I will have to catch the scores online since I will be at Hanover College in Madison, IN for my Class of '73 Fiftieth Reunion Homecoming.  We have 11 frat brothers from our pledge class returning, including Dr Thom Mayer who is the Medical Director for the NFLPA and the author of the NFL Concussion Protocol in it's current state.

Condi Rice is a minority owner of the Broncos and she's buddies with JH through their Stanford connection.  Wouldn't surprise me if she reached out to him to maybe give them some advice and guidance on potential candidates.

JH's son James is a Delta flight attendant.  Wonder if he's ever worked the Michigan team plane?

UM is in my DNA.  My dad…

UM is in my DNA.  My dad played 4 years, graduating in 1948.  My  pregnant parents stayed in Benny Oostebaan's room in Columbus after the "Snow Bowl" in 1950.  I was born the following February.

Don Canham sent out prints of a snarling wolverine autographed by Bo to alums as a fundraiser in the early 70's.  My dad gifted his to me and I had it professionally framed and hung it over my fireplace in Upper Arlington (Columbus) when I lived there from "73 to '77.  Lots of fun cocktail parties!

Many highs. For me, Under the Lights #1 with Denard is a standout - google the vids post game.  Epic.  Biggest low was the UM vs Oklahoma Orange Bowl.  First year they lifted the bowl ban and we lost!

I like the theme thru these posts.  That this team is having fun, and it's fun to watch them.  Brian mentioned in an earlier post that watching them is like a Caribbean vacation.  Agree 100%.

GO BLUE beat Purdue.

Inn at the Michigan League is always my first choice.  You are literally right next to the actual Bell Tower itself and directly across from the Diag.  One block walk to Ashley's and MDen.  Free parking.  Half the cost of the Residence Inn.

Stadium had to be 45k seats or larger to be considered.  Our stadium here in TO is 35k so we had to commit to adding 10k more.

At Ford Road exit on 275 in Canton, there are 2 Marriott properties - Fairfield & Town Place Suites.  They share running a van back and forth to the stadium on game day for $8/head round-trip.  Dropoff  & pickup in AA on Stadium just past M-Den.  Town Place has a fantastic grilling area out back.  There are restaurants and sports bars galore all over the area.  We stay here every year for our annual football weekend.  We will be there for Hawaii this year.  Check it out.

Inn at the Michigan League…

Inn at the Michigan League is the pro-choice option for staying on campus.  You are directly across from the Quad, the Bell Tower, Ashley's.  And M-Den & Knights Steak House are both right around the corner.

JW Marriott @ Turnberry is a good option if you're a golfer.  They have 2 courses on property and access to others.  This is in Aventura, just south of the team hotel in Hollywood and about as close to the stadium as you can get from the beaches.  Excellent water park there also, and Aventura Mall will be enjoyed by any shopaholics in your party!

hang in there !

I am the Dad of 2 kids born with genetic defects - mine have trisomy9.  When they were born in the early 80's, genetics wasn't even a recognized "science" then.  It was living hell trying to sort things out and get a baseline so we could deal with it.  So many advances a generation later.  You have a ton of professional help and support available now - make sure you use it all so that your boy can grow and develop to his max potential.  When my daughter was born we were told she wouldn't see her 5th birthday.  She turns 33 in March.  Good luck on your journey - parenthood will be different than what you conceptualized, but it will still be very fulfilling - I promise!

Perspective

I work at one of the big IT recruiting agencies here in Toronto.  This article wasn't directed at a mass business audience - it was directed at the internal staff recruiters inside larger companies.  Good message here for  those folks in terms of how to get the attention of top talent - and to keep their attention after you get it and then close the deal.

GO BLUE !!!

Shrug. . . .

Wow, lots of negative feedback for this post.  I didn't think it needed an OT designation given all the earlier posts about M's switch to being a Nike school, and the fact that BB and FB will be "Air" teams.  Returning to lurker status.

Sam Sheppard

Dr Sam's nephew was a fraternity brother of mine at Hanover College.  His wedding in Bay Village was really something.  Dr Sam's second wife was a stunner from Europe who was the complete package.   Dr Sam became a professional wrestler as his second career.

From ESPN - no shit

In fact, Drew Henson, who played for Tomsula in Europe, said Tomsula compared favorably to Lloyd Carr, Joe Torre and Bill Parcells as a motivator.

Hosting Here!

Hosting 8 ex-pat Yanks + a few amazed locals for a real American Thanksgiving at my condo today.  Most of my Canadian buddies don't quite get the reasoning behind why we do it with so much "excess" compared to their Thanksgiving - but guaranteed they like it!

GO BLUE - Beat Ohio!

Brian, you're psychic.  I am going to be in Montreal for Xmas and just today bought tickets for Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal holiday show of the Bach Cantatas.
purple jerseys

I am glad you posted this - I thought I was going color-blind on Saturday.  We get the ABC feed through Buffalo so I figured  the jereseys looking purple compared to the blue sleeves on their compression shirts was some kind of distortion on the tech transmission.  I didn't start drinking till about 5 so it wasn't the booze - the jerseys clearly had a purple hue to them on TV.  GO BLUE!

Federov got a big head

Drove a Lambourghini, got involved with that flashy tennis chick, and he supposedly really wanted to be the team captain but realized Yzerman wasn't giving that title up anytime soon.  So he jilted us for the flashy SoCal lifestyle with the Ducks - for the same $ that we offered him, supposedly.  That's what really stung, it wasn't about the money, he wanted to get out of town after all the Illitches did to get him out of Russia.  Just kind of bitch-slapped us and walked.

Custom Fit is Mandatory

Go to Carl's Golfland or Dick's and work with one of their guys to find the right fit and manufacturer for you.  It's free and worth the investment in time.

