Looks like Scout has Lattimore on commit watch at tomorrow's Army Bowl!
Glenville 101 is building up press before an announcement.
Of course, I'd be happy to be wrong.
Please God, let this be true.... 2014! WOOHOOOO
We should probably unneg the op be a use it sounds like there is actually smoke smoke here... I thought he was trolling us but nope. We may have a legit shot...
He's not coming here.
Won't happen, don't get hopes up.
shouldnt we buckle up for safety sake? I mean it IS possible although not likely. I am not going to break the tradition. You will not be able to pin that on me.
I refuse to believe this.
There's a reason why the term "Glenville Games" was coined.
I'm pretty sure Steve Lorenz said on Twitter yesterday that there is no chance of this.
Commit watch for us? Or commit watch for OSU? Somebody can be on commit watch and it doesn't have to necessarily have to be for us.
Lattimore and Smith are a package deal and its highly doubtful both will be coming here. Looks like good news for Ohio State.
More chances for Buckeyes to laugh at our expense. I'm not holding my breath.
This is all a very weird situation. I'm guessing this comes from this Scout Article. And according to the OSU SBNation blog, Marshon recently tweeted that people were going to be surprised by his and Erick (Smith)'s decision, although that tweet doesn't exist anymore. They're taking the view that Lattimore's just trying to build up suspense around his decision, which is plausible, since Kentucky people also seem confident.
In all likelihood, that's what's happening. Lattimore just took his official visit to OSU a few weeks ago, his only official, and hasn't been to Michigan since September (when he unofficial visited for the Notre Dame game.
That sounds like typical "Hey, watch us pick the school everyone thinks we're going to pick tomorrow - but in a surprising way!" bs that is fairly common.
Much like Leonard Fournette's "I'm going to shock the world" talk before committing to the school that everyone had him committing to for months.
I totally forgot about the Fournette events. Lol. Wow, we have had our share of recruiting issues in the past two seasons. How many times did we make the final two only to be spurned? It would be nice to pull a couple late cycle surprises though.
Some of these services are losing subscribers and are throwing crap out there to make some bank. Its embarrassing. Hope 247 does not go here.
He is going to OSU. Nothing to see here. I mean, seriously, just read the headline of the scout article - is that professional? I would be embarrassed to write that garbage.
Webb and Trieu (sp?) are good and need to go elsewhere.
But But But... they say they're going to shock the world!
Yes, and if they don't go to osu they are going to shock people by going sec or Miami, FSU or Clemson. We are headed in the wrong direction right now for these kids to stick their necks out as Gville kids and commit here. If you believe we have a shot at them then you are likely one of those wackos who thinks Tom Brady and Charles Woodson will come back to coach here after they retire.
Hate to be Debbie Downer but I'd rather have a no-name/2-star/under-the-radar class with a 13-1 season, BIG Championship and Rose Bowl victory...
239 days until kickoff (please Brady...just win!!!) #goblue
That has nothing to do with the thread.
The kids really need to go back to school so MGoBlog is readable again.
Where did this come from??
WTF 2 Stars? This post is turrible.
even a wandering fool can find a couch to burn.
Even if it was to happen...I wouldn't get my hopes up till Feb 5 and the ink drying on the LOI.
I'm not one to refuse to get my hopes up, because I love getting my hopes up, but my brain is telling me this seems weird. Totally possible though.
Here's my conspiracy theory as to why this could happen: Smith and Lattimore want to be package deal, plan on going to OSU. OSU now tells Smith they don't have room for him, but they totally still have room for Lattimore. Being friends, these guys say "Dick move, OSU" which is why Smith delayed his commitment. They decide they still want to play together, and to stick it to OSU/stay close to home/get an education/whatever they pick Michigan because we have room for both.
That's not terribly far fetched, right?
I'm still not counting on it, because it certainly defies conventional wisdom.
Seems far fetched. Sorry to say it, but I don't see it happening. I will be plenty happy when Peppers signs his letter of intent .
Go buy a lottery ticket.
They have always had room for both and if they didn't they would make room. They're not stupid, you don't turn down 4-star players from your number one pipeline.
I've been hearing that there's a chance something happens tomorrow from a couple different sources and people now. Not sure if Smith will announce tomorrow but Lattimore still might. Recruiting is fluid.
Not getting my hopes up!
Qu'un sang impur abreuve nos sillons!
But I doubt it's worth getting up in arms about.
It's recruiting. Not much about it actually makes much sense. If it happens, sweet. If not, I won't be heartbroken.
