We Need To Talk About Michigan Football: Excellent video on Michigan by Alabama Youtuber

Submitted by dickdastardly on January 7th, 2024 at 9:17 AM

MattBeGreat, a CFB football youtuber with 311,000 subscribers and an  ardent Alabama fan gives props to Michigan fans (now his #1 Fanbase) and even more praise to the team and program. Worth 10 minutes of your time on this Sunday before Michigan attempts to bring the CFP National Championship Trophy home to Ann Arbor tomorrow night. Go Blue!

I don't understand why this was posted. I couldn't get past the first few minutes of him rambling and showing game clips from some random high school game that's not even referenced. Were those highlights from someone on Michigan's team? On Alabama's?  WTF?

Is dickdastardly actually mattthegreat or whomever it was that made that craptastic video?

I can only blame myself, I guess, for clicking on this link.  In my defense, I'm just hungering for more MgoContent leading into tomorrow's game.

So you didn't watch anything.  You missed the fair use warning - explaining why there is no game video.  You missed the notice that the video shown was JJ McCarthy's high school Huddle highlights tape - because of the fair use warning.  And you didn't bother to listen to anything else in it because you didn't pay any attention to it.

But here you are, complaining about it being being terrible when you don't know anything about it.

Take your negs like a man, you're going to get a lot of them...

Hey, I'm fine with the negs.  I saw the fair use warning but guess I missed the part about it being some of JJ's random HS exploits.  They weren't put in context and I stand by my complaint that the ramblings of any random Bama fan don't mean much at this point, particularly when his primary evidence of the graciousness (than you) of UM fans were a few tweets from other random fans.

But please, neg away!

How many times have we seen this scenario play out in movies or TV.

- bully terrorizes neighborhood

- hero of story comes along and righteously pounds bully.

- bully becomes hero’s lapdog.

Don’t bet the house on it lasting past next week.

What he doesn’t share is that Michigan fans can be good winners on the major social media platforms because they first go to The Score and gloat for 3-4 mins. Maybe that’s just me…

Mattbegreat has shown love to us all season. He has even given OSU the nickname “lil’ bro” now due to our dominance over them now(he isn’t aware we have that name reserved for another school). He actually posts pretty good cfb content for anyone who wants to watch and his rants on Ryan Day are classic!

Thanks for the kind words, Matt. No hate (obviously) but here are my quibbles:

  • I love that you call Ohio State lil bro, but they're not family. They're just the obnoxious next door neighbor pooping in coolers in their front yard.
  • I get the whole "it's all for naught" if we don't beat Washington. And boy were we going to have do deal with some narratives if we didn't win the Rose Bowl. And yes, I really, really want this win on Monday. But I don't feel the team is diminished or a failure regardless of the outcome. A close loss to Bama would not have made me feel like everything was a failure. Clearly each win in the CFP elevates them, though.
  • I think it's kind of funny you on the one hand say "Why would anyone have ever picked Ohio State to win" and then say "Bama should have been favored by 1.5 points." Methinks your homerism is showing there, which is fine, but OSU gave us every bit the game Alabama did, and honestly more. It was not crazy to think OSU could win that game. And the prevailing wisdom that Alabama would beat Michigan was based on nothing but "stars matter" which is no different than OSU! But anyway, that just made me chuckle.

Fastest Drawl in the south. Leading up to this he had a lot of fun all year at our expense but since Ohio he has been giving respect. Snark veiling sincere analysis and a lucid review. Or maybe he, like many, is just getting around to listening to Joel Klatt.

This was a fair and solid review. I sat on the Alabama side at the game. It could not have been any more civil. Everyone was cool to everyone around my section. I've had more nonsense in a Michigan section at Michigan.

I'd have a beer with this guy any day.

His sentiment about Michigan fans is sort of how I feel about Alabama fans. The grace and maturity with which they've accepted their defeat was borderline shocking. We're so used to a certain elite football program immediately trying to invalidate the result that it was eye opening.

Maybe the hated programs have to stick together or something, but I legit like them now! Pretty classy fan base, and some of them really do know their stuff.

To be honest, I stopped listening to him after decoding-gate.. Now, he does have an extreme bias for Alabama historically. He did call out that Michigan should be great team but change stances quickly before and during decoding-gate. He more or less followed the media's propaganda about Michigan (after reporting about initial conversation and did not buy it)..

At the end, he could have changed his tone now but his content seem bias after decoding-gate and was never positive to Michigan during decoding-gate.  Even after how many games we won (including Alabama), does it end his point about decoding-gate being a sham? I didn't hear it... This is why his comment is hollow since he did not change his stance on the topic..

Do not click the links but I am just showing what I am mean historically with Matt.. Yes, I watched them all historically and then stopped because of his non-sense..  Negged all you want but I hate people who argue one way and go the other way... I do not mind redemption but he did not change his point about decoding gate (still) and why I stopped listening to him..

Jim Harbaugh and Michigan got Caught lol (He stated it was laughable and thought that this is not abnormal and strategic)...

The Michigan Situation Just Went to a Whole New Level... (Different situation with Connor Stallion and is the fall guy.. He argued how he is making $55k and fund all the trips argument and think knowing the signal is a huge advantage..)

The Michigan Situation is Continuing to Get WORSE (addressed the private PI part and that should be seriously considered in how they got the information)

New Unbelievable Details Emerge on The Michigan/Connor Stalions Situation (argued and believed Connor Stallion helped South Carolina beating Tennessee and that Connor is preparing for the worst; this is where he started to believe in decoding-gate)

The Michigan/Connor Stalions Situation Just Got Even CRAZIER (Contract issue, Ball Boy signal stealing, Connor Stallion at CM football game where he does seem some are laughable)

New Groundbreaking Information is Coming Out About Michigan and Connor Stalions (Called this as entertainment and how the recruits all lined up to Connor paid for their unofficial visits with unnamed sources from recruits and brought up Connor's side business)

You Won’t Believe what Connor Stalions was Doing Behind the Scenes… (Confirmed unofficial visit is not paid by college and then admits how Alabama "pay" their recruits (like car loans from Saban's dealership and Ryan Walter's accusation)

The Michigan Manifesto Just Took the WILDEST Turn Yet (PI might be connected to Ryan Day)

Yeah... Jim Harbaugh is Cooked (JH getting suspended)

The Michigan Situation SOMEHOW Got CRAZIER (talking about Blake being in some LLC with Connor)

Jim Harbaugh Has Completely Lost His Mind (Crazy that JH called Michigan the American's team and Americans do not like cheaters.. This is referencing Michigan as a cheating team)

The Michigan Manifesto Just Got REALLY INTERESTING (Matt thinks decoding-gate was not a big deal and changed his stance after all the info that came out true or not)

So THIS is Who was Paying for Michigan/Connor Stalions?! (CP getting fired and Uncle T)

Michigan's "Uncle T" Just REVEALED The Truth (Uncle T discussion and his "involvement")

This is the "act like you've been there" attitude that a fan has when they know their team is good, is going to be good for the foreseeable future, and just got outplayed today. They've gotten to see the Tide get how many NCs in the past decade or be within striking distance of one? So they naturally say "Hey, good one, getcha next time" instead of melting down like babies.
