to play football, not to play trumpet
By looking forward to M Basketball this afternoon.
It's much easier to cope now that we are good in basketball again. In the dark ages (1998-2008) it was pretty tough.
coping by moping
Upset, confused, heartbroken :(
Depressed, watching other teams play crappy games. I can't wait for the bowl announcements so I'll have something specific to look forward to.
We had a rooting interest in just about every game for Michigan to squeak into the BCS. Nothing to do today besides wait for tomorrow.
*edit: As "awesome" as a day can be when our conference is holding it's championship game and we are not in it.
Any day that MSU loses is an awesome day for me
Watching as many of the games as I can. I like college ball more than the pro's so trying to get my fill in before it's done. Also got the M basketball team on later so there's that.
As much as I will miss the Wolverines storming to the field, watching them storm out on the court has been just as satisfying so far.
Wish the basketball game was at 12:00 instead of 4!
By watching other teams with fewer all time wins. It's inferior football. I mean there are no wings on any helmuts. How am I supposed to watch football without wings on the helmuts?
I have an uncle Helmut. True story.
and I are going Christmas shopping, and hit Rochster Mills Brewery for dinner & brews later.
Supposedly the downtown area has an impressive lights display too.
Have a GREAT weekend everyone.
The in-laws live in Rochester, and the light display is beyond impressive. You can see it from space. Your best bet is to leave the car at the brewery and walk to Main Street because the traffic is monstrous.
until we got home, but that's exactly what we did. They also had a street blocked off of main with a bunch of tent vendors, and Rochester Mills was on the end. Grabbed a couple more Cornerstone IPAs for the walk. Great times, and indeed the lights are beyond impressive. I recommend this for anyone...the lights come up at 6PM.
I was a Schalke fan long before Brian made it cool to not like them.
Step 1) Be hung over.
Step 2) Type post while hung over.
Step 3) Go back to bed til 4pm ET.
Step 4) Drink more beer to get rid of hangover.
Well if you wouldn't have stopped drinking, you wouldn't be hungover.
And you forgot profit.
started exercising - WHY CAN"T MICHIGAN FOOTBALL BE EVERY SATURDAY?
I'll be in Peoria for the game!
So, it will play in Peoria. Good to know.
Thanks a lot, M football
BB has made up for it
I'm not as think as I drunk you are
Championship game, waiting for the wife and to scoot off to a birthday party, and drinking while preparing the last of the Thanksgiving turkey leftovers on a jambalaya mix.
Turkey chili simmering here.
It was okay, but the meat tasted like it had gone stale, even though I froze it on Friday. Definitely tasted rotten on Tuesday when I had it for lunch. Think that the toxins produced by the bacteria were in full effect.
...I use andouille sausage for this when I'm REALLY serious about making it, but with Thanksgiving being within the week, you make considerations.
Having said that, turkey is A LOT more bland than andouille...which means I need to compensate. So I added two tablespoons of Mrs. Renfro's ghost pepper salsa in addition to the normal spice/hot suace regimen.
Yeah, I've been drinking.
Still haven't fully emotionally recovered.
It won't hit me until I see Nebraska take the field against Wisconsin. Then for the next 3 hours, I will not be able to turn off that jilted-lover voice in my head that keeps saying "It should have been us. It should have been us. It should have been us."
This is the same voice that kept saying "We should have used Denard with Devin more. We should have used Denard with Devin more. We should have used Denard with Devin more." for 3 straight days after the Ohio State game.
*Sigh* What could have been. It's just like some astute observers were predicting at the start of the season . . . we'll have a better team in 2012 than 2011, but we'll have a worse record.
I am not going to go so far as to say I am not upset that football season is (basically) over, but I have come up with some positives:
- Less of an excuse to destroy my body with alcohol on a weekly basis.
- Easier to get homework/work work done.
... I give up; this sucks!
Watching soccer and going to my students' 6th grade basketball game. Should be a good Saturday.
Depressed. Because the Capitol One Bowl will be the last game until I go to college to play, so I will miss most of the games.
Sad day, man. :(
sigh.....denard, go out of bounds. you do that, you don't get injured, you stay in the game, and the outcome would likely be a win. hence, big ten title. hence, rose bowl.
I've had Makers Mark, Knobb Creek, Bulleit and of course Jim Beam and Jack...Wasn't too crazy bout Bulleit though. I have yet to try Woodford Reserve though...but every review i've read said nothing but good things so I know I won't be disappointed. Lately i've been drinking Buffalo Trace, next on the list is Russell's Reserve. Bookers is also another on my list.
Woodford is my favorite. It's a little more expensive than the Beams, Makers, Knob Creeks, but I think you can taste that difference. Even better I think it's better than a lot of higher end bourbons, such a Bulleit, Blantons, etc. For my money, Woodford is the best value you can get in a bourbon. Recommended.
Reading the Game of Thrones books
I wonder if delaying the games by one week helps game the ranking system...
might as well stretch out the schedule an extra week.
are not even a little bit funny.
Still laying in bed, because there is no point of living life anymore. Man I hate having no Michigan football.
Saw that yesterday. Not buyin' it.
11W had a small post on it (I follow some ohio fans on twitter) but I'd have to agree.
Sooners footbaw and napping.
