Penn State has three more in transfer portal
Joining WR Juwan Johnson in the transfer portal are S Lamont Wade, CB Zachariah McPhearson and WR Brandon Polk.
Of the new trio, Wade is the notable one as a speedy c/o 2017 5-star corner prospect who has since moved to safety and was likely going to be a starter next year. Polk started 7 games last year but was replaced by a freshman.
Penn State been recruiting well but between Johnson, Wade and a bunch of early entries they're losing a pile of expected 2019 starters. I'm feeling good about that game in Happy Valley.

I’m not feeling good about a probable white out night game, but if any coach can fuck it up it’s Franklin.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
....especially since he likes to doodle on the sidelines....

FRAMES IS LOSING THE PROGRAM
January 13th, 2019 at 7:55 PM ^
I think Penn State’s window, under Franklin, has closed pretty much for good.
That being said, let’s not make the mistake of assuming a likely white out night game is going to be easy next year.
January 13th, 2019 at 7:58 PM ^
Franklin has done well picking assistants with hot wives, so he might find someone else to save his job. He’s a great recruiter.
January 14th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
Wrong. If there recruiting drops to the back of the big ten then yes
January 13th, 2019 at 7:58 PM ^
No way Wade is coming here. He was the one who got pissed because the coaches told him that they wanted to see him in camp.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:01 PM ^
Meant notable because he was probably going to start, not because he might come here.
Given he's 5' 8" and has been moved to safety it sounds like Michigan was right wanting to see him in person.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
yeah - 5'8" guys are usually WR's/scat backs not defensive players
January 13th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
I'm sure there have been more since then but Bob Sanders out of Iowa is the last one I remember.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
Haven’t we had like a dozen 5’8” corners from Cass Tech?
January 13th, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
Was referring to the the last 5'8 safety I remember.

I believe antonio winfield was 5'9", one of the hardest hitting corners during his time.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Are any of these guys appealing to play next year?
In addition to being called a bad name the NCAA is now accepting being looked at crossly by a squirrel on campus as a vaild reason for hardship waiver so I'm sure they will petition.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
Remember so long ago when everyone around here was freaking about the Solomon transfer? I don’t necessarily like it but the world has changed-transfers will become more and more common. Only losing one or two potential starters per year will soon be thought of as a good year
January 13th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
I wonder what Scott Faterno has to say about this? At least there will be more food available for him to vacuum down his gullet
January 13th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
We can help put him out of his misery by never noticing another thing that noodle does for the rest of his life.

January 13th, 2019 at 8:39 PM ^
I think we could take advice from the basketball team here...talk less and do more.
For as much as everyone hates Franklin, he’s at least got a B10 title under his belt and a win over OSU. Far more than we can say. Maybe he does choke in big games, maybe he does suck at in-game management, maybe he’s been punching above his weight class...but he’s at least won the games he needed to win one time.
Until we can actually say the same thing, I don’t believe we have a lot of room to talk.
January 13th, 2019 at 10:23 PM ^
What’s your hero’s record against Michigan?
But hey - at least the creepy douchebag doesn’t have to look at ugly women when he is checking out the wives of his assistants.
January 14th, 2019 at 5:58 AM ^
All true, but still is 1-4 vs Michigan.

- James Franklin has a .682 winning % at PSU
Jim Harbaugh has a .731 winning % at UM

The number of idiotic comments posted on that twitter feed frightens me. I am shocked at how many really dumb people are out there, and how they managed to get onto a computer.
I am most definitely ditching twitter now, it's just not worth seeing that side of society.
January 13th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
If you read the comments on Twitter it's terrible. Same with ESPN, Yahoo sports, MLive, etc. Why are you reading the comments? You should know better.
January 13th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
Yeah, agree with you guys fully. This is literally the only site where I read comments.
And even the posters here make me regret that sometimes.
January 14th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
I hate a lot of the social media platforms but I find Twitter useful in getting quickly up-to-date on what is going on. It's a mistake to read the reactions to a tweet, because you can quickly run into a total fucking moron, so don't do it.
January 14th, 2019 at 8:20 AM ^
Twitter is truly bad for the soul. I quit at the start of last football season. Best thing I’ve ever done

Virtually half of all Americans are dumber than the average American. How scary is that?
(cue the Mgomathnerds to explain why this is statistically debatable)

I guess the sky is falling at Penn St?
January 13th, 2019 at 8:57 PM ^
Juwan was a head scratcher. He is starter and he wants to walk. Seems strange.
I know we have been joking about losing the program but this seems odd.
January 13th, 2019 at 9:33 PM ^
I assume it'll still be a tough game, but I've never been particularly impressed by Franklin as a coach and at this point he can't seem to out-recruit his own deficiencies, at least not compared to teams like OSU and UM in the division.
January 13th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
And how is Michigan doing these days?
January 13th, 2019 at 11:08 PM ^
Better than PSU
January 14th, 2019 at 1:23 PM ^
Michigan and PSU have pretty similar records over the last four years, actually almost identical, 38-15 for PSU, 38-14 for UM, conference record identical as well. The h2h favors UM, hopefully that will continue into 2019, they have one big ten title, so that would probably offset the h2h advantage and make it pretty much even.
January 14th, 2019 at 12:40 AM ^
10 game winning streak this year. Beat ass of all teams rated 3rd or worse making us solid number 2 in the conference. Beat MSU Wisconsin and destroyed PSU. All those teams wouldve looked much better without losses to us.
Much like we have no room to talk to bama or OSU fans any PSU fans out there should know their place.
January 14th, 2019 at 11:05 AM ^
Ten wins for 3 of the past 4 seasons. In that only non-10-win-season, we were forced to play our 3rd string QB because both of the other QBs were hurt. Side note: we won every game that said third string QB did not appear in.
I’d say we are doing great, especially considering where we were 4 years ago.
January 13th, 2019 at 9:38 PM ^
No PSU retreds.
January 14th, 2019 at 10:34 AM ^
Can never have enough depth in a 12-15 game season, recruit everywhere, anytime, anybody who can play D1 ball
January 13th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
Wasn’t Wade considering us his leader at one point, in his recruitment?
January 13th, 2019 at 11:14 PM ^

January 14th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
Almost for sure Gattis is recruiting them now!

Looks like the party in Happy Valley may be over without Moorhead. He really was what made them tick if you ask me.
January 14th, 2019 at 12:42 AM ^
Moorhead steered the ship away from the iceberg after we destroyed them the other year. He isnt there to do that this time around. Good luck PSU fans but I think Moorhead couldve made Hoke succesful.
