Samuels looks great, but more

Samuels looks great, but more like your typical dominant back exploiting physically inferior competition. Harris, on the other hand, looks like a truly elite talent. His film reminds of Marcus Dupree or Adrian Peterson, where he just looks like a monster gliding past his competition. I think he's as close to a sure thing as an RB recruit gets.

He might be the highest ever.

He might be the highest ever. Graham was 15 on the composite. I think rojo is 16. Depending on how DPJ finishes in the rankings, he will probably be the highest ranked recruit ever in the state of Michigan for the modern recruiting era.

I know we always say one

I know we always say one recruit isn't everything but I still strongly believe that Terrelle Pryor choosing OSU over UM was one of the most significant moments for Michigan football in the modern era. That's one of the biggest "what ifs" I can think of in sports. RR's tenure would have been much different.

I'M MOWING THE AIR RAND

I'M MOWING THE AIR RAND

It all depends on his

It all depends on his personal preference. Maybe he wants another year of being a college student and enjoying the life. If that's the case, he should stay, and his long-term career path will likely stay the same. But he should strongly consider going pro now....I definitely would. He certainly isn't staying four years to get his degree. He's good enough to play at the AHL level now, and it will do wonders for his development as a player. If he signs now, he can enter unrestricted free agency earlier in his career. He will also stand to make anywhere between 150-180K this year, which he won't ever get back. Not to mention, the entirety of his NHL signing bonus and AHL salary (probably around 475K) would be guaranteed if his career were to derail due to injuries. If he gets injured at Michigan before he signs, he gets nothing except probably a small insurance payout...and that's making the assumption that someone in his family has taken out insurance for him.

There's a better chance of me

There's a better chance of me smoking a joint with the pope tonight than of Babcock becoming the UM hockey coach in the near future. I mean, both are really cool pipe dreams, but it just ain't in the cards.

First the refs call the PI

First the refs call the PI against Dallas, announce it, then reverse it...now this. I don't know what to believe anymore.

I think Hoke has changed the

I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

Something I have come to

Something I have come to terms with in recent weeks is that we're going to start losing many of our top current recruits. Also lost in this shitstorm of a situation will be many current players who are sick of this-- and who can blame them? I hope attrition is kept to a minimum, but I for one will not be freaking out about it as I would have in years before.

I have been here for too long and seen too many star-studded recruiting classes flame out under poor coaching and player development to give a shit about that right now. We need to fix the foundation of this program. We need a competent coach who can develop the players on the roster and lead this team in the right direction on game day and on every other day.

We need to brace for a very turbulent near-future that, we can only hope, will be the catalyst for a bright future in which we have a coach and a program we can be proud of.

Not that I take it seriously

Not that I take it seriously already, but if he's not dismissed from the team, barring some shocking piece of new evidence, then I will never pay attention or give any legitimacy to anyone or any coach associated with this program talking about character or accountability again. That was a flat out coward sucker punch and he could have killed that guy.

I'm the boss of the apple

I'm the boss of the apple sauce at Sunnyvale Trailer Park. 16.5K a year, a double-wide trailer, and my very own omgshirtless personal assistant. I drive around all day in a convertible getting hammered and using walkie talkies.

That's ballin. Nothin' but net.

Well, shit. This stinks for Canada and for anyone who watches the Olympics to see the best athletes on earth in their respective sports. Stamkos is, in my opinion, probably the second best hockey player on the planet and easily the best goal scorer of the modern era.

Rees has proven to be a

Rees has proven to be a capable QB when he has time to throw but is mistake-prone when under pressure. I have to think Mattison's strategy is going to be very heavy on blitzing, no? I think if we can make Rees uncomfortable in the pocket then ND will have a hell of a time winning this game.

Conversely, Gardner is also prone to huge mistakes but is an elite scrambler. ND has an amazing d-line but Gardner is a stellar improsiver and is at his best when he's forced out of the pocket. In that regard, he is significantly better than Denard, who would drive you crazy by refusing to take off when he had the chance.

This is the most confident I've felt going into a ND game in a while. I just have a feeling that we're going to match up very well.

Happy Canada day. May your days be as sweet as only the sweetest of maple syrups.

Dude, he is a college

Dude, he is a college basketball coach in charge of coaching student athletes. You can't throw a basketball at a player's head - not even once. That shit is unacceptable and when taken in the context of the rest of the footage paints a pretty shitty picture of what kind of coach and person he is.

I agree for the most part,

I agree for the most part, but RR did, in fact, go after high-end talent, he just didn't land it very often. If I recall correctly, had he stayed at Michigan, we were set to land Dee Hart, Sammy Watkins, and Kris Frost for 2011....all 5 star players. Have we ever landed three 5 stars on rivals in one class?

Coach Brown,You need to up

Coach Brown,

You need to up your professional demeaner if you want to be taken more seriously. As elaydin wrote above, your UM slant is too easily visible and it makes it very difficult to read your information sometimes.

You have done a good job of getting information and establishing relationships; just remember that such privilege comes with responsibility, and I think that is what is making some people on this site nervous.

Most of the time, your updates and writing style are far too presumptious. If you look at TomVH, although adequate, he isn't exactly Ernest Hemingway when it comes to writing ability. However, Tom very obviously has a professional code and he sticks to it. It's much of what makes him successful and a big reason why recruits trust him, year after year. If you want to avoid problems down the road and want to be taken more seriously, then you need to do the same.

I'm not trying to be a dick about it, but obviously you're trying to make a go at the recruiting business so hopefully you can take some of the criticism you receive from mgobloggers and use it to become better at it.

