Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

The first day of the NBA Combine is in the books. Some highlights:

- Mo Wagner played in the first scrimmage. He played 26 minutes and scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting (1-4 from 3). Had 4 rebounds. Second-highest scorer on his team.

- Derrick Walton Jr. played 23 minutes in the second scrimmage. Shot poorly (2-of-7 and 1-4 from 3 for 9 points), but had 7 assists.

- As reported previously, D.J. Wilson did not play in the scrimmage due to injury.

- The measurables:

Wagner is 6-10 without shoes, with a 7-0 wingspan

Wilson is 6-8.75 without shoes, with a 7-3 wingspan

Walton is 5-11 without shoes, with a 6-2.5 wingspan

thinking our basketball team is going to end up gutted, but the longer this drags out, the more likely this situation will occur. We would be a fringe tournament team at best if Wilson and Wagner both leave. I'm just preparing for the worst and hoping for the best, like I'm sure all of us are.

This depends way too largely on what Simmons and Matthews do next year. Things would be pretty rough on paper, but Michigan could still put out a lineup of: Simmons, MAAR, Matthews, Duncan, and Teske(?), which isn't bad. Plus, players like Livers, Simpson, and Watson would be there to provide depth.

Not saying you're wrong. Just think there would be too many unknowns to say Michigan would go either way.

Seriously, I'm 6'5.5 without shoes and my while I've forgotten what my wingspan was when I measured it a year ago it was at least a couple inches shorter than my height, maybe even as short as 70 inches. WTF genetics? Why must you prevent me from dunking, touching my toes, and deadlifting a not embarrassing amount?

The whole height with-and-without shoes business suggests a failure of primary education in the U.S. Gives me a headache .....

Walton's Shot was a little off last night, but he controlled the game well from what I saw. He did get bullied a couple times on defense by Isaiah Briscoe but I thought he looked like he belonged out there.

This shouldn't surprise me, but Wagner is legit huge. Walton was always going to be a fringe NBA guy, but at his size he needs to show he can do something really well in spot minutes. If his shooting isn't there, he needs to have more games like this where he passes well.

I didn't buy that scout in the Detroit news saying Mo isn't ready. He's ready enough to get drafted (which is scary), and ready enough to not play D-league IMO. His upside is huge and he's young. I remember the quote that he didn't have a good game before Louisville. Just bs, he's had dominant games and some of his bad games he still put up numbers while being in foul trouble. Also on Walton, I've stood next to him on the corner of Packard and State heading home. 5'11 is right on the money.

Is too long for the NBA. He needs another year in college to reduce it. On a side note... I really hope Walton makes it somewhere. I love his game now.

Of the five areas they shoot from for spot up shooting, he was #1 from two of them and tied for 2nd from a third, and was 4th overall. For on-the-move shooting, he finished 1st overall from 15 ft, and 2nd overall from two locations from 15-feet for "off dribble" shooting.

Wagner is ready for the NBA imo. No he isn't ready to start but as a big t9 get 12 mins a game with the right team coming in with the second u it, a hustling big man who plays with a lot of emotion is a good spark to have. Honestly, I think a lot of players do better in the NBA because spacing is so much better.

Yeah this is a bad comparison. Mitch did great. Got solid minutes on a team with Rus and KD. Injuries and weed held him back. There's no way Mo is going to be a lottery pick anyways, he might as well come out if he can get drafted above 20.
