Disappointed in the crowd
I'm not sure if anyone else has commented on it but I was very disappointed when a decent sized portion of the crowd booed when the scoreboard was going through past coaches and mentioned RichRod as the current coach. It's been 3 years people get over it and support your coach.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
they booed because he doesn't deserve (yet) to be mentioned in the same breath as Yost, Crisler or Schembechler.
That was my snapshot analysis, anyway.

just relaying the sentiments of the old dudes with ear hair.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
no he doesnt belong in the same category as the other coaches but don't boo the guy. He is our coach so support him. This crap is getting out of hand. My prediction is that we're winning at least 7 maybe 8 games this year and RichRod gets to stick it out for the long haul so you better get used to him
September 5th, 2010 at 2:12 AM ^
If he survives this year (which after seeing UConn get thrashed, I think is a safe bet), he'll be here pretty much as long as he wants to. The D next year will be pretty sick with Floyd the junior and Cullen having some PT under his belt, and of course Wolf there. So Christian will be a junior when he gets starts.
RVB, Martin will stay for their senior seasons, Roh will be a Junior, Denard/Devin will rull the offense(with Dee Hart maybe?) and a slew of seniors.
The team will finally be a majority of upperclassmen next year. So Rod, win and stick around. And Mr. Brandon, please don't fire Rod. He's close to prominence.
September 5th, 2010 at 7:45 AM ^
Schilling on O and Ezeh and Mouton on D (not counting Rogers). If they continue to play the way they did yesterday I expect some more high profile recruits to join the ranks this year and recruiting to really explode next year.
September 5th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
Sagesse and Dorrestein are also seniors.

I guess you are assuming that RR will win 11-12 games just about every year and the MNC if he survives this year?
That's a hell of a leap. I think RR is a great coach but he has to win over the long run, not just survive this year.
September 5th, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
Are you suggesting that the Michigan head coach must win 11-12 games a year to keep his job?
September 4th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
September 4th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
They booed him to make him coach better. Duh.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
There was a guy spewing the most vile, racist things about RR. I can understand if people don't agree with everything he does but this is getting out of hand. It's times like this when it's good to look ourselves in the mirror and realize that it's not 2006 anymore. We're in a rut. It happens. But Rodriguez has absolutely shown us that he's committed to winning at Michigan. It takes a good man to go through what he's gone through.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:51 AM ^
he's not even hispanic.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:10 AM ^
Yes, his family is of Spanish descent.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:21 AM ^
he doesnt consider himself hispanic.
September 5th, 2010 at 7:38 PM ^
I don't consider myself unemployed.
Voila.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:14 AM ^
His father came from Spain.
September 5th, 2010 at 3:19 AM ^
Grandfather*
RR's father is from West Virginia.
September 5th, 2010 at 1:08 PM ^
next to me sat a down-in-fronter who apparently doesn't like black Michigan QB's, and had this to say about Denard before the game.
"I thought Demetrius Brown and Michael Taylor sucked too - he better start Tate"
I was speechless.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:11 AM ^
and say RR is a great coach. These people watch too much ESPN and read too many newspapers.
I wasn't at the game but if I would have been and heard that I would have been very upset. C'mon the guy has had enough. All this crap has happened to him and somehow he still manages to coach at a high level bring us a QB that on his first start breaks a Michigan QB record. Yeah...wen need new coach!! NOT!!!
Go Blue!! RR has my 110% support!!!
September 5th, 2010 at 12:17 AM ^
On the day that his masterwork, a brilliantly-conceived and perfectly-executed renovation of the Stadium is rededicated. Can anybody tell me what that is all about? You bring in a $258 million dollar renovation, against hostile opposition, on time, within budget, and exceeding the expectations of everyone involved.
I thought to myself, what a bunch of ignorant dumbshits. Actually, they give ignorance and dumb shit a bad name.
Meanwhile, Regents White and Deitch, who voted against the Stadium renovation project four years ago, walk out into the sunshine for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:05 AM ^
And kudos to Martin as well for making sure that the rededication game came against a quality opponent. It wouldn't have been the same if this game had been against a patsy.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:24 AM ^
RichRod has my complete support.
I dont agree with him forcing a complete spread offense in 08, I think he should have done some form of pro/spread hybrid.
But he doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside Yost and Schembechler, yet. if his teams perform as well as I think they will, he will be.
September 5th, 2010 at 7:58 AM ^
The 08 team wasn't going to be successful no matter what as most of those players had played in any system because they hadn't played period. This was part of the problem with Lloyd not wanting to run up the score- the backups seldom played.
So last year we would have been learning a new offense so maybe we could have had a win or two more in 08. It's called long term thinking. Yost and Bo weren't the only coaches mentioned and seeing as how RR is Michigan's coach now he does deserve to be mentioned.

