So close - edit out "in offense" and you're there.
|21 weeks 6 days ago||Too little too late||
They may have passed this law after seeing what a distracted/raging/inebriated (wasn't clear what was really the problem at time of accident) drove through a group of cyclists and killed a number of them earlier this year.
But I'm sure the cyclists deserved it for having the gall to put themselves in harms way in public like that.
|21 weeks 6 days ago||Highly subjective||
I also live and work in Chicago and this is just so wrong - objectively. Not to say your impression of your personal safety isn't true for you, but I suggest spending 30 minutes on a bike in Chicago and see if maybe your calculation of the ratio of kamikaze cyclists-to-inattentive drivers doesn't come out differently. Yes, cyclists blow through intersections - very bad. But a simple news search will show precious few "pedestrian killed by cyclist" stories, but near daily stories of "cyclist killed by car" stories.
Plus, just the simple vast outnumbering of drivers versus cyclists would make your premise very unlikely.

|1 year 2 weeks ago||Yep - this is not really "OT"||
I was going to comment this thread technically didn't need to be OT, as Maurice had actually directed the MMB back in the 80's. I was going to confirm to Yo_Blue's post as well, but it was the 80s not 70s (unless he was there more than once). I was in the band then and it was definitely a very cool experience that he seemed to really enjoy.

That's what we used to say about Hoke.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||What about Sr on the official visits?||
I'm more curious about the experience of have TWSr going on the visits to other schools with TWJr. That could be an interesting dynamic and a fun way to get an inside look at how other schools are recruiting one of UM's top targets.
|2 years 8 weeks ago||One last Best and Worst - thanks!||
I suppose your "contract" with MGoBlog may have included a thirteenth B&W and without a bowl game, well, this is the content most available, but glad to see another in your series.
So thanks for such an entertaining run-down. I don't quite get the Gregg Henson nerve you've touched in some folks, but that seems more indicative of the level of discourse now found on the board here, so thanks for taking the time away from your wife to raise the quality average here. Well done.
|2 years 15 weeks ago||Agree||
Because it would involve a receiver entering an endzone.
|2 years 15 weeks ago||Seconded||
I logged in to mention these two as well. For Temperance I can at least vouch that one of my pals and a UM alum is an investor, so there are worse ways to spend your beer money.
Also, if you're looking to pick up some fried food on the way to the golf course or parking lots around the stadium and are traveling light, I highly suggest the Chicken Shack for some incredible fried chicken. There's extremely limited seating and near-zero dining ambiance, but for grabbing some food to go, it can hardly be beat. Not far away is Hecky's BBQ, but I don't frequent that place though many love it.

You do realize that we've already lost 5 games by double digits this year, don't you? Which is Hoke's fourth year on the job. I'm not really sure whose argument you're making now.
|2 years 16 weeks ago||Wisconsin||
RR did fluke out a stunning win over Wisconsin. And RR's team never watched the Brown Jug head to Minneapolis.
|2 years 16 weeks ago||Not the same sort of pay cut||
The Arizona salary was 50% higher than the UM offer of $265,000 and that AZ salary was a cut only by dint of the WV counter-offer that Casteel did reject to move to AZ. So, there are pay cuts and then there are pay cuts, I guess.
|2 years 19 weeks ago||Ugh||
Those uniforms are just awful. PSU gave a clinic in those photos as to what a tradition looks like. Would have done the program's image a great deal of good to have Michigan's actual uniform displayed "under the lights".
Just proves to me that Brandon doesn't actually understand "branding" but just "marketing", which are not synonymous.
But overall, am glad we aren't the worst team in the Big 10, which is sad to have to consciously feel good about.

Good god people, what a bunch of wet blankets.

I'm sure this would be a welcome commitment to the development folks at UM. All it takes is for someone here on this board to make it happen. You can probably request a list of naming opportunities, find out what donation level it takes to secure one, then when you have that much money you can turn it over and have them name it whatever the hell you want (as long as it meets their donor recognition standards).
Complaining about it but not showing up with the cash is, as they say, cheap. The reason those folks have their names on the facilities is because they actually wrote the dang check.
Last year everyone here was falling over themselves about Stephen Ross's gift to the athletic department. He of the Stephen M. Ross School of Business...
Endowing chairs, positions, even coach's jobs is not a new thing people. It's a way for people to give money to support an institution they love and have a good idea how the money is being used. And then the university can spend elsewhere the money they would have spent on that thing. Win/win.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||Sure, hypothetically||
But since this trade would have to come down to trusting Buckeyes on their end of the bargain, I think I'll just go back to wanting to win both of those games.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||Do it||
A third kid brings glorious pandemonium - and really separates the parental wheat from the chaff.
Naming is up to you and any birthing partners.
|3 years 12 weeks ago||And I would also take the band off that list||
I would venture to say our band has gone as soft as well. Still good, but no longer great or in the running for "greatest."
|3 years 12 weeks ago||Trendlines vs relative values||
I think I agree that more likely than not, most teams would see their trendlines heading slightly south over the season. As much for the typically soft early season schedules as for anything related to opponents better understanding play tendencies or everyone generally getting into the meat of their schedule late in the season. (Northwestern and Wisconsin played OSU fairly early in their B10 seasons, for instance.)
What's most striking to me about these three seasons isn't so much that the 2013 season has a steeper negative slope (though that's not good either), but that the 2013 season is the only one whose trendline results in sub-average territory (by a lot). It doesn't seem unusual that teams would have a variety of issues depressing offensive output late into the season, but for Michigan to end up so far below the average of it's opponents' outputs (if I'm understanding these values/charts correctly), that's a big issue for me. 2011 looks to be about average (ending around 100%); 2012 a bit better at about 105%; but 2013 is horrid at around 70%).
I'm sure using trendlines as an averaging of our offensive output isn't so scientific, but the graph is telling of (something bad), nonetheless.
|3 years 19 weeks ago||I'm not as clear on when||
but thought it was in one of the OTs. What I do recall is how jarring it was to see that play out of nowhere - I was so (all-too-momentarily) relieved to see us pull it out and thought we were now playing to win. But I think the next play was a run back into the teeth.
|3 years 19 weeks ago||Yeah, maybe our coaches should watch more college teams play||
Instead of watching NFL ones - it's definitely not helping.
|3 years 19 weeks ago||I think we can stop with discussion of National Championships||
The team isn't likely competitive for division championships on the current trajectory.
|3 years 19 weeks ago||Heiko's question||
Apparently unanswered amidst all the hullabaloo. But seriously, what does the fox say?
|3 years 22 weeks ago||It's been a long week||
but someone needs to explain to me the irony in that. That actually seems to be an example of consistency. I think it'd be more ironic to have had the people on the board that mock Dantonio to have cheered the skywriting and Brandon, but I might be getting to old to actually understand irony any more.

Did you (Mr. Smith) ever complete the shipping of the shirts from the Kickstarter? I've been looking out for two to come my way but nothing in the mail as yet...
|3 years 30 weeks ago||The visitor count is going to skyrocket for this site||
if I have to view the site twice to make sure I get all the content - once on a laptop to view the photos and charts that don't render on my mobile and then again to view the mobile-only stuff like Vine etc. It's weird, the internet these days.

Might provide him the time to collect himself both athletically and academically. Lots of students need to take a term or more off to refocus for success.
