Sam Webb "Gut Feeling" On Jordan Anthony and a Najee Harris Confidence Booster

Submitted by ColeIsCorky on

I posted some potential rumors with Najee Harris regading a potential commitment date set for today on another thread that I discovered was completely false after doing further digging once more information was out there, so here's me attempting to make up for it.

This may have been brought up before, but on WTKA this morning Sam Webb gave his "gut feeling" on Jordan Anthony committing to Michigan tomorrow. Unless something goes really wrong, he's choosing Michigan tomorrow. I believe I heard Sam mention it one other time before, but I don't recall reading much more about it on mgoblog. Hopefully this is news to most of your ears.

On Najee Harris...

This morning, Sam Webb went into further detail on him and made this statement.

"If you just listened to what folks inside Michigan circles are saying, you'd be popping champagne bottles already." Another statement says they are "really confident" with a major emphasis on "really."

He discussed how he hasn't made a full assessment on whether or not he will commit to Michigan because he has not heard anything from Najee's own personal circle, but that should pretty much tell you how confident the staff and fellow recruits are that Najee will be committing to Michigan.

I listened to the podcast this afternoon, or I would have posted this sooner. I haven't seen anything mentioned on the board yet regarding these comments.

I'll leave it at that.

Link to the podcast: Well worth the whole listen.

Happy Holidays, friends.

How does that work for early enrollees? Did he have to apply and be accepted? Did he have to write meaningless essays about what he believes in and his plans for the future like I did in the fall of my senior year of high school or does he just say I'm enrolling and the athletic department handles everything?

if you title it OT - Safe Space, you will get the following responses:

1.  "I know this is OT, but it does not belong on a sports blog, and I clicked on this thread just to tell you that."

2.  "Please edit the title to elaborate more on the spaces you are talking about...I thought this was about receivers getting space from corners so it was safe to throw to them."

"If you just listen from the Michigan side of things...."

Well, ya. I mean, I'm confident that young women find me a funny and attractive middle aged man. But that's only looking at it from MY side of things.

One more comment. I think this basically sums up how Sam comes up with his "gut feelings."

He wouldn't make a call at all on Najee but specified, again, that he hasn't heard a word on Najee's circle. He mentions in the podcast that he will make a call once he's heard word on that side of things.

A gut feeling must essentially be confirmation from both the recruit's side saying "he's coming to Michigan" and the coaching staff confirming he's committing. If both of those two are understood, then his "gut" speaks. Just a thought that I figured might help when people are wondering what exactly leads to a "gut feeling."

I need a new hobby.

that you've posted on MGoBlog before under a different MGoUsername? I'm not saying that you're wrong about any of the information in your OP (as I hope what you posted is 100% spot-on), but you seem to be unusually prolific for someone who has only been on the MGoBoard for less than a week. And your posting style seems extremely familiar.

Notice the part about where he said you get that confident feeling if you listen to only Michigan people. What is Bama saying? I have to imagine that he's made a decision, at least in his head. I'd be surprised if he hasn't.

I listened to the podcast this morning and I didn't think that Sam was really leaning one way or the other. When he said that comment about popping bottles in Michigan circles, he meant that people supporting Michigan in general, and not the staff per se, think he is coming to Ann Arbor. Bama circles probably think the same thing as carolina blue pointed out. Sam did say that it should be a Michigan/Bama battle and if Tosh Lupoi does end up going to Cal that can only be a good thing for Michigan, though then it may open up Cal as a possible destination as that is close to family and a place he has visited in the past.