Change the title of this thread. Thaught we actually were going to get a nice pickup and.........no.
Anyone who thinks these guys aren't going to OSU still calls MSU little bro probably.
I refuse to believe he lets two of his players show up UM like so many are saying they will. They may or may not sign with the good guys, but what they absolutely will not do is grandstand because Ginn won't have it. He maintains strong relations with former players
Yes. He knows that football scholarships are the not way some of his players from the worst streets of Cleveland are going to college, and he puts more effort into maintaining his reputation than any other HS coach. Now I know he had a vendetta against Lloyd Carr (not sure why) but I know he isn't gonna let two of his star players mess around like this. And if they were doing just that, then the crow you will see both eating will be because he made them. Who knows, they may end up at Ohio, but he won't let them make a fool of themselves in the process, as many are assuming they will
Should we buckle up for a Ohio commit, I see ZERO reason to believe Lattimore is coming here. None, we might possibly walk away with Smith and even that's a BIG if.
I'm hearing the exact opposite. Everything I've seen from numerous people say no way Smith is coming here. Hardly any will comment on Lattimore though. Many believe Lattimore will still take his visits even if he commits tomorrow.
My prediction: We get neither.
"We get neither" = PAIN
so that sounds like a reasonable prediction, Clubber.
I hear Bolivia is nice this time of year.
Is there a post that was banished or something? Who are you replying to?
I think he was referring to the OP. I could be wrong.
Some trusted guys at Scout have heard from a source close to Lattimore that he is, in fact, leaning towards Michigan. Smith had decided to delay his announcement but has now decided that he will make his announcement tomorrow after all.
It's been believed all along that these two were a package deal and now it looks like it could be at Michigan. This is all hearsay right now and no one is saying it's 100%.
I reached out to Mason Cole and he said he is going to talk to them tonight and let me know what he finds out.
If this happens, Brandon, I will kiss you straight on the mouth.
I would say no way. What has transpired makes me feel either immediate playing time has become an issue or Urban got caught playing games. I also agree with those who said that Ginn Sr. Doesn't seem like he would allow games to be played with Hoke.
Tongue, no tongue, your choice.
Brandon, I'm not going to kiss you on the mouth, but I will buy you a beer if this comes to fruition.
Please don't get our hopes up like this. Regardless of whether anyone believes this staff is competent or not, it's always awesome getting highly regarded recruits. Either the staff proves than can develop great recruits into great players, or we get someone else who will get a chance to do so. Win/win in my eyes. Someone is going to be able to come in here and do something with these guys, and I cannot wait for that day.
He is not getting our hopes up, he is simply doing his job.
some good news for 2014. Something, anything.
When it's not football season, we get tons of good news. So that suggests this is possible.
But if it's not, I heard some rumblings yesterday that both now want to take officials to MI from a completely different source. This seems entirely possible. But I might hate you for a few minutes tomorrow if it doesn't. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing the info, Brandon!

hope you can keep up us in the loop coach brown.
You are killing me lol. I'm not getting my hopes up though.
If they want to play with Peppers and Thomas and get near instant playing time, and do so without ever taking an official here, then Michigan it is...
but it sounds more to me as if this is a planned snub by OSU folks towards us.
it seems to be ironclad! Send them a text, and let us know what happens. . . . Seriously!
thanks for the work as always
I'm still not even close to buying it. Even if some of the Scout OSU guys are hearing this, they're probably hearing it from people who want the suspense / false hopes. In fact, while Urban was at Florida, wasn't he known for encouraging his recruits to play up their FSU interest right before announcing their decisions?
So you're saying there's a chance!!
So you're saying there's a chance!!
Well OK, maybe (but only because you are so persistent).
Don't trifle with our emotions, man.
I have heard the reason why the announcement is back on is because Ginn told him not to mess around and play games with any staff.
If so then its OSU considering smith recently said he wants to visit both us and msu
It's pretty tough to believe that Michigan hasn't had a football committ in this class since Jared Wangler on August 9th.
Right, but haven't they only had 1 spot open? I'm not sure if you were referencing struggles down the stretch, but it's not like they have a bunch of open spots that just can't be filled.
We have more than one spot open. The coaches would have taken McDowell and Hand, if not more.
I know we have gotten some big surprises in losing some kids, but may be it is time we get a surprise pick up or two?
This looks like Buckeye grammar to me.
There is no way they are coming to Michigan. I remember seeing a pic of these two during their official visit to Michigan, and they looked like two people who were trying really hard not to enjoy themselves...like it would have been a betrayal to their OSU roots to actually have a good time at a great place like Michigan.
