I’m watching online, so I may be behind... BUT GOD HELP ME IF YOU FUCKING JINX US!
Go Blue ?
November 29th, 2020 at 8:19 PM ^
Don't jinx us, you wanker.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:22 PM ^
The lead grew after I posted this, reverse jinx worked.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
He is the best of times, definitely not the worst of times
November 29th, 2020 at 8:21 PM ^
Seconded on the wanker accusation.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:22 PM ^
Survive and advance
November 29th, 2020 at 8:22 PM ^
He’s the man!
November 29th, 2020 at 8:23 PM ^
HD is gonna be a heck of a Pro. Like to see him with all the incoming superstars next year and see what they can do.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:23 PM ^
Now that it's over, he was absolute ?
November 29th, 2020 at 8:25 PM ^
He’s gotta be a starter now that should be enough to push him above davis
November 29th, 2020 at 8:39 PM ^
Dickinson totally McNamara’d Davis with that performance.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:52 PM ^
Conditioning was pretty much the only question for keeping Dickinson out at the beginning of the game. His 25 very effective minutes tonight should dispel that worry.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:25 PM ^
Hell of a one man show. This team played one of the stupidest games I've seen in a long time. Decision making and shot selection besides Dickinson was freaking terrible. Juwan did not coach a good game at all either. Livers and Brown especially disappointing in decision making for seniors.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:29 PM ^
I thought Livers did make some foolish TO's in the first half, but down the stretch and in OT he did a lot of good things. Ended up with 22 points, 3 assists and 4 blocks.
Chaundree Brown needs to stop shooting, he was 2-14 today, 1-10 from three. That surely didn;t help
November 29th, 2020 at 8:55 PM ^
It wasn’t just the poor shooting itself that was the problem, but shooting with 9-21 seconds left on the shot clock. Twice with under 5 minutes left in the second half he missed a 3 when Michigan was up 2 and there were still 20 seconds left on the shot clock. And then you had that out-of-control lay-up with 58 seconds left when Michigan still had 25 seconds left on the shot clock.
November 30th, 2020 at 7:01 AM ^
I don't disagree with any of this. His offense was just not there.
But to add one positive, he made a nice play late in the 2nd, when he saved the ball going OOB and fired a bounce pass to the top of the key, which got fed inside for an easy basket at a time when UM really needed it.
His offense might have been ice cold, but you've gotta appreciate the hustle.
November 30th, 2020 at 7:37 AM ^
And from what I remember he had a fantastic block near the end of the game as well. One positive is their defensive intensity really seemed to pick up tremendously once the game seemed reach concerning/threatening levels. They were finally forcing a lot more turnovers and bad shots. Hunter Dickinson was a big part of that, but Chaundee Brown really stepped it up as well.
And just like we can't look at the Bowling Green as evidence of how these guys will perform offensively the rest of the year, neither can we do the same from this game. Guys calling for Brown to never shoot the ball again should also be doing the same for Wagner after this game, but we all know that there is no way Wagner continues to shoot this poorly.
Just an off game all around but I think we are better off going through this game. They happen every year in college basketball. Just one of those games.
November 30th, 2020 at 8:02 AM ^
Not to sound negative,, but on that play he was clearly trying to hit the Oakland player with the ball but missed and it just happened to end up in a teammates hands.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:28 PM ^
I really have no idea what happens at Michigan practices that result in the starters. How is Davis starting?
November 29th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
The only thing I can imagine about that is letting HD ease into the college game and maybe giving the Sr the start as a nod to tenure.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:47 PM ^
Id hope not because that will result in losses eventually. He of all people should know you don't play the upper class because they are older, you play the more talented one. This battle isn't even close. Id argue more for Johns cutting into HD's minutes as a change of pace then Davis.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
davis' 5 fouls will have some use against that sasquatch at iowa. but ya, he should only get token minutes going forward.
November 30th, 2020 at 11:13 AM ^
Crypto joke incoming.
Austin Davis has been tokenized.
Which blockchain is he on?
What's the circulation of AD coin.