I'm "coping" by remembering that life does not begin and end with football and I don't have to treat the end of the season like someone just died. Haven't done that since I was five.
I'm at "The Christmas Tree Store" shopping for decorations...I hate the end of football season.
Strangely enough, out of habit, I looked at the schedule on the refrigerator when I got up this morning, then it struck me finally.
Actually, as it has been a mild day, I finally put up the rest of the Christmas lights and brought up the Christmas tree so that the kids can help decorate it later. As I haven't quite 100% recovered, I had difficulties putting up the red strands of lights, although I did double-staple them out of misplaced frustration. That being said, for the first Saturday since the last one in August, I've been productive around the house.
Also, there is some beer involved in the coping, as always, and in a couple hours, of course, there is Michigan hoops. After that, what I will call "stree-free football viewing".
On a happy note, the Festivus pole was brought out the other night to kickstart our holiday festivities here...
And catching up with errands.
and then MICHIGAN basketball of course!!
At the mall with the wife & 2 year old. Any mgohitmen out there? I'd love for someone to put me out of my misery. Just make it look like an accident. You know, insurance & all...
Loose alligator escaped from the zoo in the changing room at Macy's--OR--tragic escalator mishap?
At least with the 2 year old, it probably won't turn into a 4 or 6 hour marathon. And if it does, tell your wife you need to go pick up something for her, and you'll take the 2 year old with you. In my experience, spending time with a 2 year old is far preferable to shopping with a woman.
I was bored so I decided to try the cinnamon challenge:
Oh how I wish that GIF had audio...
Cracking up harder each time!! Plus 10 to you. That is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
My kids and I keep watching...tears of laughter streaming!
So much alcohol. Stupid chemistry textbook....
Cleaning up the last of the oak leaves, fixing the water damage in the basement ceiling caused by a leaky toilet above, digging out Christmas decorations, and distracting myself until we find out our bowl opponent tomorrow. Hoping the big recruiting week end two weeks from now generates some early Christmas presents, too.
Stool sample from my daughter. She's been a bit under the weather. When all that's done hopefully ill get a chance to settle down and watch some football.
Some people collect stamps, some people collect coins ...
Just got off my roof putting up Christmas lights, will ring Salvation Army bells, will get my son new glasses at Wal-Mart (although no, I'm not a "Walverine")
"Christmas lights" not "holiday lights" I hate it that people are so PC and don't say merry Christmas anymore! Maybe Home Depot some Bed Bath and Beyond not sure if we will have enough time
i hate it that no one says "happy kwanzaa."
M Basketball at 4, Hockey at 7.
I don't have to watch Al Borges try to run power football plays that haven't worked all year.
Deep sea fishing always makes it go easier
Studying, working on a group project, hopefully catching the basketball game, then more studying until I pass out around 3 or 4 this morning.
Are you going to teach him the powers of the BanHammer? Or get him bulked up for our 2031 class?
Beautiful. Congrats and enjoy.
a great pic!
Brought up a lot of memories of when my son was that age.
Of my kids (twins) at that age...i was too sleep deprived. But actually the pic does give me a little trigger of some sort of memory. It was gone in a flash...hope you thoroughly enjoy it BiSB
I waited most of the year for the season to start and now it is just about over! I was hoping to see Michigan play Wisconsin this evening but at least we stayed in the race through the season. Now I'm interested to see who we will play in one of the FL New Years Day bowl games! I'm happy to see the team heading in the right direction.
pondering if we could recruit a 6'6" QB to pick up short yardage like the Belldozer instead of mis-using 5'7" scat backs on a cold, gray day in Columbus when we needed just 30 minutes of good football to pulverize those evil vermin and make everything right in the world.
Coping fine. Thanks for asking.
Wife took the 3 youngins to grandmas! Icing my balls. Watching a sons of anarchy marathon. Blue basketball in 45. Football after that, then maybe a little its always sunny to end the day!
Starving though. Im the only fucker I know who is constantly hungry when sick/after a surgical procedure!
Oh yeah, its like 65 here in Denver today, so this really sucks balls being couped up inside!
suck balls ... ;)
I kid, I kid! Your post cracked me up, heal and get well soon!
Go Blue ...balls! ;)
haven't left the house. haven't showered. but, it's also cold out, so...
Would be a perfect day for football in the BIg House though.
Dogs walked. I got a good run in. Daughter and I actually thrived a huge Costco trip. Now enjoying a Launitas "Little Sumpin".
Since it was my son's first flag game it was nice not having to TiVo the game and or miss a Michigan game all together. It also probably made the wife much happier in general.
I'm forced to interact with my kids now. Damn you Al Borges!!!!
This sixer of Sculpin IPA shall help me endure.
Lamenting having to watch teams in red uniforms all day.
Went to go see a musical (jackl and hyde) which was kind of awesome. Went to get some Korean food, also kind of awesome. Going home to get some work done, not so awesome. All in all I'm surviving.
My balls really hurt!!!
Terrified that we might have to play Johnny Manziel. He scares the bejeezus outta me.
It was actually a bit of a relief. No stress, I slept in until 2 PM (which never happens during football season cuz I'm on the west coast).
Went and did Tough Mudder down here in Tampa. It was awesome!
#1 Dave Whiteford, Greg Willner jersey.