I'd be shocked if they came to Michigan. Not happening.
Seems like you're reaching just a little. Kinda hard to tell something like that from a photo. How can a still image convey how someone is trying not to have fun?
it was also what they said about the visit. They definitely were impressed by Michigan, and you could tell by their comments that they were impressed (I don't want to look up the links) but it seemed like they were trying not to piss off all of their friends/family in Bucknutland by being TOO excited about Michigan.
Believe me, I'd love nothing more than if these 2 guys decided to play for Michigan.
Yeah, you're reaching big time. They had great things to say about Michigan after their visits.
Didn't Urban get the Pouncey brothers to act like they were going to Florida State before ultimately announcing Florida? I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'.
Sorry a very long work week.
Known for their character.
2014 will be better than 2013. Period.
Sweet if it happens. Not expecting much.
OK, so it's either gonna happen or it's not. Did I get that right?
...isn't so sure.
I'll have to look in to this.
You are right
Thats a definate maybe, its possible.
I find it hard to believe that they will come to Michigan, but I'm not going to lie and pretend that my hopes aren't up. My hopes are very up, but I don't mind a little disappointment.
earlier today; I knew we would get a "buckle up?" post. Something is in the air.
It's an arctic front with a rare polar vortex occurring.
Recruiting is fun, right?!
Please Lord, let them be eloquent, wherever they pick. Ok?
You win the thread.
Edit: too bad I replied, thus locking in your gross misuse of "OK".
Just end the announcement with "Go Blue".
I'm putting the odds of a "taking my talents to..." at around 98%.
Hold me TomVH
Why would the coaches be offering new kids if we were getting 2 new commits with limited spots?
Its possible that they're in the dark too. The coaches didn't know where DaShawn Hand was going till he announced live on TV. It's possible they know they're in it, are also rightfully doubtful about their chances, and are making sure they have options
It's possible that the coaches have found out that some current roster guys are not returning in 2014.
Nope?...then I'm not expecting they're committing to UM. For what it's worth TVH thinks only OSU has room for both (implying UM doesn't).
At least 3 guys at risk to fall off before next August. Malik, Jones, and these 2 can be absorbed. Not that I think they Go Blue, but the coaches can find rioom.
But you and/or scout are getting duped. There is no chance they both end up at Michigan unless Urban gets bombed at Excalibur and fired for some embarrassing public display prior to signing day
at the idea that OSU would fire Urban for embarrassing the school.
Of course they would, for things like "suspending a player for academic reasons" or "telling the truth to the NCAA."
The AD or president however .
So I guess that means there is a less than zero chance it happens.
Well if his won/loss record embarrasses them, it's more than possible....
Something something OSU coaches punching Clemson players...
....if you're 65, you haven't beaten Michigan in 3 years, and the board thinks you're over the hill....
I am just reporting what I've found out since this rumor started swirling around. I don't think they will commit to Michigan but it's interesting that this rumor has gained some traction today.
We'll see. The posts on 11 Warriors seem to be very confident that they are committing to OSU. I'm not getting my hopes up.
Either be Ohio or an sec school, I just can't see them both up and commit to Michigan. Chances seem VERY slim. What time is the game tomorrow?
I think it's at 1:00
I know they are rumors. But they are coming from Scout and Rivals. Don't get your hopes up. But it's not some dudes twitter handle who claims to know something.
yeah- this is a last-ditch attempt to get a few more eyeballs on the game tomorrow. so many are so easuly fooled.
I will eat a bowl of crap if they end of choosing us. there is 0.0% chance.
I had pulled pork for dinner. You can bet your ass that I will hold you to this promise.
Lattimore and Smith to Ohio State.
I don't know the details, but there was a thread at 11 Warriors having to do with trolling Kentucky. I mean, Hoke and Mattison have done some great recruiting things, and I'm not as negative toward the two coming to Michigan as some of you are. But the gist of it was that some smart alec Ohio fans were creating personas suggesting they were going to Kentucky.
A sucker is born every minute, and to me, everyone should be very skeptical. I've yet to see the first recruit in the top 50 (like Lattimore) flip from a top 10 school over to Michigan. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Hoke homer, I think we're doing a great job of recruiting, and I believe that Peppers is the real deal and is coming to Michigan. But I pretty much refuse to get my hopes up on a high 4 star, consensus top 100 recruit flipping from Ohio (or USC, or Stanford, or Alabama, or Auburn, or Georgia, or Texas, or A & M, or Oklahoma,) over to Michigan.
