Caris LaVert no longer looks like a stick figure representation of gumby. That's a positive.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||No, this is fine||
It's been too long since we've had Muppets. Too long since we've been able to unite as a group in something joyful. Too long since there's been nothing to cheer about!
And while yes we are reveling in the demise of another, it's all in good fun. Also, I’m positive there’s a German word for this, but it’s not quite coming to mind…
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Consensus||
So we're all agreed Smith for president! Right?
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Why?||
For the love of all that's good and holy is there a reason why we calls plays designed specifcally NOT to get a 1st down? Is this just the game where we are are going to rely on D to give us the win? 3 points is enough right?
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Defense SHOULD be great||
I'm not concerned what our defense is going to do. We have Mattison and talent. With their powers combined we SHOULD be fine. This SHOULD be a comfortable win, and yet... I find my self making plans for how I will spend the rest of the weekend if the unthinkable were to happen.

is Patterny a thing? Pattern-eriffic? Either way the young man's statement speaks volumes about him. I'm happy he'll be representing Michigan.
|36 weeks 6 days ago||Our we really thinking he'll stay?||
Is anyone here really under the impression that this is going to be a tough choice for the young man? I'd love to see him platy another here, but I have absolutely no belief that this will happen. He should find out how high a lottery pick he's going to be, hire an agent, and get paid. Reporting that he's going to the NBA is essentially the same as saying fire is hot, water is wet, and the sun made it's traditional daily appearance.

Until a few things are confirmed or painfully obviously denied about this team I refuse to even begin to hope that this will be a good year for the old Depression Ball squad. I am however, overjoyed about our super happy fun ball team taking the court again.

While the writing style is a bit dense, the overall theme is an interesting and refreshing perspective from a student athlete. It certianly makes me proud that Michigan is producing students that are capable of this type of reflection.
Now all that being said I can only reflect on all the Zen Master posts recently and think damn I just assumed there was hyberbole, and man I was way off.

Enjoy each and every moment. Join some organizations. Become absolutely passionate about something that really doesn't matter (other than football). Try and study some. Most of all recognize that you've got four years to have an absolutely amazing time, and ENJOY!
|45 weeks 9 hours ago||Robinson man...||
It got to the point about 5 minutes into the second half that I was literally screaming just pull him and put Irvin in! I know that will change once those shots start going down for Robinson, but man it's hard to watch the guy with the ball on offense. Your bigger and more athletic than most anyone who will be covering you just take it to the damn hole! it belongs in the hole! PUT IT IN THE HOLE!!!!
Irvin on the other hand is fun to watch play. He seems more confident every time he steps out on the floor and is flashing some drive to the basket that while kind of comical and awkward now will be impressive and unstoppable later.
|48 weeks 11 hours ago||shooting percentage is all||
This team has the ability to reach another final four. Of course that could be said about probably 3 teams in the B1G. We're going to live and die by our shooting percentage though. If the current numbers are sustainable over the long term then we're golden. This is of course factoring in the one inexplicable game where NOTHING goes in ever. If however we're not able to hit those gorgeous two point jumpers that Stauskas, GRIII, and Levert were just nailing against Wisconsin at a 60% clip we're in trouble.

