now.
Getting some 312. Edit: I found I had a few Arbor Brewing Company Red Snapper Pale Ales. An appropriate way to celebrate a huge day for Michigan sports.
Gotta get me a Michigan beer to go with a Michigan recruit - Short's Soft Parade. It's high octane and a little fruity.
Great week to be a Wolverine!
Thunderbird, bitches. Out of a paper bag.
have a video of the commitment?
It's up at UMHoops.
Spaten Oktoberfest...McGary's enrollment next year may mean I will go ahead and get BTN
Same! Good choice.
I hope Mitch himself comes onto this site to see just how excited he alone made this university. Do you think he would have gotten this type of reception from Duke or Florida?
Since I'm a Wisconsin resident, I'll down an icy cold Miller High Life followed by a PBR chaser. For desert, a delicious New Glarus microbrew. Can't wait to see a kick-ass Wolverines hoops lineup raid the Kohl Center this year and next year. Welcome aboard, Mitch. You're the icing on the cake in an already solid recruiting class. BTW, the Badgers are ultra-pesky and damned near impossible to beat on their home turf, so bring your "A+" game to Madison.
all of it.
Passed my drug test... Im hitting some kush
....until both fridges are emptied. This might take a moment. I might need help.
I have a physics 240 exam tonight, so I can't drink, I was waiting for the professor to cancel the exam so everyone could celebrate. That didn't happen.
after a night of heavy drinking. It took away the stress and all the exam anxieties!
i just took the Wonderlic super version yesterday for a job i'm interviewing for - felt like a nervous undergrad when i dialed it up. bttm line: the testing never ends - just manifests itself different ways throughout life.
pumped for MM to come aboard, welcome White Thunder, good luck to you + your new team mates, and GO BLUE!
Some Great Lakes Christmas Ale
I'm right there with you. It seems only fitting.
We may look back years down the road and point to this as the turning point of the program. While it may be huge, it's obvious to me at least that all of this was put in motion by last year's squad. Without the significant contributions of that team, this probably isn't possible
People who say "one player can't change a program" are almost always right in football, and right most of the time in basketball. McGary, though, an exception to the rule.
No cocktails for me tonight, though: make mine coffee, please.
There is no "almost always right" or right "most of the time". Saying one player can't change a program is an absolute statement that it false.
BLACK FUCKING COFFEE.
I have a paper to write tonight, so I'm going to have to postpone my celebration drinking until Saturday. Regardless though, McGary!!!
Tip of the cap to you sir. Tip of the cap.
"Prince on Roller Skates." Yeah ... Now get back to drinkin.'
Loose Canon IPA. Triple hopped!
Martini & Rossi vermouth and Kessler's whiskey. Tastes extra sweet tonight.
Bakon vodka (bacon-infused vodka) on the rocks.
Fin du Monde! num num num
So my night will be filled with lots of Peach Ciroc, Blue MFers, and whatever else I can get my hands on.
I'm so happy somebody made this thread... makes me feel like so much less of an alcoholic.
Trying to finish off a keg of homebrew wheat so we can throw in some homebrew IPA. This is important work...
the Judge. Loved watching Antoine on the court. Other teams would always make fun of how he looked (a little doughy and soft) and then he'd go ahead and drop 30 point on them.
Surly Furious, then maybe some Tullamore Dew
Or Bulleit Rye. Until then, working on the moot court problem for next semester :(
Moved on to Nosferatu, dancing my ass off while cleaning my appt too. Amazing news+beer makes everything enjoyable.
I'm drinking all the Kool-Aid, at 5pm I had a giant Happy PItcher run through my office wall! And in April of 2013 I hope I'm drinking Champagne! If not sooner!
GOOOOOOOOO BLUE, what a day!!!
My celebratory drink? Water.
I was on 696 when I found out. And from one of the biggest D bags ever....Valenti. Sounded like he wanted to cry when he announced it.