The day that Fournette or Hand switch, or Adoree Jackson or Joe Mixon decide to come to Michigan, well that's when I'll know that some real powerful recruiting magic is going on.
i will eat two bowls of shit when any of that happens.
You seem pretty insistent.
In the extremely unlikely case that these guys do commit to Michigan, won't it kind of ruin an otherwise good day to eat a bunch of shit? Why don't you just pledge to donate some money to the university or the blog or something?
you got it.
Not to eat shit comes from a guy named "Turd Ferguson" lol. I have seen some weird declarations around here but never have I heard someone declare they'd eat two bowls of shit. I mean damn. Maybe Turd Ferguson is Marshon Lattimore. That being said, could you imagine if they actually did commit to the good guys? Especially after the Ohio loss, gosh, I might spend the whole day at 11 warriors.
Edit: I re-read your declaration, I now realize you were talking about adoree Jackson and Hand flipping to Michigan...Actually, wait, never mind, a few posts below you reinterate your claim to eat 2 bowls of shit.
On a serious note (because this isnt happening), who the hell else do we sign this class? We dont lead for anyone, and after going 7-6 we really havent been picking up any steam on the recruiting trail since this train wreck of a season started. Last commit was in August.......
I'll believe it when Ace Williams reports it.
dont see us getting any of our remaining targets. maybe get a poopsy mcgillacutty.
Just doesn't seem like there's any good source on these guys. They've both been totally silent the entire recruitment and now the day before their commitment there's a good leak?
I'm not saying the report is accurate, but "leaks" tend not to happen 10 months before kids commit. I mean, I'm not sure when else you would expect information like this to become available. Would a report like "It's only March 3, but I hear that Lattimore and Smith are going to commit to Michigan on January 4" really mean anything?
They're both OSU. Makes us look bad to have a couple 18 year olds getting a fan base fired up for nothing. Here's to hoping I'm wrong, but I don't think it's likely.
Lattimore and Smith, both coming here.
Book it and believe it.
you keep saying this. Why do you keep saying this.
Any other brilliant guarantees you wish to bestow upon us?
The more I think about it, the more I think there's little to no reason for hope. Ohio is the place for these guys.
that Meyer would have these two recruits commit to Michigan verbally and then have them sign with Ohio on NSF. That would just about screw us out of a couple players. Sounds outrageous but I'm just thinking out loud.
I don't know how to post the tweets properly but this is what Damien Harris posted last night:
he realizes the need for the B1G to be strong and he was rooting for a B1G victory. Perhaps he has a good relationship with Urban Meyer, perhaps we are too worried about all of this. In a perfect world, a mans word is his word and something to be honored and protected, but that is not the case in this world we live in. I hope Damien is a young man of his word, but if he chooses to go elsewhere, that is his decision. A bunch of grown men hanging on every word of a teenager posts looking for a reason to declare what his intentions are is absurd. We will find out in 13 months what his decision is.
obviously responding to him negatively for cheering for Ohio State. I think that's bull shit an hurts Michigan's cause.
I went to his twitter account to see if there was any changes because he had removed any reference to Michigan and that's when I found this. You're making an awful lot of assumptions if you think I'm "hanging on every word".
Visiting his twitter profile multiple times and posting one of his tweets here qualifies as "hanging on his every word." Yes, the bar is low for that qualifation; but it is low for good reason. Leave the kid alone - stop spreading his tweets.
that I thought that you were among those who my post ultimately addresses, however; I am not sure how many would come to the conclusion that you think its bull based upon what you wrote. You show his post and then emphasize the fact that he was cheering for Ohio State. You never gave a reproof of those who might be contacting Damien. If you take yourself out of the picture and not take what I said personally, as it was intended to be more of a generalization, I think you would have to agree that there are, in fact, an awful lot of grown men hanging on every word that these recruits publish. If you are going to his Twitter feed to verify what changes he made to his account, you might want to re-examine your priorities/ motives.
You are correct though, contacting these kids is not going to encourage recruits to come here. We are hurting our chances, and these kids are definitely networking with one another through social media, so bad experiences travel fast. Look at Bradley Roby's comments to the Ohio State fans about regretting having played for them for the past x years. If we think that kids don't pay attention, we are kidding ourselves. If kids are looking for recruiting information about Michigan that is abundant and free, or if they want to get a general idea about what the fans feel about the team/coaches/players, this is likely the place they will turn so we might want to tone down the negativity.
