Sorry, I should have specified Bush. I mostly fly out of there because I live only 10 min away. I don’t have a problem with Hobby, but the security checkpoint can get quite backed up since there is only one.

I agree that Detroit has a great airport. Having lived in several metro areas around the country, I now appreciate how good it is.

Houston has to have one of the worst airports. It’s old, cramped, and has a terribly confusing and inefficient layout. The food options are also meh.

YES! This is hands down my favorite thing to read on the blog!

It was either 06 or 07 vs. MSU, and State threw that quick lateral pass out to the flat. Chris Graham leveled the guy with a head of steam the moment he caught the ball. Definition of pads poppin.

UMF grad

Majored in chemistry at UMF and went to grad school for the same at NC State. Now employed by ExxonMobil as a research chemist, so I can't really say going to UMF has really "held me back" as some would like to believe.

The business school is growing rapidly on campus. I don't personally know anyone that went through it, but the MBA program has exploded in the past several years.

This. 100% this!

No love for cookout?

Never had In-N-Out, but I like Five Guys. But having recently moved to Raleigh, I can say that Cookout is the shit. Simple, flame-broiled burgers for cheap. Mmmmmm

Proud UMF grad

I think you're generalizing a bit too much. I am a UMF grad and I claim to be an alumnus of the University of Michigan because that's what my degree says. But on my CV, Linkedin, etc. and if anyone asks, without hesitation I tell them I graduated from Flint. No, it's not the same campus or admission standards (for sure), but smart people come from everywhere. I was admitted to Ann Arbor for undergrad, but it was MUCH cheaper for me to live at home and commute to Flint.

In my field (chemistry), the ACS standardizes the curriculum for a certified degree and it's the same at every university. The same core concepts are convered and I guarantee that I could take any chem class in Ann Arbor and get all As just like I did in Flint. I'm now getting my PhD from NC State because I like the research that I'm doing here with a faculty member that's in an NSF collaboration with some of the best people in the country, including Melanie Sanford in AA. But having "Flint" on my degree didn't stop me from also being admitted to AA, Wisconsin, Washington, and UNC for grad school. Oh, I also had an NSF fellowship as an undergrad.

There are definitely people who try to "fake" going to AA, and I don't condone that at all. But your elitist attitude toward this subject is why many people view UM grads as arrogant and entitled. I'm an alumnus of the university and I do my best to represent it as well as I can. I wish everyone else could say the same. I hope my accomplishments are "polished" enough, because I'd love to climb up onto that horse with you.

That picture of Funchess is amazing. New desktop background.

Thank-you for saying what

Thank-you for saying what needed to be said. They don't give out the numbers for the benefit of the fans. It's a great honor for the players and draws attention to the great tradition at Michigan.

And for those complaining about players making their own legacy, they could always use the number from before the switch. If Gallon really does do enough to have #10 put into Legends circulation, then they can use that number. BUT, do you then honor Gallon or Tom Brady? I gurantee people wouldn't be screaming "get off my lawn" if Gallon had been awarded the #1.....

The only ads in the stadium I

The only ads in the stadium I would care about would be the ones on the video board. Stadiums that use 30% of the board for advertisements are just plain ugly. Other than that, I don't care about advertising. Vendors are all over the place peddling merchandise and services. The game program is basically just an ad book with a roster and a player profile. I don't think you'll ever see the stadium being "plastered" with ads.

Happy Canada Day!

Just got in from spending my first Canada Day in the capital. Ottawa knows how to party! Great fireworks at Parliament and some cool pubs in the Byward Market.

JUST WIN

that is all.

Question

Did LSA commit because of Shane Morris' recruiting prowess? I didn't realize it extended to the MGoBoard!!

Michigan by 1

"That's a bold move Cotton, we'll see how it plays out."

Don't read threads that don't

Don't read threads that don't interest you. Simple stuff.

Great conference preview.

Great conference preview. Lost it at  "except for penn state".  hahaha

Good thing I took advantage

Good thing I took advantage of the package deal when the season started. Can't wait to see this team in person!!