Gardner's ceiling is

Gardner's ceiling is ridiculous. He is a gamer and if he makes even moderate progress over the next two years, will be an absolute terror for B1G defences. Outside of maybe landing Hand, this news is far bigger than any Hello post we could have gotten.

Stay away from that list.

Stay away from that list. Trust me.

Very exciting to think about

Very exciting to think about our level of recruiting right now, but some people are being overly optimistic about the time it will take for the 12 and 13 classes to have an impact. Sure, Derrick Green will probably contribute early, along with a few others, but the quality of your team is made up mostly of  juniors and seniors i.e. your classes from 3, 4 and 5 years ago. When you look at it from that angle, it will still be a few seasons before our roster is actually comprised of the top-end talent we have become accustomed to bringing in the last two classes.

If you look at our 2010 class, it's pretty weak. It had six 4-stars, of which the highest rated two aren't even with the team (Christian, Dorsey). Now we got Ryan and Gardner as stars, but for a class signed four years ago, it's short on stars and even meaningful contributors.

So I love following this stuff, it's a lot of fun, and there is more than a good chance that the 12 and 13 classes will allow Michigan to pull away, along with OSU, from the rest of the big ten. I'm just saying, don't expect to happen any time soon.

My girlfriend wanted to come

My girlfriend wanted to come over and do dirty things this afternoon and I told her I was swamped with case studies and other non-existent tasks. Obviously, I wanted to be here at 4:00 to either celebrate wildly or emotionally implode with my internet friends upon hearing the decision of an 18 year old.

Sometimes I hate myself.

Great list, thanks for

Great list, thanks for putting it together. Since I assume this is a primer for the Derrick Green announcment, I think it would be beneficial to narrow the focus to backs who were similarly ranked to Green. If you look at Rivals from 2003-2010 and check out the backs who were ranked in the top 10 overall players in the nation, as Green is, you will see that the odds are in favor of Green having a nice, if not excellent, career.

2004 - Adrian Peterson

2005 - Jonathon Stewart

2006 - Beanie Wells

2007 - Joe McKnight

That behavior is unacceptable

That behavior is unacceptable coming from a professional who is being paid to do a job. He should have to return his pay for the week of that game for voiding the terms of his contract. Luckily, the lions don't even need him, as Broyles looks like the better player and better person going forward.

Our best chance to win is to

Our best chance to win is to have Devin at QB and Denard sharing the backfield as an RB/Slot. If he is able to throw then it's an added bonus, maybe he can catch them by surprise a few times.

I hope he gets to throw a few passes but I find it verrrrrrry hard to argue against the fact that Gardner gives us the best chance to win at QB.

Everytime these updated lists

Everytime these updated lists come out and I see guys moving up or down 5 or 6 spots it reminds me how utterly fucking worthless following the lists can be. Here is how I look at it:

Top 20: Unbelievable Talent

Top 100: Sweet

Top 250/300: Still pretty sweet

Below top 250/300: Lower chance of success but who the hell knows?

Aside from that, I just can't get myself to care about who is ranked #35 and who is ranked #90.

I can't speak for every

I can't speak for every sport, but almost every hockey player I know partakes in the green herb at least occasionally in the off-season, and several during the season (maybe twice a month give or take). Once you get down to the AHL and ECHL you have several guys who do it every day. It just isn't seen as a big deal.

While it is against the rules of the league, they don't test for it and when it shows up on a test, the worst that will happen is they'll give you a verbal warning. If they tested and enforced a ban on marijuana in the NHL, they wouldn't have any players left.

Just think about this...when was the last time you heard about a professional athlete in one of the 4 major team sports getting in trouble for testing positive for pot? Never, it doesn't happen. Pot related issues only arise when players are stupid enough to get busted with it in their cars or out in public, ala the Detroit Lions players.

Well considering the 4 most

Well considering the 4 most prestigious players I have access too are all in Europe, it may take the lockout to end before I can take specific player requests, but I'll certainly do the best I can.

Also Blue in Yarmouth, I

Also Blue in Yarmouth, I should have mentioned this before, but if the Dad or the kids are into hockey and would appreciate any autographs or hand written letters or anything of that nature  from some players, then let me know and it will be very easy for me to help out in that regard.

I also refrained from making a lockout joke due to the nature of this thread, and it was hard.

While health care in Canada

While health care in Canada is universal, it differs from province to province so it all depends on system in this particular province. I'm not really familiar with it but I must say I'm very surprised they aren't receiving money and assistance from the government. As an Ontario native, I saw government money go to far less needy medical causes than this.

Last week I came on this site

Last week I came on this site and read nothing but positives about how Michigan was back and MSU better prepare to go back to mediocrity because Hoke's recruiting will start to kick in (pretty much what Brian said), then I come on here yesterday and it's as if our entire program has been blown up and there is no hope for the future and it will take several years for our offense to be good again. Am I missing something, here? What has changed. Did we not realize that if we lost Denard we'd be absolutely fucked? We already knew this.

Bellomy is a redshirt freshman who was a generic 3-star recruit. Then he gets thrown in the game, cold, in one of the most important games of the year, on the road, in one of the most hostile environments in the country, against a team that isn't Illinois, running an offense designed around one of the most profilic dual-threat QBs in history. He turned in an absolute shit-sandwich of a performance, yes. He was awful, yes. But give the kid a break. That doesn't mean he has no chance to ever be good. He was probably so nervous he could barely breathe. If he comes into a game prepared to play, knowing he's the starter, with plays designed for his strengths/weaknesses, then he will have a chance to complete some easy passes, get his confidence up, and then we'll see what he can do.
