| 1 week 4 days ago | It wasn't so much his right |
It wasn't so much his right or left hand that were the issue but his right and left knee. He had a lot of potential but every time he started to learn and improve a new ligament would pop. Never got to fulfill even half of his potential. |

When you said "rival" what I think you meant was "vanquished foe." |

I'm a little nervous myself, especially with so much riding on that redshirt with where he is at developmentally. He certainly didn't have a good day but he seems capable of being a really tough quarterback to play against in the future, if a little bit unconventional. His runs were as good as his passes were bad. He seems capable of scrambling for 6 yards in 3 strides at any moment. Reminds me of the quarterbacks who gave us nightmares for so many years under Carr. He seems to have gained something, physically. We're probably going to be very run heavy over the next couple of seasons, and Gardner could be a killer in short to mid yardage situations. Athletically the hype is deserved, but yeah, you definitely wouldn't want to hand over the keys at this point. |

Listen young fella, if it was good enough for Little Mac, it's good enough for Denard. I just hope he is spending time memorizing Nick Saban's eyebrow twitches- they predict what play the defense is calling. |
| 5 weeks 3 days ago | What about the Illinois game |
What about the Illinois game last year? Gardner made some key plays. Some of those runs he had yesterday were the most exciting plays of the scrimmage. It's not like he had wide open options to choose from out there in the passing game. I wonder how much less skepticism he'd get as a QB if his motion wasn't so ugly. His passing needs work, but I will gladly pin our hopes on that guy after Denard graduates. I'm all for getting him on the field at wide receiver, but I could just as easily see him giving teams fits at QB in two years. The kind of guy who makes 3rd and 3 seem like a good situation to be in. |

Whether it was him or not, in my head I read them in Drew Sharp's voice. Those were some real ball busters. |
| 5 weeks 6 days ago | You're shocked that parents |
You're shocked that parents flipped out and he was forced to resign after that? Girls' soccer parents? His resignation was inevitable the moment he hit send! He basically told the parents never to talk to him, cracked both Michael Vick and steroid half-jokes, and spent the rest of the letter acting like he was Béla Károlyi. Matheny's letter was coming from a good place and was full of painful truths. Just like little league baseball. /sheds tear... I would just love to see that ex coach bump into some of those parents at an Applebees, still wearing his Green Death official coach's windsuit. |
| 6 weeks 2 days ago | Oh well. |
What can you do about it? I mean, other than lock up an entire line of four stars, but that's just crazy talk. Not even close to possible. Wait, what? Anyway, as long as two of this year's class is ready to play in 2013 we should be okay, and maybe they can unearth the O-Line's version of Brink to add a little stress-relieving depth. |
