| 7 weeks 3 days ago | I was also a freshman during |
I was also a freshman during the 1993 Final Four and watched the Kentucky and UNC games at Crisler. To this day, those are two of the best sporting events I ever attended -- even though I was just watching the events on a ginormous TV. It was great to be surrounded by so many fans who were so passionately into the games (even more so than some of the regular season games actually played at Crisler). The Kentucky win was 1000 times better having shared it with all the Maize and Blue Faithful, and the UNC loss was somehow much more tolerable because we all shared in the disappointment; it was like group therapy. I'm too far away to join in this time, but everyone who can should. |

Kordell put the ball in the right vicinity (unlike Devin and the Roundtree catch), and it was the actual game winner (same comment), but maybe, just maybe, that tip was karmic payback for Chuck Winters setting up that jump ball for Michael Westbrook. Damn, that still hurts. |
| 27 weeks 4 days ago | Almost exactly the same |
I had never left a game early, but I was burnt to a crisp and feeling pretty dehydrated (not enough Absopure), and Michigan had never overcome that large of a 4th quarter deficit. The worst part is that I convinced my then-girlfriend and best friend to leave with me. Pretty sure they both still hate me for that. (To a poster above, I skipped that 5-0 Purdue game because I was sick as a dog and convinced I would get pneumonia if I went. Only game I missed in 4 years, but I think I made the right call that time.) |
| 30 weeks 3 days ago | Borges vs. DeBord |
Brian, serious question: In your e-pinion, how does Borges compare to DeBord in terms of predictability? The criticisms you level at Borges seem to be very similar to your criticisms of DeBord (though it's hard for me to believe that anyone can be as predictable as DeBord). |

You must not have watched much professional wrestling in the 1980s, from which I learned that Polynesians have the hardest heads and the hardest feet in the world. Their feet were so hard, in fact, that a barefoot kick from a Polynesian was infinitely more devastating than a kick from a shod white guy. Also, Polynesians may excel at jumping off the top rope. Therefore, we should expect that Houma will play with no helmet and no shoes (take that Denard!), and may or may not specialize in going over the top on the goal line. |

Michigan might not be moving to NJ, but NJ pretty much moves to Michigan every fall. |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | I am an alumnus who goes to |
I am an alumnus who goes to one game a year. One year we went to the Packard Pub and the waitresses were all half naked and pretty good looking; we thought it was a pretty good bar. The next year we went back expecting the same, but it was totally different; the waitresses were not good looking and pretty inattentive to boot, even though the place was dead.

| 1 year 19 weeks ago | Hero |
My hero growing up--my grandfather--went to Michigan (BBA and MBA) after his discharge from the Army Air Corps as a Lt. Col. after WW2. If the greatest man I ever knew went to Michigan, then there was no question where my loyalties would lie. He's gone now, but I taught my son, who is named after him, "The Victors" while he was in utero (it works! highly recommended). I hope he has something similar to say about me when he is asked 20 years from now how he became a Wolverine. |

"If you look back on our history, you'll notice that many, many times, we were in VaTech's position where we dominated everywhere but the scoreboard. I can think of at least a dozen off the top of my head. It's nice to be on the other end for once." I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. For example, I was at the Colorado "The Catch" game.... |

| 1 year 26 weeks ago | Whenever I read a column in |
Whenever I read a column in which Lloyd is criticized, my first reaction is to duck because I know some of the readers are going to go on a tirade. My second reaction is to say, "thank you for speaking truth." Lloyd's over-conservative, turtle approach to game calling is why I was never fully a fan. |
| 1 year 28 weeks ago | Neiman |
Doesn't Zingerman's get their corned beef from Neiman Ranch? I love Zingerman's and went there the Sunday after the Purdue game. But I also tried Frita Batidos (on this site's recommendation) right after the game. To the OP, if you want to add a new and amazing food stop to your trip, you should definitely try FB. My buddy, also a Zingerman's devotee, and I could not stop talking about the chorizo fritas and coconut cream batidos with a splash of rum that we had after the game. Also, I lived in Miami for 5 years, and this blows the Cuban restaurants I went to there out of the water. Incredible. |

