Its possible that they're in the dark too. The coaches didn't know where DaShawn Hand was going till he announced live on TV. It's possible they know they're in it, are also rightfully doubtful about their chances, and are making sure they have options

I don't know the details, but there was a thread at 11 Warriors having to do with trolling Kentucky. I mean, Hoke and Mattison have done some great recruiting things, and I'm not as negative toward the two coming to Michigan as some of you are. But the gist of it was that some smart alec Ohio fans were creating personas suggesting they were going to Kentucky.

A sucker is born every minute, and to me, everyone should be very skeptical. I've yet to see the first recruit in the top 50 (like Lattimore) flip from a top 10 school over to Michigan. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Hoke homer, I think we're doing a great job of recruiting, and I believe that Peppers is the real deal and is coming to Michigan. But I pretty much refuse to get my hopes up on a high 4 star, consensus top 100 recruit flipping from Ohio (or USC, or Stanford, or Alabama, or Auburn, or Georgia, or Texas, or A & M, or Oklahoma,) over to Michigan.

The day that Fournette or Hand switch, or Adoree Jackson or Joe Mixon decide to come to Michigan, well that's when I'll know that some real powerful recruiting magic is going on.

I'm not saying the report is accurate, but "leaks" tend not to happen 10 months before kids commit. I mean, I'm not sure when else you would expect information like this to become available. Would a report like "It's only March 3, but I hear that Lattimore and Smith are going to commit to Michigan on January 4" really mean anything?
