Glasgow was the linchpin to the DL last year, was a consistently excellent run stopper and developed some pass rush from the interior before getting injured. I love Mone's potential, but it's not at all unreasonable to believe Glasgow will start over him again.

His letter captured how agonizing a decision like this must be on a person who is still a very young man. I could imagine him being on bended knees every night asking for clarity about such an important matter. Wishing him the best.

I was thinking of Riemersma too. Is there any aggregate evidence that position switchers do worse or better at their new positions than those who play at spots for which they were recruited?

When I see the term "micro-cuts", I think about sophomore and junior year Fitz Toussaint and his running style, which was fun to watch.

Definitely saw Perry and B. Cole.

For me, the tough part about watching the above vine is that Perry is running the same route he was supposed to run on the first interception (on the opposite sideline). He's doing what he's supposed to and attending to a previous error. The ball is delivered to his inside and this allows the route to get easily jumped. An odd thing, but of the 3 intercepted Perry targets, throw #1 and route #3 go together, and throw #3 and route #1 go together.

Agree. Missed a few holes to his left (I counted 3) but turned -3 into 1 at least 3 times as well.

We did host ND that year, so I guess that counts for something.

I'm just as impressed with Richardson's (seemingly) proactive honesty in talking about his ACL situation to the coaches as I am with his toughness in dealing with it during camp. That quality alone might suggest a bright future for him.

We should get a '95 Woodson level of play from Peppers (with 2 INTs against OSU, please), and a '96 Woodson would be fantastic. It's probably going to take him a year before he can achieve '97 Woodson impact level.

Upvoted, but do you think Lewis will be tested enough for 7 INTs?
|25 weeks 2 days ago||Agree about Lewis. I'd bet||
Agree about Lewis. I'd bet that teams will stop testing him deep by mid-season, and his interceptions will come from a few panicballs. I'd also bet that Lyons (assuming he's the other corner) will be tested early and often, and thus will have higher tackle and INT numbers.

Alum96, thanks for these previews. Here's a thought: given Utah's difficulty containing spread option, do you think we could see Gentry or Morris tested out on a few spread looks early, and, if they are picking up chunks of yards, stick with them unless and until they get stopped? That would be in line with what I understand to be JH's philosophy.

I would love for Peppers to show some flashes of great play this year and create a high floor for himself, but if history is any indication, his year to truly shine will be next year. He has played less than 2 full games. Just my opinion, but I think Jourdan Lewis is the only other Michigan player who merits a top 100 mention.

|2 years 5 weeks ago||I know you've had a colorful||
I know you've had a colorful commenting history, but I very much agree. Peppers will likely take some knocks in coverage and be very good by the end of the year or in 2015 by learning from his mistakes. He's also not the most important new player. That honor belongs to Hurst or Mone.
|2 years 6 weeks ago||Though it is true that Irvin||
Though it is true that Irvin is "Just a Shooter" right now, one of the other (and I think more important) reasons why he won't be called "Not Just a Shooter" when his stat line is a little fuller is because he came in with a reputation for being a complete scorer who was going to have Hardaway skills on both ends of the floor, whereas Stauskas' main expectation was that he'd make his living on his long-distance shooting. When Irvin becomes Not Just a Shooter, he will be living up to expectations, whereas when Stauskas is "Not Just a Shooter" he's surpassing expectations.
|2 years 6 weeks ago||My favorite plays are often||
My favorite plays are often those where, say, Jeremy Gallon makes a "cerebral" or "heads-up" play or a "gritty" block, or when Jake Ryan uses his "natural abilities" to track down a mobile QB, because of the way they subvert the stereotypes.

Taylor became a pretty sure tackler, especially by the end of the year, and outside of maybe playing off too far off the ball (which may have been what he was instructed to do) looked solid in coverage even while getting picked on. Peppers appears to be an exceptional athlete, but he will take his knocks early as all freshman DBs do (even Woodson did). I'm still holding out some hope for Delano Hill, who made a couple of heads-up plays early on with special teams, to get some looks there.

I'd say LeVert, Spike, Stauskas. I've rarely seen GR3 do many things in the clutch.
