Michigan ESPN Video
Video feature on Michigan on ESPN. Dhani Jones, Adam Rittenberg and others partake. Drew Sharp basically says that we are no longer a Championship program and that we will be content with 9-3 seasons from now on. I for one, will NEVER be content with 9-3 every season. I see us as being an elite program with 3 bad years thrown in there. Surprised to see Det News writer Sharp throw those comments around. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I don't think I'll read his material the same way knowing that he is so at odds with what I believe our Team is and what it can be.

What I have learned is that Drew Sharp is extremely negative in his articles, even against MSU sometimes.
I wouldn't get too beat up about one idiot journalist saying something ignorant against Michigan.
I didn't even realize he was still around vomitting his M hate, but there he was. I understand not everybody is going to love M. I can see why ESPN would call him up and say come on our show and be our counterpoint to Mr. Jones.
sharp had a rough childhood. spewing hate is his own form of therapy.
The pulldown flap of his childhood jammies weren't for going to the potty. More of a quick access for his dad to.... Well, I'll stop there.
You're sick, you need help.

yet thought child rape jokes would be appreciated?
Mods, why is this guy's account not erased from the database? This kind of talk should not be tolerated. Unbelievable.
Take it to tRCMB.
Sharp screws Beagles
I did not know I was capable of hating Drew Sharp even more than I already do.
My girlfriend had a beagle and it's got to be the dumbest sack of bricks ever..
You do realize that 9-3 is actually a really good season, right? Alabama, one year after winning the National Title went 9-3. If 9-3 is your baseline, then you'll have the occasional 4 or 5 loss down year, and the occasional 1 or 0 loss season where you challenge for a National Title. College football has such short seasons and such a high turnover rate in terms of talent that expecting to go better than 9-3 as a baseline is just silly.
Edit: Not that I'm defending Sharp. He's still a jerk.
9-3 this year would make me so happy I would cry.
9-3 is not gonna get us to the rose bowl. Hell it probably won't even get us in the B1G championship game
9-3 is crap and we shouldn't even try to get to 9-3, Crap!
-Chet
No it would not but I also would shed tears of happiness if we went 9-3 this year.
Fuck Drew Sharp. MICHIGAN seems to have hurt his Butthole and he has never gotten over it. I would love to see MICHIGAN win the Big Ten and a BCS bowl nd just get right in his face and say, "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO BLUE!!
Your right, I didn't really care if Michigan would win any of that stuff. But now that that asshole said that I really want us to win.
He works for a "news" organization that sets such a low bar for the quality of writing, "reporting", etc. that he's forgotten what it's like to try to be the best. Will I be content with 9-3 this year? Sure, but that's just because it's a new coach's first year. Beyond that, I expect to compete for B1G and national championships year in and year out.
Wonder where else Drew's attitude comes from?
I love this clip because you can tell Hoke is just holding back.
Also Drew Sharp is the mayor of idiotville.
Drew Sharp is a moron, how do you not understand that, can't get to a NC without a CC. Win a CC get a shot at an NC, very easy concept to grasp. Hoke 1 Sharp 0.
he is speaking to the players and to the former players
i.e. take care of what you can take care of
you control your own destiny to win the big 10 championship
you can go undefeated and not play in the national championship game
the press conference was not so much for the fans as it was for the players
that being said, Hoke could have answered the question a little better, explaining how you can't control what BCS game you play in...but sharp was looking for a story instead of just reporting what he saw
Edit: Ignore my dumb question...I deleted it.
Yes, the UM football team, the team that has more wins than anyone in D1, will be content with no more championships ever. That makes sense right? Seriously, where do they find these "journalists"?
On the one hand they hired someone who basically made up a story to get national attention and a better job...on the other hand they are suing for records that hopefully contain more dirt
Yea fuck Sharp...I don't how he is even a writer of the Detroit News hoein Michigan like that. He can eat a dick.
Are you counting Carr's 13th season as a good year? You liked being humiliated by Appalachian State and Oregon in 2007? Michigan has not been an elite program since Gary Moeller's recruits left campus after the 1997 season.
Speed wins national championships. Not predicitble manball.
I've been going to Michigan games since 1973. It was a sad day when we had to stoop to hire a guy with exactly 3 winning seasons out of 8 as our head coach. Elite? Get over yourself.
I disagree. During my time at Michigan (2003-2007) we would be ranked 3rd preseason year after year, won the Big Ten Championship 3 times if I remember correctly and played in the Rose Bowl multiple times as well (that we didn't win in the Rose Bowl is another thing). Needless to say we were still in the conversation as a National Championship contender. And yes, we beat Tim Tebow's Florida team that last Carr year.
When Michigan played top teams ... we lost.
Was that Tebow's freshman or sophomore year? We had the #1 pick in the NFL draft (Long) and the Miami Dolphins starting quarterback (Henne) but we lost to a Division 2 school at home, were blown out by Oregon at home, lost for the 5th time in Carr's final 6 years to Ohio State, etc.
I love Michigan. But the arrogance of our fan base is tiresome. I hope Brady Hoke isn't as bad as his track record suggests. But I will not be satisifed with 8-4 / 9-3.
"Was that Tebow's freshman or sophomore year? "
FWIW...
Tebow was a major contributor in his freshman year (including being the teams second leading rusher). He enrolled early and many expected him to start ahead of Leak as a true freshman after his performance in the spring game.
But yeah, it was his sophmore season that Michigan beat Florida/Tebow... The year he won the Heisman.
2007 was disappointing in many ways, but was out of our control. Carr actually did a good job of holding the team together after that start and overcoming the injuries. If you have so much trouble with Carr's legacy (which I'm sure the jab about Moeller's recruits was about) why are you still here? The jab is a moronic statement on it's own, since Carr had been with the program since 1980 and was the DC under Moeller and probably had something to do with recruiting those guys.
I've been a fan since 1969, so you can save your old fan card for someone else.
3 B10 Championship 2003-2007 = No.
2003, 2004. Maybe you are thinking of 2006 when we went to the Rose Bowl but were not B10 Champs.
Michigan felt elite to me as recently as 2000, with some teases in 2003 and 2006.
Your post is a little harsh and you aren't putting Hoke's record in context, but I totally agree with the premise that Michigan football has been disappointing for longer than three years and a lot of pride has been lost since 2001. That we have had to witness four consecutive senior classes exit without a single win over Ohio State is disgraceful.
Speed wins Championships? Are you for real? Is this RR posting? Give me a break.
SEC is speed. SEC wins championships. Therefore, speed wins championships.