/back to work
November 30th, 2020 at 5:30 PM ^
Didn't Michael Talley start the first few games before the Fab Five started as a unit?
November 29th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
That is what he's doing. Dickinson will be the starter by B1G season. He's already playing the starters minutes, just giving the ceremonial start to Davis as Hunter gets more acclimated to the college game. Also helps Hunter keep from picking up early, cheap fouls.
It's the same thing Steve Fisher did with Juwan when he was a player here.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:13 PM ^
Hunter IS acclimated to the game. That was a pressure cooker game he just played in where we were close to losing to an awful team and he single handily won the game for us. The Davis as a starter experiment should be over after tonight.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:40 PM ^
Any game now Hunter will be the starter. Big Country can be a solid backup. I'm in no position to tell Juwan what to do, but I hope he gets Hunter a few non-conference starts before the Big Ten slate.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:45 PM ^
Seniority. HD will be starting within the next 3-5 games.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
Well Davis did have the first 6 of 9 points. He was playing really well at the start.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:28 PM ^
Hunter had a helluva game.
Really saved the day for Michigan
The game was positively Dickinsian
November 29th, 2020 at 10:19 PM ^
Dickinsonian*
November 29th, 2020 at 8:30 PM ^
Dickinson just looks like he belongs out there, and after watching some guys the past few years who were just a disaster at it, how nice is it to see a 7 footer march to the stripe and knock down his free throws.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:30 PM ^
Yeah Davis shouldn’t see the court unless Johns and Dickinson both are in foul trouble.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:33 PM ^
To the contrary; study that game tape intensely and fix whatever it was that led to so many turnovers.
Dickinson is legit though. A 7-footer who can work the post, find the open man, and shoot free throws? LIKE.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:57 PM ^
Agreed and agreed. Also love his touch around the rim and he really is a tremendous passer from the high post. He's going to be a good one here for the two years we'll probably get to have him and hoping he doesn't play his way out of a sophomore season.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:31 PM ^
I mean why can’t we have some talented players stick around a year or so later. Garza is a beast and he is a junior or senior. He was already a beast last year and kind of the year before that. Point is we’ll see what happens with Dickinson though definitely rooting for his huge success wherever he is playing.
November 30th, 2020 at 1:20 AM ^
I think he will stick around three or four. The NBA isn't looking for starting centers like him anymore unless they can hit threes.
November 30th, 2020 at 9:08 AM ^
Free throw stroke suggests he can develop that.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:34 PM ^
With his 5 assists so far this year, Hunter has now passed Davis on the career assist leader board at Michigan.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:44 PM ^
Dickinson, Livers, Franz, Brown and Smith i still feel is our best lineup. If Franz can start scoring, that's a good defensive and offensive lineup. Williams deserves more run and so does Johns. Brooks would be good coming in off the bench. Davis needs spot minutes, especially against these smaller teams where we can get away with it more. Gotta continue to let Zeb play for experience. The one area where he's really disappointed is the lateral defense, he gets beat and then grabs.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:47 PM ^
William 7 pts 4 reb and 2 assists was nice spark too . Great offensive rebounder . 39 bench points tonight
November 29th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
Au contraire, monsieur. Save the tape and view it ad infinitum. Negative reinforcement for the asinine turnover shitshow during the first half and positive reinforcement for the OT defense.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:56 PM ^
And a child shall lead them. A really big friggin’ child.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:58 PM ^
needs to work on a right handed jump hook. then he will be even tougher to defend, even against bigger opponents.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Agree. Future opponents will scout him and force him right more.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:27 PM ^
HD and Williams II look to have vibe out there too.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:45 PM ^
Not playing like a frosh. Way to go. Some good first year players.
November 29th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
A 7footer who wants the ball and goes to the rim hard( isn't soft) doing fadaways! And can shoot free throws! Awesome!!!!
November 29th, 2020 at 10:44 PM ^
Big fella with hands, nice touch and vision is gonna be a dog for us. Next game will be his first start of many.
November 29th, 2020 at 10:52 PM ^
More. Fucking. Cowbell.