I got home, cracked a Dirty Bastard and changed my oil.
The only thing I'm drinking are Spartan and Blue Devil tears....mmmmmm
micro beer from here in ohio called christmas ale
Lath iras Little Stumpin' Ale
I can't decide between Cristal and Dom, so I'll probably end up drinking Camo 24 High Gravity Lager in the 24 oz can
That's good stuff. Doesn't outthink itself, doesn't taste like pee.
Fuck...a big bottle of really good Cachaca. McGary v Sullinger...M v o...White v Bla....oh well...more Cachaca
I don't drink but imma blow a few to the face for my boy Mitch, the beautiful university of Michigan and for everybody in east lancing I know y'all hatin
Sugar, water, and purple.
Whiskey with a splash of sprite!
I can, but I hate to. TERRIBLE hangovers the next day. Seriously, this one time I went to Vegas and drank some whiskey alot allll night and woke up and realized I stole a cop car, my friend was missing, and there was a chicken and a tiger in my premium hotel room, so we went and bought a steak for the tiger instead of just feeding it the chicken. It was nutz. Oh, and there was a baby in the closet. So crazy.
But really, over did on the 7&7s in the dorms and no longer care for whiskey much.
PbP is presently at trivia and will continue barring State College through the night. Updates on Saturday of my status...
2013 is gonna be an amazing season. I do wish we would still have stu douglass and zach novak tho.
I agree. Novak especially, as a rock-solid team leader, has been the lynch-pin of Michigan's revival. From coming up big in the program-defining win over Duke to the leadership aneurysm against MSU to (I hear) playing an important roll in McGary's recruitment, Novak has been one of the defining players of the Beilein era. He won't get his jersey retired or make many of the history books, but people who've followed the team in these years will never forget him.
some Bells Oberon that I've been saving for a special occasion. This is that special occasion.
Racer 5 IPA...
My grocery store is finally selling egg nog so for me it's spiced rum and egg nog. Mixed in with a bottle of red wine.
#9 is a great and under the radar New England beer. It also has the best draft tap too.
Good bourbon. Maybe even the pappy.
This fall's shipments began going out this week!
in honor of halloween, amarula and frangelico. it's candy.
Macallan 18 year baby!!!
I'm late to the party, but I've got Blue Moon going! Go BLUE!
Pinot noir....tomorrow is the beginning of San Diego Beer Week, and I will be enjoying some serious craft brewed IPAs to officially celebrate!
I wonder if there are any good sour grapes over on the Duke interwebs.
Edit: I looked and all I found was, "no surprise" and "congrats" threads. I have to admit I'm surprised.
I think a fanbase accustomed to 20+ years of sustained excellence and a seemingly endless parade of great players is probably not going to get too bent out of shape about losing one (admittedly big) recruit.
Drinking Labatt Blue, my staple while watching the Red Wings... who, by the way, are putting a bit of a damper on this night.
Meeeeechigan. Budwar Light. Chesterton /porter Co IN pipeline established. Hail to the Max.
Fall variety pack... getting it done with a few different options at hand.
was extremely tempted to break open my 1999 bottle of Dom tonight to celebrate this joyous occassion, but thought my wife would not take kindly to me drinking it since we're trying to save it for our 10 yr anniversary...guess it's just a Big K Cola for me.
Hope you're storing it properly...
I love some Dom.
/ former bartender at a wine spectator top 10 bar in America
Rocktoberfest - Prost to M&M!
Balvenie doublewood 12, Lucero on the headphones and my copy of Three and Out arrived tonight.
Crown and sprite I'm gone thank God for auto correct
I would kill for a Guinness right now, unfortunately I'm too lazy to get to the store to pick up some. Looks like all I can do now is overdose on leftover Halloween candy.
Rum and creme de cacao, probably the most underrated drunk in the country!
Meant to say the most underrated DRINK in the country. Apparently, my phone skills indicate that I am the most underrated drunk!
he made a smart choice