Get over it, and as far as 'manball' is concerned I am of the opinion that football is a tough guy game and punching your opponent repeatedly in the face is a good thing. It preys on their mind.
Duh-duh-drew Sh-sh-sh-sh-arp recently admitted to writing a column on a baseball game that he did not watch until the sixth inning, doing no research on what he missed in the first five innings even though he reported on it without disclosing that he didn't see it.
That's solid work right there.
Drew Sharp is a Michigan alum who was probably trying to be unbiased early on in his career but at this point he just hates everyone and everything and wants to be hated. Don't let him bother you, that's exactly why he says the things he does.
As for the person who says Michigan is no longer elite, you are a fool. Sure, in the short term, no - we have not been elite. 2006? I'd say we were elite. Alabama and Auburn haven't really been the most elite teams in the past decade, but they are for now. Things change quick. And then you want to knock Brady Hoke? Michigan didn't "stoop" for him. Michigan is an elite program and we needed the right guy here to make it work, because we learned the hard way what happens when the wrong guy is here. Manball? You clearly mold your opinions only from what you read on this site, and the offense hasn't played a down yet so you can't speak for it. You are like that guy who was screaming at Gene Chizik at the airport. Get over YOUR self. Going to games since 1973 and still can't spell predictable.
please file this and get me a cup of coffee, sweetheart.
BOOM he called you a girl! Whatcha gonna do 'bout that?!
-Chet
Please go fuck yourself, sparty.
9-3 and 10-2 were the types of seasons we had under Carr and everything was pretty good then. I'm perfectly fine with 9-3 as a baseline with the chance at a NC every few years in between. That's pretty much UofM circa 1997-2000
"9-3 and 10-2 were the types of seasons we had under Carr and everything was pretty good then."
I wish more people had agreed with this statement when Carr was our coach. It absolutely disgusted me to hear people complain about him when he held a National Title, many conference titles, and routinely had us in the upper echelons of college football. Sadly, those same folks are out again, saying that 9-3 won't be good enough for Hoke.
9-3 is not good enough! Big Blue should be in the running for a national championship EVERY year, just like my dynasty in NCAA.
-Chet
I think everyone will agree that 9-3 and 10-2 seasons are "pretty good". But this is Michigan and we should be aiming for better than "pretty good".
What I'm pointing out, though, is that consistent 9-3 seasons are *not* simply "pretty good." That is the highest level you can expect to hit consistently in college football. Yes, you can have abberations that go up to 11-1 or 12-0, but even the absolute top coaches & programs in the game do not have the ability to do that every year. I just have this horror of Hoke getting us regularly to 9-3, and then idiots coming along as saying "This is Michigan, dammit!" and calling for his head. College sports have a ridiculously high turnover rate in terms of talent (duh), and so being the New England Patriots is not an option, because you can't keep Tom Brady around for 10 years.
How many teams win 10 or 11 games a season year after year (don't say Boise because they have one of the easiest schedules year in and year out). It's tough to do. Let's face it, 9-3 and 10-2 seasons are great years if you can continually throw your hat in the ring for a BCS Bowl Game. I agree with the post about Alabama above, it's tough to keep winning 11 games a year, you're going to go through rough patches where 9-3/8-4 is going to happen. Ask Les Miles. When you win a NC it creates more juniors opportunities to leave early due to increase exposure and you have to keep restocking the cupboard with talent, which thus far I think we can all agree Hoke and Co have done a hell of a job.
It's okay, Drew.
We just can't wait for your mea culpa column next year.
We'll even let you put hot sauce on all that crow that you're going to have to eat.

PS: Bitch.
This is the first time I hear Drew Sharp's voice, even though I do know to steer clear of anything related to Freep ever since Aug 2009.
Now, after I've heard his voice I just wanna say that Cee Lo's song name to his bipolar-twisted face!