Oh wow I didn't even hear any boos in my section
September 5th, 2010 at 8:32 AM ^
lots of boos
September 5th, 2010 at 7:15 PM ^
clearly they can't handle the responsibility of single digit rows....
September 5th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
section 35 row 75 got a bunch of dumbasses right in front of me ..... good thing I just go hang in the student section at the first tv timeout with my friends
September 5th, 2010 at 12:26 AM ^
didnt really hear any boo's when that situation came up where i was sitting..
September 5th, 2010 at 12:31 AM ^
i didn't hear any boo's either.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:03 AM ^
section 6, upper rows didn't have any boos either
September 5th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
Section 29 row 10ish... but to be honest I was so drunk that when the Fireworks went off I cringed in fear thinking Dilithium Denard had just gone nuclear. I think the same went for most of the other guys around me.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:28 AM ^
If I was in the stands with my dad and I booed a coach like RR he would have smacked me in the mouth. I would love to see any of these booing morons do it in front of his (my dads or RR's) face. Cowards.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:33 AM ^
any boos coming from my section. But there was a lot of shock when Gardner came in for Shoelace, NOT Tate!
September 5th, 2010 at 2:53 AM ^
I was also in section 44 and I didn't hear any boos either. It's sad though that we have to even be discussing this
September 5th, 2010 at 9:57 AM ^
I didn't hear any boos in section 3.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:34 AM ^
I hope these people dont really want to see a coaching change. Do you know ow much furthur back Michigan would be set with another coaching change? Coach Rodriguez cares about the players and the school, the only thing I can see from it is that his philosophy is different than coaches past and people are resistant to change.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:42 AM ^
I think I heard a few, not in my section but I heard a few faint ones.
But I sure wasn't disappointed in the crowd loudness on defense! Was pretty damn loud! The UConn players even said so. We are on the verge of changing the label of our football crowd! It was loud today, but we can and will have to do better!
September 5th, 2010 at 12:45 AM ^
You in San Siego? Where? Shoot me a note. [email protected]

September 5th, 2010 at 12:56 AM ^
I did hear a lot of UCONN fan's booin from time to time.. could of been the ones booing RR idk.. Probably cause he has shit all over them 5 times
September 5th, 2010 at 3:07 AM ^
Makes a lot of sense.
September 5th, 2010 at 8:39 AM ^
It was the same idiots who tell me to sit down all game long. These people claim they support Michigan but boo the coach and barely cheer for the team and when the people around them stand and cheer they tell them to sit down. I've had these tickets for the past 5 years and have heard this crap almost every year. Next year I'm requesting to be moved
September 5th, 2010 at 1:06 AM ^
After we had to settle for a field goal after our 8-minute drive, I heard some stupid woman a few rows behind me yell "NICE PLAY CALL CARR!" I guess some people are never satisfied.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:07 AM ^
I heard some. There was more cheering than booing, but yeah, some did boo. There certainly wasn't any directed at him during the game, though.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:25 AM ^
I hate fans who boo the team they root for while attending the game. Why go if you're going to be a dick like that. I understand Rich Rod gets paid so some people think they have the right to, but as a fan it is something that I never do.
September 5th, 2010 at 3:03 AM ^
Woah woah woah hold up....Those boo's were from the student section because the wave wasn't being continued in the non-student section.. I thought a few of the boo's came at unfortunate times which I felt bad about.
The wave did finally get going...
September 5th, 2010 at 4:02 AM ^
September 5th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
That is because we have a great angle of the student section. We can clearly see the students trying to get the wave started. It always looks so great when the students begin because everyone is participating. We (the ones in our section) can see it clearly because we are almost looking straight out, across the field. We anticipate being a part of the wave because it looks good when everyone is involved. So even when the middle sections whiffs on the first few tries, enough of us in the southwest corner will stand up anyway. From then on it snowballs until everyone in the stadium participates.
I will give the middle section the benefit of the doubt. They are the ones who need to take their eyes off the game in order to see that the wave is beginning. Where from my section the game and the student section are in our field of view.
September 5th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
No, you're thinking of something else. The OP is talking about what happened before the game, when the PA talked about Michigan tradition and mentioned some of the coaches that have been here. When the names Yost, Crisler and Schembechler were announced, there were loud cheers. When Rodriguez's came up, there was a quieter mixture of cheering and booing.
