Josh Henschke confirms that Jack Tuttle will get another year of College Football eligibility. How do we feel about the QB position now?

Confirming Jack Tuttle had his waiver approved by the NCAA. Run it back.

This is great news!

He's tall, 6'4" and athletic with decent experience. Between Tuttle and Orji and Davis and Denegal, we should be okay at QB.

Just lean on the run game and pass enough to keep defenses honest and with our defense,we will be a stout and tough team to beat.

Saying that Bowman was "not good" at OK St is not a fair assessment.  No, he didn't set the world on fire, but he did lead his team to the Big 12 Championship Game and a bowl win over Texas A&M.  He also threw for ~3500 yds with 15 TDs and 14 Ints.

Like I said, not a world beater but certainly better than "not good"!

It's all relative.

Bowman was a decent transfer backup QB for us, but I'm glad he wasn't our starter.  So no, I'm not proclaiming Bowman is good (by Michigan standards).

By the time he transferred, though, his improvement was enough to put him in the mix at Okie St, where he eventually won the starting job.

And speaking of relatives, my niece's husband and older son are big football fans in general and they're both OSU Cowboys (the son is a freshman there) and they're happy having Bowman back for another season.

But the context here is praising one of Michigan’s backup QBs for being ahead of Bowman on the depth chart because Bowman was a starter on a ranked team last year. But that doesn’t look at Bowman’s individual abilities, which aren’t very good.

He was a below average QB last year by any metric you choose. Talking about a guy possibly starting here because he was ahead of a well below average QB on the depth chart a few years ago isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement, which is what I’m getting at. Oklahoma State fans being happy they’re getting an experienced QB back even though he’s below average for no reason other than he’s the best option they have isn’t really relevant.

Bowman isn’t good simply because he was on a good team last year. Comparing Warren to Bowman because of their depth chart status two years ago seems weird enough as is, but moreso without looking at the context of how good Bowman actually is.

I will posit that if any of the 4 non-freshman QBs transfer it would be Denegal - or perhaps Davis Warren if he believes his health gives him a legitimate chance to play.

After Spring of course. They're ALL the starter now, including Jadyn Davis.

But a QB rotation headed by Tuttle, with liberal usage of Orji packages, and ample snaps for Davis when the opportunity arises is my prediction for 2024.

My hope is Davis has seized the starting job by November, but the schedule may just be too tough to afford him may reps 🤷‍♂️

The spring game performance by all these QB's will be extremely important because it will create a buzz amongst the fan base that will have a huge impact on starts the season at QB.

Jadyn Davis is the answer but how soon?

I know he's only a tfrosh but he's played a ton of football at a decent level and he dominated. He also arrived before the bowl games started lived on campus while participating in all the pre-bowl practices which is huge. He got high praise front JH for how athletic gifted he is, his processing, and how fast he takes coaching incorporating it into his game.

I think he's going to look polished during the spring game... we'll go from there.

As much as I’d love to see Orji channel his inner Brady. I think Denegal is the guy. He didn’t have many opportunities, but when he did he showed total confidence in his arm. I remember the one pass he threw (maybe the only one) was an absolute missile, and had me doing a double take as to who threw it. Maybe not the most Mobil guy in the world, but neither was Haskins as he surgically dismantled us.
