When I was struggling with a job that I had grown to dread but felt I couldn't quit because of expectations both real and imagined, I saw a therapist who quoted Dirty Harry at me: "Man's got to know his limitations."

It resonated. I quit the next day and have yet to regret it. Good luck, Brian. I hope you find the tradeoffs you need to make to be happy and healthy.

The '93 Indiana team with Calbert Cheaney went 17-1 and swept the season series with Michigan (15-3) in the Fab Five's 2nd year. Then they lost to Kansas in the Elite Eight. Both M and IU were 1-seeds in the NCAA Tourney.

It's a thing.  Kevin Garnett…

It's a thing.  Kevin Garnett may be responsible.

Thanks for sharing, Ace.

I hope you get the care you need to feel better.

And lucky for us that he did,

And lucky for us that he did, as that decision ultimately begat Bill Walsh College Football for Sega Genesis in 1993.

Gentlemen to bed!

Yeah, this made me think of The Trip...  "Gentlemen to bed! For we leave at 9:30...ish."

Totally on board with boycotts though.  Boycott until no longer necessary.

Looking like they've randomly

Looking like they've randomly decided to show up somewhere is part of the redneck oeuvre, if you will.

A win looks unlikely, but

A win looks unlikely, but that also seemed to be the case prior to the games against Ohio State in '95 and '96 and the bowl game against Florida in '08.  Doesn't this set up as a potential "Nobody Believed In Us!" type of game?

Sometime in 2003

I was curious too, and found this:

It's always marketing.

SNES college basketball

I believe it was the Oklahoma St. center who was awesome at 3s, but that game was great regardless.

nice work, Ace

I enjoyed that.

Police: Why do you have £5,000 in your pocket?

Balotelli: Because I am rich.

Agreed

Brand Management uber alles.  I tend to think that a book like this will ultimately serve to enhance the Michigan "brand" however.  I suppose only time will tell.

Only if you want to deny reality

They ARE little brother, and always will be.

REO

I always imagined growing up that their lead singer had a mustache and looked a little like Gallagher.  Now that I know that he actually looks like Peggy Olson's creepy older brother, I'm strangely disappointed.

1976 video

If you skip ahead to about the 11:50 mark of that 1976 Bo video, you'll get to see some great archival footage of what fans were like 35 years ago.  The bit with people hanging out of moving cars at around 14:00 is especially entertaining.

I've always liked Thorne.

I've always liked Thorne.  Maybe his precision as a play-by-play guy has slipped, but he usually does a great job of capturing the emotion and intensity of the game.  I'll always remember his call of Darren McCarty's cup winner in '97.

Plus, I like that he always refers to the Marsh Peg when the net becomes dislodged.

Seems like in the past we've

Seems like in the past we've always been in the evening in the first round.  I would imagine Michigan is a pretty big ratings draw what with the largest alumni base and all.

Even worse than Oregon

The Ducks really had no tradition to speak of when they mucked with their unis.  Part of hating OSU is the familiarity of the uniforms.  It screws up the visuals when they're running around in stupid "pro combat" red helmets.  It'd be like if the Yankees ditched the pinstripes for teal.  You'd still hate them, but it would just feel weird.

Game on Saturday?

Wait...there's a game on Saturday?  of which the outcome hasn't been decided yet?  Right on!

Brandon said something the other day about how it's great that the fanbase is so passionate, but that they only have 5% of the access and information that he does.  We really have no choice but to trust that he will make the right decision.  Here's hoping that events ultimately prove him right either way, because that means that in the future we will be back to talking about hating OSU instead of creating endless threads arguing about whether the coach should be fired or not.

I, for one, look forward to that day.  Go Blue!

He's got a chance!

I think that is that particular BTN announcer's catchphrase. "So and So's got a CHANCE!" I've heard him deploy it several times...including once in the Temple-PSU game when Devon Smith was returning a punt but got tripped up just short of the goal line.  The announcer yelled into his microphone, "Smith...with a CHANCE.....D'OOOOOOHHHHHH!"  It's good for a laugh...but clearly not good enough for me to look up the clip and embed.

Rivals' scale

Is there a reason Rivals' scale goes from 5.0 to 6.1?  It seems intentionally nonsensical.

the contrast is comical and

the contrast is comical and the agenda is so bleedingly obvious it makes my head hurt.  it's sad really...I used to love reading the free press when I was a kid.  now, I only go there to see what new logical fallacy they're trying to employ in an effort to discredit Michigan.

This is true

it's still the official, alumni-club sanctioned game-watching bar.

Sunscreen

All the other advice is sound, but make sure you also block those harmful UV rays, especially if you are sitting on the East side of the stadium.

Pretty sure that was the cover following the '03 OSU game.  I can't believe that is the last time we beat them.

109,901

At first I was disappointed that they couldn't find a way to squeeze in an extra 100 seats to make it an even 110,001.  Then I realized that having a palindromical capacity is much more satisfying.

I concur. I tried the hoptober last night and enjoyed it. Also, I got drunk.

I saw two nuns in section 7 at Saturday's game. They looked hot, by which I mean warm.
