I want Alabama to beat Tennessee.

Show how much a fraud and terrible the overrated SEC East is to have their division winner go 0-2 against the West and then lose again in Atlanta.

Plus, Tennessee was way too lucky to be undefeated before last week.

Forget about Texas A&M fumbling the game clinching score in a 70 yard run for a touchback or the Vol's completing the miracle Hail Mary against Georgia. I still can't believe they won that first game against App State because ASU missed a PAT and 2 field goals and Tennessee got the game winning TD in overtime by fumbling the ball into the end zone and one their players just barely falling on it. Absolute fraud of a team. I'm so burned out on Alabama winning everything in sight but I kind of hope they win by 50 this weekend.

A mostly blah schedule (is anyone this country going to watch that Illinois-Rutgers game? Blegh), but there are going to be some good ones.

I do think Alabama will beat Tennessee, but it's in Knoxville, and Tennessee has played them surprisingly close the last few years. Don't be surprised if Tennessee is in a position to win it in the fourth quarter. This could be the one game Saban drops this year.

My eyes will be glued, however, to the OSU-Wiscy game. I do not expect Wisconsin to win, especially if Biegel isn't back, but stranger things have happened.

Wisconsin will need to win that game as they've won every other game this year. Shut down the run game, force a few turnovers, and give their offense a short field to work with. They won't be able to consistently go the length of the field. Not against OSU's defense.

If Wisconsin is forced to play shootout, then that game is already over. If their defense plays lights out and neutralizes the run game, or at least slows it down, then they've got a shot. Barrett isn't a world beater in the passing game.

At least it's at Camp Randall.

The test of whether we have a legitimate chance to win that game. UW will likely lose and for the same reason I'd pick against us today - offense. Osu has a damn good defense and our offense is uninspiring vs anyone with a pulse. Even if they stmble and fumble into 10 points I don't think UW can match. Yet, if their defense can shut down the osu offense I'll feel a lot better. I'm going to guess osu wins big in Madison, 39 - 3.

as it doesn't need to be done. UW defense has fared well against pro-style offenses and I don't believe they will against osu. We'll see. The one thing I feel like I "know" is that UW isn't getting into the endzone enough for it to matter. If UW holds them under 14 I'll feel better and I don't think they do. Could I be wrong? Sure. We'll see. Yet, nothing you've seen this year should indicate this to be but a game that plays into osu's favor. In fact, because of what UW likes to do defensively it would go against stats and matchup predicton if they made it a game.

I look at every game from the perspective of what most benefits Michigan, so here is my rooting interest for the weekend:

Iowa vs. Purdue:  Root for Iowa to win big, since we play them later this season.  Every little bit of SOS helps.

Illinois vs. Rutgers:  Who gives a crap.  We play both of them, and they both suck.  Root for the cameras to go down so that the nation is spared from having to watch this game.

Bama vs. Tenn:  I am rooting for Tenn.  Bama is ahead of us, so a win jumps us up a spot.  I want to be a highly ranked as possible heading into OSU.  If it is a 1-2 situation, and we lose an overtime game by 1-2 points, the optimist in me still believes we would have a shot at the playoffs.  But that would require a lot of teams to have losses, including Bama.  So go Tenn (who at least already has a loss).

Nebraska vs. Indiana:  This is a tough one, but we play Indiana, and not Nebraska, so I will root for them for the SOS.  That said, I do want to see Nebraska get good to balance out the West side of our conference.

Northwestern vs. Sparty:  Screw SOS - all the bad things should happen to Sparty.  I want their spirits broken by the time we march into the shithole stadium.

Stanford vs. ND:  To Hell with ND.  I want to pad our lead over them as the winningest program of all time.  Also, Harbaugh coached at Stanford and we are getting McCaffrey's little brother, so go Stanford.

Wisconsin vs. the great evil down south:  Go Badgers.  If OSU loses, it is at least possible that they enter our game with two losses (the other possibility being Nebraska), giving us a lock for the BT Championship Game.  I am not remotely saying that this is likely, but it is at least possible.

This week is a rare time where all three of our rivals have a decent possibility of losing. IMO this has the potential to be a great weekend other than us not kicking another teams ass

but since OSU and Bama won playoff games on their way to a championship there are 2 Football Championshiip Subdivisions so I label the second tier D2 for division two.  I guess im the crazy one but it sure seems to make a lot more sense to me.

Wisconsin's offense isn't doing a damn thing against Ohio State's defense. Their only hope is some short yardage situations (either via turnovers or a good special teams play). So I'll pick Wisconsin to lose, but I'm mostly interested in seeing how Wisconsin's defense performs against OSU's offense.

Why did you skip a bunch of good matchups?

Both of those noon games are terrible.

NC State vs. Clemson and WVU @ Texas Tech are both way better...

UNC @ Miami and USC @ Arizona are intriguing, IMO...a lot more than N'Western @ MSU, there is no reason to watch that game until midway through the 4th quarter if MSU is losing.

No Temple @ UCF?! Okay, I'm kidding on that one.

My takes -

  • Bye weeks suck :(
  • Bama is going to steamroll the Volunteers.
  • OSU beats Wisconsin comfortably.
  • Phony  #10 Nebraska loses in Bloomington.
  • All the other B10 matchups are absolutely atrocious.

Really only see 2 there worth watching - AL/TN and OH/WI On top of that, neither Alabma nor Ohio have to win to make the playoff, and the other two are all but eliminated. This is what sucks about the conference champ or bust format - cross division and OOC games matter very little for unbeaten teams. The games they do have to win are vs A&M and vs UM respectively Seems like a bye week for football in general
