I mean. Did you watch this year? Michigan WAS a tire fire on offense, and we went 7-5 because of it. I'm not saying fire Hoke or anyone else, but Borges is just awful man. He lost us at least two games this year, and that could have been the difference between losing and keeping this kid. Ask yourself this: would you rather play for Al Borges, or any one of another truly gifted OCs? Because Campbell has his pick.
I've been pretty positive around here, and FIRE BORGES isn't exactly an outlier opinion, so not sure what you're getting so exercised about, like this is somehow my fault.

I'm glad you're so sanguine about this but 5* wide receivers don't grow on trees. This kid had the raw potential to be a generational talent

To a certain extent this is us getting what we deserve for putting up with Borges's bullshit. Dave Brandon can call all the recruits he wants but if he's not going to get the right staff in place ASAP some of the kids will get the joke eventually. Hard to blame Campbell, frankly

Eh I think you're being too hard on them with a C+. We had a big plus defense in terms of yards per rush, and looking at pure TFL and sack numbers obscures this. Case in point is your overly harsh view on QWash, who while he did not tally many big plays himself, kept the middle LBs clean enough to deliver on those rush defense numbers. He made lots of 'silent' plays IMO this year. I would give the unit more like a B/B+ if it were me...

I'm sure he's hearing otherwise from e.g. Nick Saban but I haven't heard a single credible source suggest Hoke's job is in any jeopardy right now, so not sure where he's getting that nonsense.

I'm of the opinion that if you're really firm in your commitment, you don't need to make public statements about how firm in your commitment you are. Color me extremely skeptical / nervous here.

This is why no matter what I will not be booing the team at the game this weekend. Al Borges could walk out to midfield and take a shit on the M and I won't boo.

I'd be shocked if we cracked 14 points on offense in regulation. They prob have the second best defense after MSU we'll face this year, right?

I dunno, players who look better to me now than in game one: Washington, Black, Clark, Wormley, and Henry. I can't think of one I think looks worse
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Usually I think using the||
Usually I think using the word 'unacceptable' in conjunction with describing the performance of a college football team is ridiculous, but there is one thing I actually find unacceptable: players or units getting worse over the course of a season. Look at the offensive line. I think it has gotten worse and more confused basically every week. Fitz gets no better at blocking. Devin has regressed massively. Now contrast this with Mattison's D. I feel like I see more out of those guys every week at most positions. That's how it needs to be, no questions asked. College players are basically all at a stage of development where they should all be improving markedly week to week, and Borges can't get that done.

Our d line was stellar this past game and the young guys have been showing improvement week to week. What are you talking about?

I'm going to have to disagree with you strongly. Let's assume for a second that firing an OC mid-season is bad and regardless of what will happen to Borges eventually, the administration will try to avoid this. Given that, almost regardless of what happens in-season, it seems to be in Hoke's best interest to circle the wagons until the changes actually need to be made at the end of season. He gains little by publicly throwing his staff under the bus mid-season before the changes, so the fact that he says little and defends the play calling, in my mind, reveals very little information about his true intent. The only time I could see this helping a coach is if the head coach is on the hot seat as well, and needs to buy some time. Hoke isn't, and doesn't.

Ironically all the losing and crappiness has made my relationship with sports all the more healthy. I have wayyy more perspective on things when the team (and coaching) straight up just sucks.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Serious question for people:||
Serious question for people: why is everyone convinced that Hoke won't make serious changes to the staff after this year? Everyone seems to be telling themselves that basically if Brandon doesn't force him, he'd be more than happy to keep Borges and Funk until the end of time. Where does this come from? Past history retaining underperforming coaches/coordinators? Something else I don't know about? If it's just going based off of his comments, I don't take much from those. In most cases, even if he was thinking about making big changes, he would probably be publicly defending his guys until the end.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Does anyone else just not||
Does anyone else just not care any more? There would have been years where I would have been furious about yesterday and the loss would have ruined my weekend. Instead I shrugged, went to get dinner with friends, and went out for a pleasant evening. I'm numb to losing at this stage.
|6 weeks 4 days ago||I've been quietly hoping that||
I've been quietly hoping that Brandon will agitate for change. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who will let Borges continue to fart away games and do nothing. I think he has as high or higher expectations for the program than any of us and will throw boatloads of money at Hoke's staff until the right guys are in place

I don't usually comment on this, but it's in very poor taste to wear the flag as clothing. It's similar in nature to flying another flag above it or letting it touch the ground - you're just not supposed to do it. If you want to honor the flag/troops, this is basically the opposite of what you should do.