Well I can tell you this

I'm not as think as I drunk you are

here comes the neg

Magnus? :)

All Conference Lists

Can we get an All B1G list based on selections by Brian, Ace, and Heiko? I feel like it would be much more accurate and fair than the official pile of crap lists. It seems like the people selecting (even the coaches) don't know jack.

han shot first

Damn, beat me to it

I was just thinking the same

I was just thinking the same thing. The atmosphere in the Big House when he walked onto the field was my best experience there so far, bar none. Unforgettable. Way to go Brock!!!

Agreed

Good read. I find it utterly ironic that Dantonio said that line about "where's the threat" because as I recall, it was him that said "pride comes before the fall" after Hart immortalized the little brother terminology in 2007.....

so true

^ that was epic win right there. rofl

Fix

I think I've fixed the spreadsheet, judging by what people had entered into each field. All the column headings should be correct now.

I wish McDonough could call

I wish McDonough could call all our games. IMO he just has that voice you want in someone who's commentating. I can still hear "TOUCHDOWN!! GREG MATHEWS!!!" in my head every time I think of McDonough.

I'll venture a bold guess and

I'll venture a bold guess and say Marian the Librarian, because we'll badly need our secondary to perform well if the revamped DL can't get pressure by themselves.

Uh-oh, Brian put "informative

Uh-oh, Brian put "informative update" in all caps. The pressure's on, Ace!!!

I wish there was a scale on

I wish there was a scale on the side, because I'm pretty sure his arms are longer than I am tall. Wow.

along the same line, i love

along the same line, i love how he just says "Ohio". Great to see that these kids have that attitude already

Good point

While I agree the joke is harmless and not really that bad, I just wouldn't want to be a recruit that saw that type of talk on here. Not saying we we get a lot of them, but it's possible. I agree that criticism of the staff is sometimes warranted (I do it too), but not when it comes to the abilities of a player. I think in this particular scenario they've earned our trust. But how does JUB put it? UM fans are more like opera critics than football fans? ;)

come on

I really don't like that we're criticizing the recruitment of Sypniewski so much. If the staff felt he deserved a scholarship, who are we to judge? Give the kid a chance. Just throwing that out there.

whoa pal

Let's just agree on our love of all things Michigan and leave chemistry out of this. :)

Ya, but there's nothing wrong

Ya, but there's nothing wrong with Wolfe. Nolta's like the standard for orgo, but Dr. Wolfe is a cool guy (as seen in the video above).

It's a good thing we obsess

It's a good thing we obsess over football players' weights. If we did this with female athletes we might destroy some lives. haha

BEAT OHIO!! always relish the

BEAT OHIO!! always relish the opportunity to say that

I can't help but picture

I can't help but picture Coach Hoke in his office, being all Emperor Palpatine: "Gooood, everything that has transpired has done so according to my design...."

haha gopher it

I see what you did there....

why would a team do that? Is

why would a team do that? Is scheduling that much of an issue that there are only FCS teams to choose from? Seems like even playing EMU would be better than playing someone twice...

eh

When people ask about my research, they just think I'm really smart. Nerdy, but also smart. lol

really?

fellow chemists? booya

Talent is not always king:

Talent is not always king: please see The Horror. But I know it plays a big role. I know we have talent, I'm not oblivious to this. I guess I should clarify. In my head I was thinking that I'd rather have the honest hard-working players come to Michigan (and still be talented) than try to bring in all the best guys no matter what their motivations/morals are (ie TP). The SEC is in a self-sustaining cycle: they win a lot, which brings in the best players, which makes them win a lot, etc. But that's why the oversigning needs to stop. Until it does, beating them will be that much sweeter because they're giving themselves an unfair leg up.

Hell, we'd probaly have a

Hell, we'd probaly have a billion recruits if we also put coeds in our recruits' hotels before they get there (like some schools), but that's not how Michigan works. I've heard people say "UM just needs to start playing the game the way it's played today" or "We should be like Alabama, I don't care how we win national championships as long as we win them". But as our immortalized godfather of football said in his book: "It all boils down to basic honesty. Without that, you won't accomplish a single thing worthwhile." So let's beat the hell out of them this fall to show them hard work beats talent every time.

love that pic

Best moment of the game was laughing my ass off at Denard's expression as he ran onto the field at the end. He goes from "Ya we won!" to "HOLY SHIT WE JUST WON THE SUGAR BOWL!!!"

haha

After all the talk, I still wanna try this stuff.