"I'm telling ya, chicks love neckbeards." |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | General tenor of the RR-Lover |
General tenor of the RR-Lover accusations is that RR-Lovers hate all things not RR, which would include Hoke. Brian's need to constantly invoke "Hoke uber alles" = response to Hoke-hating charge. I didn't listen to the podcast, I was just commenting on Brian's description of it. Lloyd did deserve a lot of criticism for certain things; but criticism =/= hatred, which is what a lot of commenters seem to think. |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | Confused |
In this post you say you defended Lloyd Carr and love something Brady Hoke said. I'm confused. According to what I've learned from recent comments sections, you -- and most everyone else on this site -- is a Lloyd-Hater, a Hoke-Hater, and an unabashed RR-Lover and -Apologist. Could people's opinions actually be more complex and nuanced than the commenters suggest? So confused... |

If anyone knows more, I think it would be very interesting to hear it. IIRC, the media story was that KF turned M down, which was kind of embarrassing. |
| 1 year 30 weeks ago | Ferentz |
Brian, you have now referenced this twice (the first time in a column about Crisler!): "the president of the university will stab him if he hires Ferentz." Can you (or someone else) please explain. I thought MSC loved KF. I'm buying this book Friday, but I need to know what this means now! |

"We have had to just outscore the opponent to win games." Pretty sure that's how we've always won games. But I know what you mean. |
| 1 year 38 weeks ago | Seriously? |
The Appy State rematch has now been a topic on EDSBS, Doc Saturday, etc. They universally think it's a bad idea. Doesn't that suggest that maybe Brian isn't being a whiner and kinda sorta, I don't know, has a point? What has happened to this place....? (P.S. I do have issues when it comes to Michigan football, and I acknowledge them.) |
| 1 year 38 weeks ago | So frustrating |
1. The level of discourse here has really gone downhill. In the first thread about this rematch, MGoShoe, who used to be pretty good, called everyone complaining about this game pussies. I guess EDSBS, Doc Saturday, et al. -- you know, the really good bloggers who aren't affiliated with U of M -- are pussies, too. That's sarcasm. Neutral observers think this is dumb, too. It's reasonable to be against this game. It doesn't mean you are a pussy. 2. The Horror messed me up. I slept fitfully for a month afterwards. "Hot Hot Hot" kept running through my head. SEC and Miami fans (I was living in Miami) brought it up constantly. It was miserable. Why would I want there to be anything that reminded me of that? I'm not a pussy; I'm rationally interested in my mental health (insofar as someone whose mental health is affected by a game can be rational). 3. Hoke better f--king prepare for that game, unlike his predecessor. (No ad hominem attacks just because I wasn't a Lloyd fan. I felt something like the Horror was bound to happen because of Lloyd's philosophies. He had a lot of good qualities, but his bad ones led to the Horror.) |

I have agreed 100% with what you have written the last few days re: Lloyd & RR, and now you took the thoughts right out of my head re: the Heisman pose. (No /s) |
| 2 years 1 day ago | Grammar nazis pay attention |
A couple months ago, I got involved in an MGoBoard discussion about whether the word that follows "than" is an object or a subject. Behold: "The rush line of Chicago was very evidently too strong for the Ann Arbor men, and Peters was as large and more tricky than he." All of you who think this should be "him" should take note. (I am also of the "Michigander," not the "Michiganian," camp, another reason to like this article. Not to mention the sudden outbreak of violence.) |
| 2 years 1 week ago | I thought it was a really |
I thought it was a really good, fair article. But I'm kind of surprised you liked it. I could be misremembering some of your other posts, but I did not think you were the type who would say that most Michigan fans would agree with an article that criticized Coach Carr in the slightest. |

| 2 years 2 weeks ago | MSU |
I remember when Traylor committed to Michigan and my MSU friend rationalized that this was actually a good thing for MSU because he would only stay at U of M for 2 years, then go pro. I then had to explain to my MSU friend that 2>0, so it was not a good thing for MSU. It's hard to understand the mental processes of MSU fans. |
