Way OT: MGoPuppy Name
Need help from the community here on this one. I found a great dog from a shelter that I will be adopting tomorrow. I am trying to think of Michigan themed names and so far all I have come up with that seem sensible are... He's a yellow lab mix
Henne
Harmon
Maize
Woodson
any help from the board on this would be great thanks!
Name your dog "Hail" and enjoy spending the next decade and change shouting the words to the fight song out your backyard door and your kids yelling "Hail" around the house.
Hail! Hail!
is Maize and she's awesome. A great one I heard for female dogs (doesn't apply here, but general dog name thread info) is "Dezy" short for Desmond Howard.
Be careful with "Bo". It can be tough training your dog the difference between "Bo" and "No"! and you don't want the dog to correlate it's name to a negative.
And because who doesn't love a good dog picture:
That's Maize. She gave me a hell of a scare about 2 months ago when she got really sick, thus the stomach/leg shaving. I do have good news though as she's almost off the meds. Her 3rd birthday will be celebrated in style in a couple weeks.
I always dreamed of getting two dogs at once and naming them Desmond & Elvis. A man can dream, right? Anyway, I love "Dezy". BTW, great photo of Maize (another great name). Godspeed on her recovery.
"Wangler" and "Carter" would work too. Could always teach wangler to give and carter to fetch.
Thanks for the kind wishes, she's back to normal weight/behavior/everything. The question at this point is how quickly she can be weaned off the drugs.
This is a really big coincidence, but I am pretty sure we've met once or twice at dog parks in the Lansing area because I recognize your dog and the name Maize. I have a Siberian Husky named Deszy.
That's us. We moved to Chicago about a year ago, so that's why we haven't been around. And your Deszy is the name I was referring to above, very creative.
I hate seeing dogs shaved like that. It makes me pity them, I feel so bad that they can't do anything about whatever sort of discomfort they're in. Hope your pup is doing great
She's doing much better. The good news is when she got sick she knew it, and had no problem going into the hospital (she usually has some real seperation anxiety) and letting them work on her. She got a couple blood transfusions and after recovering the last 2 months she's just about back to normal. Her blood levels have actually been normal for weeks, they just don't want to wean her off the drugs too quickly and have her relapse. Thanks for the concern. I'm hoping she'll be off the drugs and can spend the 4th of July at the dog beach for her 3rd birthday.
I sense a new NASA re-branding campaign with this dude as the centerpiece. Priceless.
Is this on Youtube? Link? Can't seem to find it.
Biakabutuka.
And call it Tshimanga for short.
Kovacs.
Taco Pants. He can go by Taco
We Go. That way he gets you beer everytime you call his name.
That's my dog! Although people usually guess "and the Jets" over "Oosterbaan".
Not that this helps you with your decision, but my dog's name is "The Dude." We got him a week after Bo's passing, so of course "Bo" was a close second, but we decided against it as it just seemed like too obvious of a choice.

See if Braylon can stop you.
Name him after me! Kevbo! Yea!!
for your first son, Hailey Victoria for a girl.
As for a dog, I like "Des" or "Red". Of course, he's a yellow lab, so that may not work.
But not after Welborn; it's because he was always underfoot as a puppy.
Then real Michigan fans will know you are truly committed to Mgofandom.
In honnor of our future QB. Pee-Wee would also be a good name.
my cat's name is Jackson. I'd say he's most like a tiger, but stealthier. he's got some similarities to a jaguar, except his power & climbing skills are even more promising. he reminds me a little bit of the lions at the zoo, but he really commands even more respect with his majesty & charisma.
Make sure that when you do beat your dog, "Section 1", that it's with a FREEP newspaper...so that it really stings.
Too bad McGuffie transferred. That's a cool dog name.
Scruff McGuffie...
So naturally, when we adopted a kitten this past weekend, we named him Fitzgerald Toussaint (Last name redacted). Now we have Ella and Fitzgerald, with a Michigan twist!
/cool story bro'd
I'm no CPA, but I do systems support for a company that creates accounting software, and I have to hear and deal with the term "...because of Sarbanes-Oxley..." waaaaay too much.
JMFJ.
Name him Stevie. In honor of Stevie Brown. It perfect for a shelter dog. Unwanted and unloved until he finds the right home and then all of sudden everything clicks and he's loved and respected.
But seriously, thanks for adopting and not buying from a store.*
* not intended to start a flame war debating the merits of adopting vs. buying at store, though there's really no debate in my opinion.**
** OK, that last part was more flame-y. Seriously, people, adopt.***
*** I'm just sayin'.
