This will be the thread for your snowflakes and hot takes on the overall coaching performance against Bowling Green.

True to to an extent.

I know the clock rules play into this, but only running 43 plays is more than a bit underwhelming.

It blew my mind last year when Indiana stayed with UM for a couple quarters but insisted on snapping the ball with 30 seconds to go on the playclock.

When you’re the better team, more plays=advantageous. When you’re not, fewer plays=advantageous.

Tonight was a light show accompanied by a preseason game. If we see 43 plays in B1G play, I’ll be much more critical of the coaching. But fewer plays is going to hurt Michigan this year more than it’ll help.

I almost never put stock into anything that goes on in coach interviews or press conferences, but during that halftime interview as the teams were heading into the tunnel it sure seemed like Moore was flustered. Everyone's got a plan til they get punched in the mouth. The first drive was great, second drive was going well, but once JJ threw that first pick in the end zone the whole team looked off.

That's where a head coach comes in. Get the team to settle and relax and get back to doing what they do well.

Who is this Sherrone Moore person?  I didn't see any coaches in the game except the guy in the big orange poncho and the horrendous haircut.  Out of about 30 minutes of non-commercial air time, I counted 25 minutes of Scott Loefler prowling the sidelines in his traffic cone muumuu and his SuperCuts buzz.  Also, love him as a player, but Jake Butt is butt as a color guy.  What a terrible broadcast.

Dunno if it was Sherrone or just the team sleepwalking through a game that was supposed to be a laugher, but the whole thing felt off tonight. Felt like we were gonna roll to a rout and then JJ threw the 1st pick and it was just bizarro world after that

Unless the head coach gets like a magic wand he's supposed to wave at the right times and not at the wrong times, yes, this doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm guessing (and only guessing) that HC's job in this game roughly boils down to decide whether to kick or go for it on 4tth down.

Agreed. It doesn't feel like these three games really prepared them for anything or developed much. The best two DBs basically didn't play at all, the offense was efficient (but boring) and Harbaugh wasn't even there.

It feels like it's a total unknown if they are actually prepared to play a real game (which I think Rutgers may be).

Maybe the team needs to refocus a bit on the week-to-week. It's good to have high expectations, but games like these make things like the Beat Georgia drill look like a distraction. Tonight was a good reminder that any game can be an L if you don't prepare and execute well. Excited to get Harbaugh back and excited to see how this team responds.

When you say "coach" in the first sentence who are you referring to?

Jim Harbaugh was there to coach during the week. So are you blaming Harbaugh for supposedly not having "the team ready to go" against BGSU?

Btw, I thought the team looked ready to play. We were up 7-0 and dominating. We were about to go up 14-0 when Hibner led his defender to the interception.

After that, things got weird.

I still post here and the content has been better since Michigan started beating OSU (we actually get a UFR for that game) but the "rules" and forum makeup discourages conversation. Posters will gang up on others for the littlest issue. The owner and mods break their own rules (Politics). They have also banned posters who created conversation (WolverineDevotee). I could go on but these are just a few reasons why participation is down.

Discord is a better place to discuss the game in real time.

Need to find a better balance between putting things on film you don’t need to in a blowout win and actually letting your backups play.

And that goes for both sides of the ball. This seemed more a preseason game than anything else.

That was a bog-standard 2022 Michigan Game (TM):

Fuck around for an entire half, remember how to play football at halftime, pull away late.

“Dominating an inferior opponent” needs to show up on the scoreboard before Q4.