I'm a 13 handicap.  I play with Calloway irons and TaylorMade "RockeBallz" woods.  I find  the RB's incredibly easy to swing with.

Hurley

In Toronto our US channel feed is the Buffalo tv stations, so we get a lot of Bobby Hurley news since he's the head coach at UofB.   Every time I see his face I am reminded of those Dook teams in the early 90's and how much I disliked them.

Bama / Dallas

WORST:  Bama in Dallas.  Michigan fanz had one of the endzone plazas and Bama the other.  For some insane reason, two Bama fans were on the Michigan plaza.  The absolutely most obnoxious woman & man you would ever encounter.  We were outmatched from the kickoff and they made sure we knew it every second of the game.   It was absolute torture to keep your composure.  If I didn't have my son with me I would have done something I regretted.

BEST:  Under The Lights #1.  We were in Section 6 Row 30, which is great for viewing south endzone action.  The euphoria/despair/euphoria we all experienced in the last 5 minutes of the game resonated with me for weeks after.  To this day when I need a "pick-me-up" I watch the YouTube videos of that night.

Great piece Brian.  Kudos.  And damn, I almost forgot how much I HATED those bumblebee uniforms - never again please.

IT Recruiter

I am an IT Recruiter in Toronto.  We have a pretty broad footprint doing everything from entry-level help desk folks to CIO's, and everything in-between.  We have placed Nik Stauskas' dad several times, for example.

I have a good AngularJS developer just finishing a contract and available March 01.  If you would consider a remote resource, he'd be a great option for you.  And the exchange rate these days makes him a bargain!

Also, I need a .NET Development Manager (team of 5) for a permanent fultime hire in Windsor if anyone is looking.

Kenny Rogers ??

Were you "outraged" when Kenny Rogers got caught cheating in the 2006 World Series Tigers fans?  Should the Tigers have been fined or had draft picks taken away?

non-milk cereal options

That's a Cali surfer thing.  Milk spoils quickly and does not store well in the back of a surfer van, so they often put orange juice on their Wheaties instead.  Try it sometime.  Not half bad.

Got One - and there is only one left

There were 2 left when I snagged mine.  They didn't have a Canadian shipping option so I had it sent to my son in Atlanta for safekeeping.  Do you think I'll ever see it ?? HaHaHa. . .

I have a source who has two extras in the Ross open seats.  I can only afford them one game!  He takes reservations in January so have to make my decision now.

So It's OK??

I can blame the last 7 years of Michigan football on Mary Sue?

In all seriousness, my son and I both live a long way from Ann Arbor, and we go to one game a year together for a father-son bonding weekend.  BYU for UTL next season, or a road trip to  Salt Lake City to pay back Utah for beating us twice in the Big House?  Thoughts?

Help!

We do a mass donation to the local radio station "christmas wish" at my office.  I have to buy something for a 12-14 year old boy for $50.  My kids are 34 & 31 and I have no idea what kids in this age group want.  Suggestions?

AA golf

My son and I wrapped three rounds of golf around the Miami game last weeked - played Leslie Park once, and Moose Ridge twice.  Leslie Park is a real gem in our opinion.  LOL, can you imagine strolling into the UofM golf clubhouse and having Tom Brady wait on you?

really disappointing

I only see one game a year live & in-person.  Totally agree with Ace's assessment.  They were not dominating in any category and they did not play inspired in any category.  Lloyd ball.  This team will be lucky to win 7 games.  BTW, the new museum at Schembechler Hall is a must-see!

See You Saturday

My son and I are in from Atlata & Toronto, respectively.  Looking forward to rebounding from ND and getting the ship back on the right course.  GO BLUE!

Keep em Coming

Got lucky last-minute waitlist clearance for Inn at Michigan League for the Miami game.  So for the first time in 15 years we won't be tailgating on the golf course for gameday - we will be on campus overnight Friday and Saturday night and walking to the stadium for the game.  I need advice!

Is Frito Bandito's still the best grub in town?  Ashley's the best beer tap?  Dominick's?

I was at the opening game last season and watched Michigan roll 56-0.

Rest of the season didn't go so well.

Let's come out with a balanced attack and contiune to grow and evolve this season please.

Club Seats available

For those who only go to one game a year, there is an opportunity on the MGoBlog Ticket page for 2 Club seats in the Jack Roth Stadium Club at a very reasonable price.  I picked them up for the Miami game, but several others available.

'88 NBA Finals

Remember the 1988 NBA Finals played in the Silverdome with a big black "baggy" cutting out about a third of one end.  Pistons lost Game 6 in the Forum by a point with Isiah Thomas playing with a broken wheel, then lost Game 7 by three in the Silverdome after being down by 15 with about 5 minutes left.  That was one of the Bad Boy's greatest moments!

kale smoothies & seafood stew

I put plenty of vanilla yogurt (Source 35 calories) in with the kale and it balances it out well.

I made a vat of seafood stew last night with homemade lobster broth from 12 lobster carcases frozen after Christmas Dinner.  It's loaded with scallops & shrimp, snapper, halibut, cod and salmon along with potatoes and leeks and a paprika seasoning mix.    We'll be chowing on that starting at kickoff along with sourdough bread & bevvies - white wine spritzers for the Michigan & Wings games, then switching to vodka for the SB.

Ace/The Block

I voted for "The Block" because of Ace's post the next day, which really moved me.  I had gone to Atanta for the weekend but had to return home for work on Monday, so saw the final game on TV after being in the MIchigan Bar all day for the win over Syracuse in Atlanta on Saturday.  Not enough was mentioned about the Witchita fans in Atlanta, who were so gracious and fun and who all encouraged us to do what they couldn't do - beat Louisville.