My one and only care about whether or not Brandon forced this to happen is whether or not Hoke and Nussmeier will work well toghether. Regardless it was a business decision that was made for the benefit of the football program. It's tough to make those decisions especially becase coach Borges seems to be a well resprect and well liked guy. The nature of the time between hiring and firing was such a short period of time that it seems likely that Nussmeier was recruited and on board before the firing occured. If that's the case you had to think that Hoke was very aware of what was going to transpire, and at least tacitly condoned this.
|50 weeks 9 hours ago||level 35 and it's all downhill||
I've played a number of different playthroughs on skyrim and found the game to be mostly a very enjoyable experience. Especially once my wife decide that skyrim was cool and wanted to start her own character. I've found it to be a mostly enjoyable experience that I can lose a couple hours to each week.
The game isn't without it's flaws though. Primarily, the games fundemental flaw comes down to character leveling. At about level 35 there are no challenging things to be done in skyrim. The highest level dungeon dwellers are put down effeciently with a few hacks with a weapon or a couple spells. Fighting dragons turns into hitting it with weapons and spells and then sucking down a couple healing potions every time the damn thing flies away because in the brief time it's on the ground it can't damage you enough to matter. Also you'll never run out of healing potions because there is essentially very little else you'll really want to spend your massive piles of gold on.
Overall the game gives you too much in the way of resources and does not have sinks that take away those resources at a pace that makes for any reasonable challenge. You get way too much gold, jewels, and loot every time you enter a dungeon area. There's then nothing of value exepct for the rare home or healing potions to buy and hell you'll find in a mid size dungeon probably a 5-7 healing potions of various strength any way. The same game decisions apply to crafting materials, and enchanting materials. You'll find so many of these items that it essentially makes leveling either of those skills a grind to see how fast you can smith 30 daggers at which point you can turn around sell those daggers and have more gold. They also took away degredation of armor and weapons which was a mechanic that constantly allowed players to improve important skills but also siphoned away at least a bit of the vast amounts of wealth you could accumulate.
I found that exploration of skyrim, it's hidden areas and quests to be the most satisfying aspect of the game because it ignores these broken mechanics and does provide some great hours of gameplay. If Bethesda makes another Elder Scrolls game I hope they take a hard look at the mechanics of levling. All that said I'll still pre order the game and probably enjoy myself immensly.

Hey it could have been Gardner.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Might be OK||
I bet we botch at least two exchanges with one of those being a turnover. I'm also guessing that we fail at blitz pickups at least twice. That being said I'm guessing our running game is nominally better to the tune of 140ish yards from running backs on the day. If there was ever a time to try to change the line though, this is the game to do it. Minnesota looks doubleplus ungood and we've had two weeks to get this straightened out.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Blame the Media||
If you take a look at violent crime statistics http://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=pbdetail&iid=2221 It's pretty clear that we as a society really are moving forward. The issue is that death and destruction sell ads for media. People go to CNN more when there's a mass shooting in Chicago or bombers in Boston then they do when there's a report released that says; hey just FYI things are getting better. At some point confirmation bias takes over and things look pretty bleak. Thankfully, it's entirely inaccurate to say there's more violent crime today than say 30 years ago. I can't imagine it helps this kids parents with what they're going through, but we're heading the right direction.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||Maybe I Missed Something||
I'll wait till the UFR comes out, but I thought that Funchess was blocking decently when he found someone. I think the issue is that he's not finding the right guy, or in some cases a guy at all. I don't know that putting him into a slot solves that issue in any particular way. If you ask him to block on a run he'll either find a guy and handle him or not, and assuming not now your still looking at an unblocked linebacker (probably) or a nickel coming up to make a stop in run D. I guess it's mildly better than him facing a defensive end, but position switch in midseason seems kind of like a recipe to fail.

Won't are Epic Recruiting (tm) make this all a non factor at some point. I mean regardless of how the defense schemes to stop us won't are superior athletes at some point just run over the opposition. I can see it now our blockers smash everything the touch 3 yards downfield. Even on the worst play we'll just follow behind some monsterous tackle until the surge can take us no further. We'll complain that we can't run for more than 3 yards on first down, but won't that be nice!

Hart as the all time leading rusher for UM is a pretty darn favorable comparison. Our best case scenario here isn't one or the other emerging as in the Hart - Martin era it's having Green and Smith as slightly different but interchangable parts like Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. That kind of tandem behind the moster offensive line we should have in place in another year... well let's just hoep for the best for both Green and Smith. I think each can find a place on this squad.

If you're driving up make sure to bring some ponchos (can be purchased in and around the stadium, but yeah cost will be up there) Afternoon storms are a thing in Michigan that time of year.
Things to do: you can swing by Stucci's for Ice cream for the family.
Or grab some food at Dominick's (try the sangria)
you could hang out in the diag and people watch. I wonder if the "are-you-interested-in-socialism-lady" is still there...

You clicked the link. It did its job. I don't have a lot of concern that hits like JC's will lead to ejections. It was a good football play within the rules and in the spirit of the game. He tackled just how every coach had taught him to since he was... well less massive, but he was probably never small. It was all kinds of terrible looking and I still cringe when the replay comes on, but that's sometimes part of football.

This was hilarious and even though its Peoples Court you have made my day sir. Reputation was explained to me this way when I started practicing: it takes a lifetime to build it and a second to detroy it. Once it's gone it doesn't come back. you are what your reputation says you are. Good Luck.
